@Johnathon Barker The ships use the sun to power a nuclear like core inside the engine that surrounded by a cooling system that stops it from overheating the turbines powered by the core suck in oxygen mixing it with flammable cosmic gas igniting it inside the ignition chamber and creating a powerful flame out of the boosters. My theory is when Jim’s father left on his ship he forgot to check the ship for faults and on his voyage the motor for cooling system suddenly malfunctioned and shut off stopping the flow of coolant to the core causing the core to start overheating the overheating core started to melt the blades of the turbines causing the boosters to sputter out smoke until the turbine blades melted completely and stopped spinning this caused the ignition chambers to fill with the flammable cosmic gas that was still pumping into them the alarms started going off meaning the core reached critical heat started to make its way to the ignition chambers and when it did it ignited the gas causing a large thermonuclear explosion obliterating the ship and Jim’s father with it. That’s what I think happened

Not sure, Jim described him as a Salamander to Silver but im sure he's an Alien that just so happens to look like that Animal if i had to guess.
