F-15E Strike Eagles wouldn't have been sent for this anyways, alert fighters would have been (2) F-22 & (2) more on stand-by. The (2) F-22 would have done the same thing they did to the (2) Iranian F-4 that were intercepting MQ-9 drone outside of Iranian airspace. The (2) F-22 would come up from the rear, (1) would fall up & back to a firing position to hit all the targets if necessary. The other would move under the enemy aircraft to assess their armament. After that, the F-22 would pull up next to them on the outside of the formation, switch to the Guard Channel & say something like "you guys should really go home.". Up until then the enemy aircraft would literally have no clue they were there. Iranians about crapped themselves, because they thought they were alone & going to take out the MQ-9.

F-15 are ground based fighters - as are f22 so if this isn’t near a us air base armed with those fighters you wouldn’t see them. F-35s or fa-18 would be your carrier launch sortie.
@@vecistus The F-22s would be out of either Guam; Kadena, Japan or S. Korea. The 7th Fleet Carrier Strike Group wouldn't handle this.

I know this is DCS, but this crap does happen all the time. After the B-52H gets done being overhauled to the B-52J they're going to be in for a surprise. The new Rolls-Royce engines are 30% faster (significantly quieter too), longer range, a modified version of the F-18 Block 3 AN/APG79 AESA RADAR is being installed with the full EA-18G Growler EW Suite, the cables & pulleys are resplaced with a redundant all digital fly-by-wire system, the cockpit is going 95% glass cockpit, the cheeks are going away, the comms, SAT, NAV, LINK16 etc are all being upgraded to the latest & moved to the spine. Lastly, it won't be much due to the size, but even the RCS is getting reduced, so it won't look like a B-52 on Radar anymore. There is talk of arming it with a self defense suite of AIM-270 & AIM-9X as well. The chaff & flare system is being replaced with a new automated one that also includes the laser used on Apaches & B-1B that blinds IR & TV guided missiles.

I always figured they didn’t change the engines because the plane was designed around using those engines.
@@machivellisucstwogo7103 the new engines are going in new nacelle housings that are nearly identical in size. The new engines are close to the same size, but they're actually smaller & lighter both of which is a very good thing. We need to remember the current engines are the original Pratt & Whitney TF33-PW-103 from the early 1960s & also as technology advances, it gets smaller & more powerful at the same time. Currently the B-52H has an un-refueled range of 8,800 miles. The new Rolls-Royce F130 engines will increase its un-refueled range up to 12,320 miles.
