Why are you surprised? This was a Sunday afternoon game, and nba finals games were tape delayed between 1979-1981, and only 6 of those broadcasts were tape delayed
A lot of broadcasts would switch between 2-3 other games that's why a lot of this 2nd half is missing. The NBA back then was less watched than most other sports.

Surprised this game was even live. They were tape delaying NBA Finals games as recent as 1983. Then Magic & Larry met in '84 and everything changed.
