How were the special stages the highlight? Input windows are very stilted. A good enough player can match that-nobody can match the regular stage maneuvers.
@@qaaris4280 Funny you should say that... Take the electric orb mini-game and get at least 50 rings in it. There's another route for continues. But since you'll acquire so many extra lives either via item box, 100/200 rings or scorecard tally if fast enough, continues would be moot at this point.
I will argue, to my _dying breath,_ that if the in game timer is _within six seconds_ of 1m00s, the TASer should intentionally wait out the clock unless it would severely prolong a section or area. An example might be the Drill Mobile K in Marble Garden Zone. Instead of activating the boss right away, maybe marzojr could have waited a couple seconds before entering the boss area? I dunno. Someone - maybe _several_ someones - explained this to me, before and I forgot. I know there's a _really good_ reason TASers of _Sonic_ game do things this way…
I know this is an old comment but a lot of the time the reason the time isn’t waited out and is just finished right away is because the TAS author(s) only care about time in the stage not counting end screens. I believe the Sonic 2 TAS author mentioned in notes that they were going for fastest in-game time (which doesn’t count the end screen) and not real-time. I’d assume the same applies here. i like how for the entire run the game was just like "WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?!?" as sonic clips through walls and shit XD
The special stages were the highlights of this run, but seeing a tas of a game I played the crap out of on emulator in high school was nevertheless entertaining as heck
How were the special stages the highlight? Input windows are very stilted. A good enough player can match that-nobody can match the regular stage maneuvers.
@@AstroTibs Thats not true I'm a rookie TASer those inputs are on point.
This is the actual speed of sonic
100% run
Rings in the special stages: am I a joke to you?
Yes without continues and no rings in special stages, this run not 100%.
honestly the perfect special stage routes would probably be a lot more boring than the ones used in this TAS so
The rings only give you continues, they're useless in 100% runs because I'm pretty sure that's not the only way to get continues.
@@qaaris4280 Funny you should say that...
Take the electric orb mini-game and get at least 50 rings in it.
There's another route for continues.
But since you'll acquire so many extra lives either via item box, 100/200 rings or scorecard tally if fast enough,
continues would be moot at this point.
I don’t know who this TAS guy is but he seems pretty good at Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
(Please don’t kill me, I’m just joking)
I love how sonic is constantly jumping and spindashing in place as if he's on happy crack
This has the best boss theme of all the Sonics.
too bad we only get to hear for like 5 seconds in this video lol
Yo, Lava Reef 2 was a fucking banger until he went Hyper Sonic
Thanks So Game Almost 12 years later!
Me watching this with my arms folded saying this is ridiculous. In a good way of course 😂
Rolling around at the speed of- you know what, I give up.
So... much... *moonwalking*
6:31 oh don't mind me, i'm just moonwalking on some blue spheres
Even if it means going backwards I've so got this task done!
Instery Michael Jackson mooy joke here
When he zips through the wall at 10:37, how come the collision is the same for the water ramps, but the graphics get all confused?
BTW, nice speedrun.
He moved so fast the camera got confused trying to catch up
Robotnik didn't even get to star in the Launch Base Act 2 miniboss, Sonic took it out before he even got a chance to hop in 😭
Kintobor is too scared to be around sonic now
"I said go fast not BEYOND LIGHT SPEED"
I will argue, to my _dying breath,_ that if the in game timer is _within six seconds_ of 1m00s, the TASer should intentionally wait out the clock unless it would severely prolong a section or area. An example might be the Drill Mobile K in Marble Garden Zone. Instead of activating the boss right away, maybe marzojr could have waited a couple seconds before entering the boss area?
I dunno. Someone - maybe _several_ someones - explained this to me, before and I forgot. I know there's a _really good_ reason TASers of _Sonic_ game do things this way…
It was most likely because of a major difference in time bonuses, and how it could actually be faster to wait it out for a moment.
Edit: Yeah checked the authors notes on this TAS and they were primarily focusing on in-level time, not real time
Hmm so sonic is trying to do a moon walk in the bonus stage hmm interesting I'll write that down
Breaking news: blue hedgehog goes -super- -saiyan- *mastered ultra instinct,* tears the fabric of reality apart
Holy shit my eyes I see why it's Hyper Sonic now.
1 ring clutch for the win
26:29 to 26:39 wha- what the heck?!? what did I just witness? There's two Knuckles, a magical teleporting ring to the crystal zone, and suddenly a spare emerald game.
You just witnessed SuperSonic being taken away so he couldn't just skate the last half of the game.
Chaos emeralds now transformed into the Super emeralds you must collect.
18:15 I didn't know about a speed glitch like that, especially one that makes base form sonic have afterimage effects
i think its the camhack
It's a camhack
I'm a rookie TASer
@@sethstallings7288 I'm assuming a hack that forces the camera to keep up with him. Makes sense I guess.
18:34
I didn't know you could perfectly? Bounce? On a boss like that to destroy it!
Hilarious!
Definitely do more of that?
18:15
Insane!
Now he's truly the fastest thing alive
I knew from the moment I saw that bubble shield things were about to get real frame perfect
Everybody got insane when he did this 2:30
Todos en las fases especiales:hace perfects
Este enfermo:bloquea perfect y camina como Maikel Jackson
This is the game that won out Christmas sales versus Nintendo and put Genesis on top for the holiday season sales sadly this marked the beginning of the end for Sega after that year.
I hate how many rings he passes up in the final stage. That kind of timing to have one ring left at the end was sick.
23:58 "hi i am shadow"
Man turned into Michael Jackson in a special stage
Man still to this day I can't stand carnival night zone
I always wondered what would happen if you destroyed that robot during the angel island bombing
I think its health value is set to 255, so you can't destroy it in the given time.
Though, it would be cool if you could change it somehow, so you can figure it out.
@@qaaris4280
Probably could try to find the health in the files, but all you would get is a crash because I don’t think that would be meant to happen
@@mkkd_5254 or a softlock like in lbz and hpz
Count me in?
Super Sonic based on Super Sayian.
Ultra Instinct based on Hyper Sonic.
It’s more like the opposite, except not based
Sonic 1 had super sonic
Hyper sonic debut in sonic 3
@@mkkd_5254 super sonic debuted on sonic 2
And hyper sonic came first than ultra stinct
Lo más increíble después de las zonas especiales fue haber saltado a varios jefes importantes y de los más difíciles el de lava zone el de marble zone 2 donde te carga Tails y varios de sky santuary
A bueno pos máster 🐔🤙
I wonder if sonic gets dizzy after spinning from all those elevators
Kinda disappointing that the accepted 100% definition doesn't include all rings on the bonus stages but 🤷♂️
18:14 Blast Away!!
19:24
TAS-Only Glitch
8:45 is this some kind of wall glitch?
Who here used to always start hitting the first boss in Sandopolis right after it appeared rather than having it follow you to the sand and then hitting it?
I timed over on it
Proof that sonic is faster than the flash:
Anyone agrees that Sonic's sprite is closer to his modern appearance than his classic appearance
growth spurt I guess lol
Watching the Blue Sphere stages gives me anxiety. lmao
20:27 what the hell is going on?
