    Fair play to you, Erica! I have a huge box of bulbs I haven't gotten around to yet. You're always on the go, you get so much done. I filmed my November diary entry today and it really highlighted to me how much I need to do!!!

    I'm new to planting bulbs. This was a great idea! Is there a video where you show what the planter looked like as the bulbs began to sprout throughout the year?

      @@ericaslittlewelshgarden I need to find a few more flowers for the plot. Good for bees etc not invasive or overly self seeding and annual.

    Late and I don't want to rain on anyone's party (sorry Erica :( ) Beware (UK): Cyclamen come as house ones and hardy ones, if it doesn't say on the label, expect it to die with the first frost. I have tried to produce a larger pot of 12 months flowers and perennials don't work as they take over the pot: challenge! I hope Erica proves me wrong after 1 complete year :)

      These ones were outside in the garden centre so I assumed they were the hardy ones.

    What happens after all the bulbs flowered? Do i have to dig it up due to new baby bulbs ? Or leave it and plant a new annual on top ?

    Just came across your videos.. this one is very interesting! For people like me who did not see the video when it first appeared is it possible for the day and month to run as a title through the video? I assumed this was filmed in Autumn sometime? You may have said it at the beginning but by the end I couldn’t remember.Thanks

    I'm glad to see this Erica because I have a maature one. Only thing is I am missing the daffodils. Theyone came up and went away. The iris gladiolus , crocosmia never miss. I want to know plese if I can add a dd my Nerines , and dahlias? Currently in pots. I really wish to add the nerines

      Thanks for watching. 😊 Can you plant some more bulbs?

    • @Dormousey
      @Dormousey 3 года назад +1

      Hi Lilian, just my own experience ..... These mixes work by putting the largest bulbs at the bottom and the smallest ones above. Nerine bulbs are quite large and probably need to go right at the bottom. Dahlias are thugs, not suitable for this kind of mix. I can't track the iris you mention. If is a dwarf one, fine to go near the top but if of a flag type, they are thugs too and don't belong in this sort of mix. Dahlias and large irises have tubers that produce more off shoots that will crowd out the bulbs and will eventually take over. This is presuming you don't live in a cold part of the UK where dahlias don't survive winter. HTH. Crocosmia is a thug in my garden too so I hope you enjoy yours and it doesn't become too rampant :)

    Hello Erica, before I try this project next month, is it possible to have an update or photo... Maybe some advise on something that didn't go well and you would do differently? Also something I don't understand: if you plant flowers on top, you will need to water them all year. Wouldn't that be bad for the bulbs during their dormant period?

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  2 года назад +2

      I did plant flowers on top and the bulbs didn't rot. I didn't do a follow up video though. Thanks for watching.

    Hate to rain on your parade, but many people watching this will follow your example and be disappointed. Tulips hate sitting in the wet, which is why recommended planting time is November, some grit or gravel in the bottom will prevent them rotting. These Tulips, these have a flowering height of 45-60 cms. They must be planted at least 8 Inches (20cms) deep, otherwise they will not stand up, and year two if you do get any flowers they will be small. The Narcissi need to be planted at least 3 times the height of the bulb (ie if the bulb is 4 cms then they need to be 12cms deep. The Alliums should go in at the same depth as the tulips. Kudus for you getting them in and I hope your display was successful as there was no followup video.
