We lost our oldest daughter, Sarah, unexpectedly ten years ago. She was 36 y/o. She was a sister, wife and mother to a 2 y/o little girl. The ache in your heart never stops...you just adapt and carry on because there are other loved ones that still love and need you. I still have moments when I'm caught off guard by a reminder of my beautiful girl and have a good cry. I love it when she visits me in my dreams... GOD bless you and your family. To be able to think of and give to others at your lowest and darkest season……to put your feelings aside, even for a moment, to make sure another family doesn’t have to face what you are facing too soon is so selfless. Just know that it’s perfectly fine to be selfish and want to have your baby in your arms again. To those that say “he’s in a better place”, its perfectly fine to say “the better place is here with us”. I have medically participated in these procedures more than I can count. It’s always a double edge sword. To embrace a family trying to find their way through such pain then turn around and celebrate with another family for the gift given to them. I write & sing gospel music, and I'm going to pray that God will bless me to write lyrics with this verse in mind, as well as while keeping Kason and your family close to my heart. You are entirely selfless, and your gift of donation reminds me of the scripture in John 15 - verse 13, where it is written that no greater love has a man than one who lays down his life for his friends. Though Karon's life ended due to trauma, to me your decision to donate his organs was an example of this type of love, because, despite everything you and he suffered and in the face of unimaginable grief, you gave of Karon's beautiful body to save the lives of "friends" that you did not even know. What a sacrifice and demonstration of love. This is true if one is a Christian or not. Love is not defined by religion but by the fruit bared in one's life. In a figurative sense then, I can imagine your family as lush, green, and with branches laden with ripe, plump, and satisfying fruit. God bless you. Losing a child is the worst thing a parent will ever go through in their life. I am so very sorry that your family is going through so much pain right now.
