I would like to ask if the CBEAM elements can be quadratic (I can't find how to add middle nodes like the QUAD8) or is it that this function is not available in Femap Nastran?

Not sure about that one. Try the online manuals. Also if anybody else knows the answer, please help us out so we can all get smarter!

Apparently according to the manual in section "7.1 Translation Table for ANSYS, NASTRAN, and MSC Patran" it is not possible to use parabolic beam elements
