I agree that the key is having a chill approach. I’ve tried to setup Obsidian a few times over the years and I keep walking away from it. Your video is a great refresher on the simplicity of the application. Thanks for the reminder - I’m going to give it a go again.
Cool video. I’ve been using Obsidian for a while but I feel like I’m not taking full advantage of its features (basically using it as a glorified notepad) and this gave me some ideas
Found out from this video that the Obsidian Web Clipper is available for Firefox... That was the last thing preventing me from switching from Chromium browsers!
Great video! I'm keen on trying it out. How do you separate which notes go between Notion and Obsidian? I've been using Notion for 5+ years like yourself
can you publish , or is there an api on this, so you can publish your notes, like you might publish a wiki? and then, interlink different people's note-wiki's. this would be the beginning of the mind meld cloud.
Important to note that Obsidian is NOT free the moment you take a note that can relate to your Work (if commercial and more than 2 employees). They require a $50/year commercial license. A bummer but devs gotta eat.
@ they don’t track. Privacy is still maintained fortunately. It’s honor system but part of their license terms online. “””Commercial use means using Obsidian for revenue-generating or work-related activities within a for‑profit organization that has two or more employees””” They’ve clarified in forums that includes things as simple as taking meeting notes or research notes tied to a project or task.

There is an official browser extension maintained by the Obsidian team called "Obsidian Web Clipper". The daily notes can be done through the core plugin of the same name.
I stopped using Notion for taking notes yeah. Notion is still useful for shared notes or for productivity stuff though, like planning out a posting schedule for example
It looks to me like he actually just used the built-in callouts. However, some themes for Obsidian actually have a set of styles for common callouts. The most popular one that I can think of is the minimal theme (it also has a corresponding plugin called minimal theme settings). For more intense callouts, people usually use the plugin called admonitions.
@ Just using obsidian is a complication in itself, lol, do you think Elon Musk uses obsidian? They are just useless tools that create friction between you and your ideas. If productivity enthusiasts didn't talk about obsidian or use it, would you use it? That's the real question
idgaf about other productivity enthusiasts lol - whether or not elon musk uses this has no impact on whether or not its helpful for me I also say in the video that you should figure out what works for you - I'm using obisidian as an interface to type plain text files, no part of this is complex for me. I am not doing some PARA, zettelkasten, or any other thing like that
@ you encode the information to your mind better with a handwritten system. And it also forces you to be brief and concise and focus on the most important parts. Also it turns you into a super genius with prolific output such as its inventor Niklas Luhmann. Scott Scheper wrote a great book on Antinet. I would recommend reading it before you fully commit to bubblegraph or digital systems. He has some videos on here too I believe. He’s slightly annoying however. But with reason.
@ also I should add others like Ryan Holiday and Robert Greene use a very similar although not exactly Zettelkasten, analog notes system. Everywhere it’s applied success seems to flourish. All I see from the digital guys is them talking endlessly about their tags and their ever changing apps. It seems like it leads to the opposite of its intended purpose. Same with people using notion. Instead of taking productive action. They spend huge chunk of their time managing and pruning their productivity system. Which seems somehow ironic.

I just started using obsidian recently for my CCNA notes, seeing that this was just posted was a nice treat.
that ccna grind is real bro
Post your config files for obsidian maybe pls?
Literally...
this guy is amazing! thank you for this video.
Been waiting for this 🙏
glad I could make it in time!!

Still using both Obsidian and Notion. I treat Obsidian like notepad for Windows for quick note taking due to how fast they are.
spaced repetition is a cool plugin for flashcards in obsidian
anki is a bit more powerful and flexible for me - great for atomic cards like vocab/definitions, and also has the option to use the fsrs algorithm
Downloaded anki again. Thanks for the reminder. Going to try to remember to use it enough before buying a subscription
don’t think they offer subscriptions! it’s been free for me for past 5 yrs
Discovered your channel today, what an insightful video!
glad it was helpful!
@reysu Do you use live preview? Looks like you're using it but the format seems more close to Reading view. Wonder if you used snippets for that.
film morning routine showing how you use journal, pocket notebook etc in a day
Great video! I'm keen on trying it out.
How do you separate which notes go between Notion and Obsidian? I've been using Notion for 5+ years like yourself
I only use Notion for shared docs + project management now!
how do you have folder icons next to the folders? is this part of a theme you're using or some other plug in?
I'm using something called file tree alternative
what do you think about emacs doom? I think it is also super productive for build second brain, but ur system also powerful.
can you publish , or is there an api on this, so you can publish your notes, like you might publish a wiki?
and then, interlink different people's note-wiki's.
this would be the beginning of the mind meld cloud.
think there’s a one click way to do it as part of a plan they offer, otherwise would be possible to implement it on your own too

Drop the plugins for daily notes and for web grabbing please

Can you call out some channels for learning obsidian Or you learn by experimenting it by yourself
I think you can definitely learn by yourself! No need to do anything super complex in Obsidian
@@reysu Thank you
Thanks for another vid. I like a lot of uour content. Thankfully im a bit more productive and thoughtful from the vids you posted.
Post your extensions and config
Have you tried Anytype? I would love to know your thoughts on that, if you have any.
looks a little too complicated with too much upkeep for my personal use
Right when I'm setting up obsidian this pops up
I saw a guy using logseq and transforming notes to flashcards. Then he would set time aside to review notes and improve them iteratively.
(all in one app) would be interesting to try this out in obsidian
Have you replaced Notion with Obsidian? Or you still use both?
I stopped using Notion for taking notes yeah. Notion is still useful for shared notes or for productivity stuff though, like planning out a posting schedule for example
@@reysu Do you still use Notion as a calendar?
I use notion calendar (its pretty much the same as google calendar), and also I still use it to plan out my vids
which plugins do u use?
will make a membership video showing all of them - is there one you were curious about
what the name of the custom callout plugin?

it's just the built-in callouts, but there is a handy plugin called callout manager
try doom emacs
why do you think it’s better?
over complexification instead of focusing on the essential
watch another obsidian video and tell me mine is overly complex lol

Hi ! Love your content ! Interested in collab? :)
Ugh “bubblegraph boys”. An Antinet Zettelkasten is way better.
what makes it way better?

lol bro's tapped 😬😬
lol
do you ever use the Boox palma for note taking on Obisidian?
can you tell me some more about it
it’s a bit too slow to type on the palma but I have app on there to view notes and if I need to copy something
