When you hit the puberty your voice goes into changes and if you don't have a good technique you will brake your voice and/or completely lose the good part of it, so yeah they are right, you can't sing the way Yedam is singing if you don't have a good coach and a maintenance team behind you, the 8 years wasn't just to wait him hit the puberty but actually to help him transit from one era to another era. Look up kids who sang way better than 2012's Yedam and sing horrible today can't hit high notes nor stay in the tone. He is good and was good before that is for sure,but don't downgrade the team who was behind him all this time and made him the Yedam he is today.

He may have a soft and smooth voice but, real singers are the ones that can extend notes. He can barely extend a note for 2 seconds. He’s young now so he can definitely improve.

He may have a soft and smooth voice but, real singers are the ones that can extend notes. He can barely extend a note for 2 seconds. He’s young now so he can definitely improve.

for female idols yg definitely has a sound but for this one i wouldn't know it's yg if not for the comments. many singers out there could have this sound n it's not a bad thing. having everyone in a company having specific sound/style only made them sound more manufactured(which... most idols are, anyway)
Yedam didn't use his technique here even his tone isn't the usual yedam maybe cause its a duet he adjusted to match the song you know he is a very flexible singer

I think treasure really have varieties of vocal style. I think yedam really have that yg style. Not about the techniques but about the style. Because yg vocals are always so modern, trendy,stylish, and kind of vocals that impress young people more. Even look at 2nd gen yg artists. Even Ygs 2nd generation songs sounds so trendy and timeless even after years of its release(Especially bigbang) . And yedam definitely got that trendy vocals. (its only my opinion)
