i get the parameters in which someone needs to play as karlach, but doesn't multiplayer prevent you from doing origin karlach and origin wyll in the same run (because of conflicting personal quests)?
Yep, nice catch. The only way to get Origin Wyll and Origin Karlach on the same playthrough is to start the game with one of them and then use mods to add the other as an avatar. Otherwise it's impossible. I was experimenting with the Swap Origin & Companion mod and got this epilogue.

You have to play as Origin Karlach and romance him to have him go with you. So to have this conversation, you need a multiplayer campaign
