@@BradJacobson If this was during the recent week-long run, I looked at the wind forecasts - and saw junky conditions in the morning, just about everywhere... even this spot... Though it actually doesn't look too bad... I got a report from around the bend to the S - that said things were fairly good on the lower tide, despite the onshores... But I'm looking for the A+ session - always... And with these winds and tides - that was the PM session on the outer reefs at Secos - day after day... It can be worth shooting, though obviously not the kind of hollow-but-cruel mistress, that you tend to favor...to which list, we can add the spot above... Though with a good offshore wind, and/or a lower tide/crossed-up swell... Well that spot, and the ones from the Restaurant to the creek - can actually become quite peaky and perfect.
I've wasted many hours of my life driving up the coast to check this place, only to turn around and go back to that super crowded spot with every other surfer on in SoCal. Thanks for sharing!
Hey man I’ve been watching your stuff for the past 6 months and I haven’t commented yet, but I wanted to say your videos are stellar and I know you’ll grow at some point so don’t stop making this awesome content! :)
Brad your narration has a blend of OG's Warren Miller from the old Ski movies and a Bruce Brown vibe. Both legends in filmaking. Keep it up bro from E. Central Florida
This type of waves are the default here at home, I hate them lol, my drop is usually slow and without much momentum so I can barely catch these. The good side is that when you are finally on a "normal" paced wave it feels easier
@@matthewmatuszak9034 That is awkward... I meant that these waves are like what i have at home, not that my home is near this waves. I'm in Brazil, I can't drive a few miles and be in Malibu lol But your point is valid, just go somewhere else, I know.
I keep seeing complaints of spot disclosing, yea its not a secret spot but Imagione how pissed you would be if this went viral and your breaks kook numbers went up tenfold. Not saying that would happen but its better safe then sorry. Thank you Brad for shooting awesome waves and for the great commentary
Yeah, surfed here for 20 years. Even when slater and the Malloy bros were on it on a freak cross up in 97 there was still plenty of space. It gets so good there and other breaks in that area, soooooo good. It just hardly ever happens and you got to know your charts inside and out to not waste a trip cause it’s walled all the time in that area too. Can’t expose spots this fickle. It was better back then too. I think it’s because of sand loading and rain whatever’s.
For a second I thought I was watching a Bruce brown flashback surf video but then I realized it was modern and the voice was off. You still have same style and presentation though. . Did you idolize him as a kid?
This is my home zone. Theres a strong boogie and bodysurf crew there. I LOVE this wave!85
It's a fun wave, especially when the direction is right.

The commentary and music gives me real endless summer vibes

Thanks!
It broke much better here back in the 70s. awesome barrels then. Recently it's just an exercise of racing the closeouts. Great video and editing Brad!
Great video man, as always
Thanks!
Reminds me of narrating by Bruce Brown and that is a good thing
Thanks! Yeah, I really love Bruce's work.
Makes for good pictures though!
Absolutely
Commentary reminds me of old Warren Miller ski films.

Awesome. Where is this again?

or you could drive 5 miles north and surf leo carillo and county line or 15 miles south and surf malibu

@@BrunoMussoi oh, sorry about that, I misunderstood you. If that’s the best wave in your area then I guess it’s just tough luck.
And the SurVid award for best soundtrack goes to...

can’t see much kooks coming out here.
the wave is too difficult for them.
@@mendellang8379 youd be surprised, it’ll be too difficult but they think they’re pro cause they started surfing in covid

no such thing as a secret spot in LA, lmao.
