This song is the PERFECT evolution of As It Is, who they are as a band, their sound, and their thematics. I can hear the influence of every one of their albums in this track, and as a fan from the OG Patty Walters cover days it makes me so happy to see Patty continuing the story of this band in what to me at least seems like such a genuine way all these years later.
They're kinda keeping that emo/post-hardcore style from there last album but a kind of mature sounding post-hardcore mixed with alternative metal instead. I love it
This song deserves a lot more appreciation. 100% my fav As It Is song by far! In the 1st 10 seconds I thought 'NO WAY they can pull off an even HARDER sound...' TG I was wrong.
I really missed As It Is. I mean, we all had an awful year in 2020, I bet we all had to deal with our mental health and bad thoughts. In 2020 during the lockdown I also was diagnosed (and underwent surgery 3 weeks after) with brain cancer and have since then been doing a lot of radiation therapy and chemo. I felt so lost and lonely a lot of times. As It Is always had that superpower of putting into words what I'd been feeling for years (I mean, before 2020 with my anxiety and stuff), and I really missed having some new songs to rely on and relate to during this last year and a half. So glad to have you back with this banger, I wish to the guys in As It Is and to all the fans - who are struggling and living difficult moments - to find strength and happiness asap
