Fortnite NEW SEASON Best Settings for CH5S4 // Katalina Skin Gameplay - Windows on Steam Deck LCD

#steamdeckgameplay Fortnites New Seasons is here! Using the new Katalina skin to celebrate the relaunch of Fortnite Mobile in Europe, how well does Chapter 5 Season 4 run on a Steam Deck LCD, via a Windows 10 partition on the internal SSD?
The Good:
- Visually looks like a big improvement over last season, and the Steam Deck handles it well at lower settings
- After you play the first few games so assets can load in, it feels smoother than last season, holding a steady 50-65fps on low settings, with DX12 and aliasing cranked
The Not so good:
- As with every season, it plays like junk for the first few games as all the assets etc are optimised, which will cause massive dips and spikes in performance. This is normal, our advice is to land away from others, jump in a car and drive around the POI's - not only to get a good look at the map, but to help it all load in.
- In bigger game modes like builds or squads, the new items like the Iron Man repulsers can cause hitching if everyone is going berserk with them

Key things we're looking at:
- Running around slowly and quickly panning the camera angle
- CPU/GPU load and temps in different scenarios
- If there's night and day or weather scenarios - comparing performance in different light
- Particles and effects when in combat, gliding/swinging or breaking things in game etc.
Running on a clean install of Windows 10, no debloating, no custom stuff - just a Windows 10 install on the SSD, the standard drivers supplied by Valve, Steam Deck tools and on AC power in this video.

What kind of lag are you experiencing? Ping, stutter, input or hitching?

Could be the shaders being cached. Play a couple matches and see if they go away after awhile.
