- The National Health Insurance Bill has now been approved by Parliament. But critics say if implemented, the NHI will see a complete shutdown of the private healthcare sector. Discovery Health CEO Dr Ryan Noach says although the NHI is 10-15 years away from implementation, what's concerning is who will fund it. What plans are there to ensure the survival of the multibillion rand medical aid industry? Xoli Mnbambi Speaks to Health Deputy Director General Dr Nicholas Crisp.
Tune into Newzroom Afrika DStv channel 405 for more.
The government should implement its NHI (if it wants to) and leave private healthcare sector alone. Please!
Dr Nicholas Chrisp will be remembered as one of the destroyers of this country, well done doc.
This will end the same way as Eskom, SAA, Denel, the post office etc etc etc 😢
All govt employees esp SADTU members must use the NHI first - let them prove it works first :).
Prophecy of doom you want slavery and privilage 😮
How will the the hospitals cope with the high demand for care ?its gonna be a disaster ! Doctors will not get paid ! It’s proven we cannot not have one NHI plan ..another Eskom
The Govt Hospitals can't run their Hospitals now how can they possibly have money to get their Hospitals in order to be able to have the the Public support them.
More tax, we will leave!
Dr Crisp, are you a member of a Medical Aid? Just asking
Yes - he is on GEMS - state employees do not go to provincial hospitals - my retired mom as a govt pensioner goes to Netcare .
Nonsese 10 to 15 years its ridiculous. It should be like tomorro. People want to be privilaged nonsense
All the good medical professionals will pack up and leave the country and we will be left with Sangomas and witch doctors
What do you expect Discovery CEO to say? LOL. Of course he’ll be against it.
Boy boy have you been to a public hospital?
Dr Crisp makes many sweeping assumptions. New Drs ciming into the system. Run some competency tests Doc..
Specialists? Try to get apptmts recently?
Watching people pay medical aids huge sums of monthly debits like they paying for nice model of cars while still getting stuck with debts post ICU survivals and being treated by same clinicians who are in public ..most paying those huge sums years and years just buying sick notes from their GPs monthly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣you realise the magnitude of this robbery
My daughter had a seizure on a Monday evening - she had a MRI scan within an hour at a Netcare hospital.
If we had to go to a state hospital - there would be no bed to admit her - the MRI machine would either not be working or we had to wait days.
So laugh all you want - at that moment I was glad I was paying Discovery their $$$ all these years and not leaving my daughter's care in state hospital.
@@tibbydudeza how did that MRI urgently influence the outcome ?given the huge sums you paying ?in most cases your child might have not needed that MRI maybe she just needed a CT scan😅ill definitely agree resource limitations but yes that could be solved and safe the public from this scam or Robery of medical aids if I might say ..let’s hope they gonna pay for that MRI🤣🤣
@@SonOfTheSoil834 And you clearly never had one of your kids in a life or death situation in ICU.
I rather prefer to take competence and a speedy outcome over maybe's and the tender mercies of public health sector.
Cardboard boxes for babies :).
NHI is going to be another fuckup like the Post Office - you are welcome to take your chances but my family would rather not.
@@tibbydudeza But the majority have to put up with it. Government pays more per person in private health care than using public health care.
@@SonOfTheSoil834have you ever been to a public hospital?? Go over a weekend and see if you can even get a bed but you want to speak about CT scan mxm
