I like it a lot! Your skills with various tools are really improving from some of your earlier videos!! A detail spindle gouge needs to go into your repertoire! You will enjoy it muchly. Man I wish I had a couple thousand blanks of that birch. It looks a joy to turn! Take care, Scott. PS new subscriber!
Thanks Scott! I definitely need a spindle gouge! The one I have is a cheap brand, that came with one of my used lathes, and I don't trust it to stay together. I am fortunate enough to live in Canada where there is lots of birch. unfortunately, by the time I find branches that have fallen, they are usually too rotten to turn.
...cool Heather...recently I did a version of this for each of my, and my wife's, sibling's families...hoping they're a nice little Christmas present... Looking forward to your next one...🥂👍 Matt
@spiritwynd ...that's a good idea... The odd thing about this is that while watching you turn the spaceships a few weeks ago, I thought about asking whether you had ever turned these lanterns...I decided that since I wouldn't be able to describe them adequately, I just let it go... Since I turn mostly smallish branches, these are pretty fun... Again, very well done! Matt
Very clever, Heather! It took me awhile to see how it was going to come together which made it fun to watch! Great job! 😀 I thought there was something wrong with your lathe with all that tapping until I figured out you weren't alone in the shop! LOL! Phil
Thanks Mark! The hole was a little big, so I added a couple small shims, just to hold it snug. I've heard some people say they glue it in. Hope this helps. Heather 🇨🇦

They are a cool little gift! I was thinking that I'd make a few to put on my next craft table. They just add a bit more light to draw in customers

@@spiritwyndI use hot glue
Nice turning Heather what's the red stuff it seems to colour the wood very well
The red stuff is India ink. It does work very well!
Thanks for watching
What is the tapping noise in the background. Very nice work!
Thank you! And the tapping was my son putting a new handle on the mallet

Thanks Brian

I'm not sure why you commented, or watched for that matter, but you did, and that helps my channel grow! So thank you 😊
