The voice acting was so immaculate and impactful in this animation, props to the actors and the director!
Miyabi did say she wants to become a hero just like the head of the family. Both parents prob didn't choose that path but instead their daughter is destined to. Notice how mom and dad expression darkens except the other family members? they really don't want miyabi to go to that path as Hoshimi's clan 'warrior'. Partly, bcs the demon sword power is that dangerous.
I think any person who wields it will shoulder the heavy responsibility. Miyabi's scream shows despair and agony but also the sword's power helping her swiftly kill those ethereals by using her emotions.
To be clear, Miyabi didn't actively kill her mother, her mother killed herself, the little girl only had her hands on the sword when her mother rammed the sword into her body. You can also see how the little girl is jerked forward at the moment the mother rams the sword into her own body with the little girl's hands on the sword hilt. And if you look closely at the scene, you can also see how the mother clasps her daughter's hands 7:38 while she herself also clasps the sword or the sword handle, so she prepares to kill herself while the little one has her hands on the sword. 7:40 Here you can see this again in detail and you can see how the little girl is jerked forward and is frightened. So she definitely didn't consciously and actively kill her mother. Of course it makes no difference to the little one, she had her hands on the sword, her mother is dead, and as I said, it makes no difference to her, especially when you consider how old the little one is at that moment, the only thing she knows is that her mother is now dead and that she is holding the object that killed her mother.
I have also read some comments on other creators under the comments where it is assumed that this is a ritual and that's why they kill themselves. I strongly doubt that because the sword already reacts to the little one at the moment when her tears hit the sword blade a few seconds later the sword starts to glow purple which for me means that it has recognized its wearer, so killing the mother has nothing to do with the ritual that many suspect. Especially since it would then suggest that the owner of the sword must always be killed by the new future owner with the sword if this is really a ritual where a life is required. We know from the developers and also from the trailers that her sword can only be taken out of the scabbard by her fingerprint, so I would say that the sword also reacts to DNA and not to any mystical aspects.
being japanese in zzz is the equivalent of an anemo character in genshin huh…
On a serious note, love the fact that section 6 who are basically among the strongest people in new eridu are all heavily affected by the hollow and war in general. I find that it really solidifies their motivations of protecting the people that survived the disaster.

You know what crazy, the fact that Miyabi is weilder of the demon sword, can weild a many weapon and master it, lose her mom when she was young, want more power because her post trauma, MOMMY PERSON TOO, is EXACTLY how Vergil back story is

About the blue eyes maybe is just a mistake of painting I guess.
Maybe is a stretch but, this is the first time we see Miyabi with blue eyes and apparently, also the first time we see her smile.
Actually, she faintly smiles in some of her dialogues. Virtual Revenge is one example
