My dad was on the Malta convoys...he was a sergeant on HMS Victorious. Unfortunately, the whole experience caused him to have (what we now call) PTSD. He had a fear of water and would go nowhere near the water's edge at the seaside, even on a very calm day. He used to paint aircraft carriers and battleships in action...usually in mountainous seas. They were good enough to sell but they were too personal to him to contemplate letting anyone else have them.
My daughter has done a lot of research on the Malta Convoys and found a photo of him standing to attention as George V1 inspected the men🌹

We went to Malta last Christmas, my wife wanted to know what I would like to do. All I wanted to see was Republic Square and the War Museum to see the story of how a legion of brave men lifted the Malta siege, and the story of SS Ohio. If you have never been to Malta - go. A heroic people with one of THE richest histories of Europe. What happened at the museum? I shed a few tears for one of the bravest, yet most unsung stories of WW2.

It's incredible what the Pedestal convoy went through, and what the civilians of Malta wen through over years of siege. How the history of the war would have changed if Malta hadn't ben able to hold out. A generation of bloody heroes

MALTA during the Centuries is an incredible place. Im only 65 but have Maltese friends who lived in Malta during WW2. "My, how the Maltese suffered". Though fictional, a great book to read is The Kapillan of Malta by Nicholas Monserrat. Nicholas worked on Corvettes during WW2. When life gets tough I recall how our parents did it tougher.
