- During a practice session, I was approached by someone who was curious about the pop break. I gave him the information I learned over the last couple of years.

One of the best interactions I've ever seen in a pool hall, great to see you giving so much time and being so friendly
Gotta get back to our humanity and kindness.
One of the best breaking lessons I've ever seen !
Thanks Breeze!
First of all, I'll thank you for sharing knowledge right there on the spot. Second to share it on video. I remember when I started, I had the same questions. And to this day, my breaks still suck but I did learn something new to try.. like you say, no fail just learning something new
That's all I want these videos to do.
Respect for blessing the curious with knowledge

Grady Mathews had the best break advice, he said once your lined up down on the shot, pretend the cue ball isnt even there, and try to drive the cue tip through the 1 ball. Ensures a good follow through.
Solid!!!!
Yeah my friend told me this same thing
Johnny Archer told me this as well and it changed my break so much
I watched this video and that was the difference between sinking 2-3 balls in 9 ball and breaking dry. Thanks!
Sick!!!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Pool is coming mainstream finally and I love it! Great little piece of info with the practice stroke

I like this video from Durpee 1 secret to help your break shot that's excellent details I need to work on my break more so I'll be better at it and I'll be master at it.
@@bminer1918 you got this!
Youre a good dude, man. I love seeing stuff like this. Share the knowledge with those willing to accept the lesson 💚 Sub earned
Good stuff. Once I started focusing more on a backswing to the ferrule and full follow through and less on “power” it made all the difference. For me I just think about bringing my shooting hand to my bridge hand after the backswing. I end up getting a follow through to the joint every time. Easy power, minimal effort.
Absolutely correct.
You can get so much speed just by following through with the natural momentum of the pendulum. The cue tip remains in touch with the cue ball enough to increase the propulsion.
@@danielpincus221 facts!
I subscribed strictly because you can tell the guy your showing is fairly new to the sport. Just the way it didnt seem natural for him to free stroke the que before lining up told me everything. Bravo to you, sir, for being such a patient and very well described mentor to that gentleman!! Much love to the game, bro!
@daltonrobbins3387 what kind words to start the day. Thanks!
Thanks for the trick and teaching it with so much empathy and openness
I’ll try it soon, no doubt
@@BackSlash- lmk how it goes.
Important details I picked up when I was learning to do this:
Fight the urge to tighten your grip on the cue. A loose grip and wrist is needed here.
Aim down into the ball as if you are shooting thru it into the table. This gets it airborne off the table, BUT don't do this without the next part--
This took me longer to figure out bc I was always told never to do this when shooting, but I can't get this break to work well without it---Drop your elbow right at or before contact with the cue ball. Dropping the elbow both adds power and, more importantly, straightens out the cue so you don't end up with a full on jump shot from aiming down on the cue ball. Dip your elbow some on your practice strokes to see the correct motion your cue should be making...down then straight, down then straight.
Put all that together with a center struck cue ball without any sidespin and a full on hit with the head ball and you should start getting a pretty good pop on your break!
Well said.
Nothing better than meeting another player that you can bounce tips and tricks off of. Great video!

I really enjoyed how you taught him
Thanks for watching. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
That’s cool homie, You show some random guy how to better his game. most of the time people that know the game don’t have the time for that. Props
@Hustler210 if we teach/help more.. more people will want to play. Thanks for watching and the kind words sir.
Great video I showed my two young sons this video. It really improved their break. Thanks.
Comment of the day!!! Thanks.
Great suggestion, going down to try it out!

Thanks for sharing this, i saw this short a few days ago, got to test this out today, my break instantly improved by 10 folds.
It may not visually pop a lot, sometimes almost unnoticeable, but the ball spread and more accurate cue action really improved due to smoother follow through and lighter power used.
Also, out of preference, it's not easy for me to move my body up a lot during break because on normal shots, i stay REALLY low, chin touching the cue.
10/10 advice ❤
@hlongvn4258 wow! I'm glad this helped. Just one adjustment makes all the difference.
The guy looks like he’s standing so far away from his cue. It’s like a haymaker punch, coming across actually takes away the power. Punching straight forward and following through is far more powerful. This guy could benefit from getting himself a little straighter on and then the follow through would come more natural and easy. Brilliant video, cheers!
Yeah, I noticed that as well. His arm appeared to almost be going in circles on his practice strokes, I was honestly surprised his attempts didn't end in miscues. He did get pretty good results tho considering his technique and alignment issues.
@@jamesjames77777 well said. Great analogy
Same problem with my break, this helps alot! thanks man cheers🍻

@@ThePoolTryHard i have request from you , Can you show us how to hold and grip the cue properly ( how loose it should be ... etc ) it's something i really struggle with and i feel like it makes my game so inconsistent

I love that red jflowers break cue such a nice looking cue. Also nice break lesson in a quick short video I like that. Some videos take super long to explain and sometimes I'm like just get to the point already lol 😂😅. So thanks for this
@@zanethind lol. I agree.
@@ThePoolTryHard yeah lmao
So no wonder the pros always pre stroke on their break shot. Sometimes I do it but not that much but I think when I do the pre stroke more my breaks seem to be better. Also good tip on hitting right down the center my friend told me the same thing. And in general good tips. Less power and more accuracy is definitely a key. I gotta practice this more thanks
@zanethind let us know how it goes. Thanks for watching.

Good content on the video. I’m going to practice what you advise regarding the break. I’m known as one who can’t break from my pool buddies in my city, desperately need to improve that part of my game along with shot making, cue ball control, kicking and playing defense. Thank you for the video, helpful channel.
No problem. More videos coming. Thanks for watching.
This is such a simpele yet very effective solution to breaking. I am struggling with my break but i am going to try this out. Thanx for this inside.
No problem @MarcV27

Hey Dupree I have a question if you get a sec! So....I started playing just with friends when I was a teenager, and randomly started left handed, despite being right handed and right eye dominant. So now I'm trying to elevate my game and taking it more seriously. I started learning with my right hand and now I'd say I'm about equal with both. Just unsure which direction I should go from here I'm second guessing my self and wondering if I should go back to my left hand bc it "happened naturally" 😂. Does it matter? Or is it worth trying to cultivate both hands? Thank you!
Which hand do you pick up the cue with naturally. Personally, I'd make that arm my grip and the opposite my bridge. Still build those muscles in the other hand but go with what's natural so you don't have to fight your subconscious on it.
Commit to memory 👍
❤ fuck yeah !!!!!!
OOOO YEAAA!!!!
It's speed of stroke only.
👍👍👍
I did not start watching your videos because I thought you were (dupree trickshots)
Lmao! Same name and same passion.
1:31 paused it there and notice his poor stance. Work on that first.
1:33 notice the cue alignment end all the way to HIS right side, so his not following through properly. Stemming from his initial position.
I noticed that immediately. But he only asked about the POP BREAK. I just wanted to help with that. He could have had back issues, and it didn't seem appropriate to ask at that time.
@@ThePoolTryHard yeah. No doubt. I like it when people see other better players play and ask to learn. I see too much in the sport people not wanting to be coached.
That was awesome.
💪💪💪
That is a really bad one pocket break though. Vid fails to acknowledge that.
