I'm not young anymore but back in the day, 60 years ago in Utah I caught lot's of Rainbow, Brook and Brown trout in several rivers and reservoirs in and around Salt Lake City, Utah I retired form the Army here in 1994 and settled in Elizabethton, TN, my wife's home town. I retired from working for corporate America in 1999 and have been working for myself ever sense. It's time to start fishing again. I bought my old person TN fishing license last year. I can easily walk from my home to the Watauga River. Yesterday afternoon 9/27/2022. I drove from my home in Elizabethton to Hampton and purchased a dozen medium sized "toughies" from the Brummit bate shop and a bucket to carry them in. My Toughies ( medium size minions) $2.50 for a dozen. No complaints. When I arrived at the Wilbur Dam TVA was generating. If you want free AC it's a good place to be. If you're fishing I don't think so. I drove the mile or so up to falls on Wilbur Lake an fished with minions there for several hours. I think I think I had some bites but I didn't catch a fish. I drove back down to the base of the dam and generation had stopped. from the boat ramp in your frame at 5:45 I made dozens of casts and more from the banks all around that area. I came up empty! I live a few blocks from the Carter Mansion. I fished there this morning with my remaining minions. I think I had a bite or two but didn't catch a single fish, I am clearly doing something wrong. I've lived in East Tennessee for 32 years now. I've never caught a fish here. :(
Hey Loyal, Good job on getting out and fishing. Whenever I’m fishing tuffies from the bank I always try to find softer ideas or calm pockets. This is the toughest man to fish for trout. Don’t give up, the fall and winter is the best time to try this technique.
@@MichaelKaal-TriFisher Thanks for the reply and encouragement. I love watching you catch fish in places I'm very familiar with. I don't need cable TV. An internet connection and awesome content like you provide is way more than enough! Thank you.
One reason that you might have had such heavy hitting, is it is time for the stocking dumps to take place. I saw them dumping in trout at Rat Branch 3/1, they are hungry!
you might have a little 'grizzly" in you the way you are catching em by hand! 😂😂😂😂😂 You slayed some trout that day. They were stacked in that hole
Yeah, it was a super fun day. I’m so glad I was able to catch that fish that broke me off earlier
I loved how you did a rigging tutorial in this video. I hope you keep that up. Plus, wow, what a day. It was fun to watch!
I’m glad you enjoyed it
Tight lines crew!!
Tight lines
I'll be moving down to Tennessee in the next few months. Looking forward to some great fishing.
A very enjoyable video for sure !
Fantastic, you’re moving to a great place for fishing. I’m glad you enjoy my videos
Quality again MK! Good example picking up trash.
Absolutely, thanks for the kind words.
It is so excellent that you give detail on the rigging you use. It is very helpful! Other fishing videos do not give so much detail
I’m glad you appreciate the details, hopefully it helps you catch a bunch of fish. Always happy to share info
That was an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing with us.
No problem at all

Yeah, it was crazy for sure. That wouldn't surprise me at all.
Not a fan of that type of fishing. Mad props to you for picking up trash though. You’re an amazing person.
I appreciate it.
I live in jc I never do good on watauga for some reason
I found that some days are better than others. Overcast days seem to be consistently good though
Very cool video.... but please stop saying "guys" every other word...
Noted, thanks for your feedback.
Trash on!
Yeah, lots of trash out there
