I do have to comment since a lot of stuff you said either wasn't true or just not researched enough.
Tires you use for drag racing are slicks, they have no profile like street tires, they start to grip up with heat, so it makes sense you do burnouts to increase the heat in them so they grip at the start and not slip, they do that IRL aswell. Best example is Formula 1, they're always saying that the tires need heat so function properly, roughly 100C°.
Your music critique is kinda objective, I get that you might say it's not your cup of tea, but imo and a lot of other people in this community would say ProStreet is top tier.
The song you used as an example literally just had the beginning playing, there was a lot more to the song. Should've put some more time into it at least.
Commentator rooting for you is kinda given, considering you are the newcomer who literally tries to challenge the reigning Kings.
The commentator also comments on a lot of people, Henrik Dehn, Rudy Chen, Ivan Tarkovsky, Takeshi Sato, Joe Tackett or Paul Trask, mainly the people who are part of the different Kings crews.
The game really isn't skill dependant, it's really just about your car. AI in the game really is bad and not a challenge if you use the right car. There are certain cars that really just absolutely demolish in certain events.
For example, Porsche 911 GT3 for Grip Events, should've noticed that once you tried going for the Grip King
Supra/Camaro '68 for Drag Events
Skyline for Speed Events
RX7 for Drift Events.
Those are a few examples, but the cars in this game vary greatly and make your life hell if you have the wrong one for a certain event.
AI DOES NOT SCALE WITH YOUR CARS, the skill gaps are fixed, they don't change with your car.
Car sounds were not taken from UG2, they are all recorded seperately. They are also reused in Undercover.
Same goes with car phsyics, they tested most cars IRL, checked their parameters IRL with different kinds of analysis and tech. There are a few videos about it if you give it a bit of research.
Prostreet was also rushed due to the developement team having been focused on Undercover and they needed a filler game because Undercover couldn't have been released in 2007.
They basically took a small fraction of Undercover staff and let them work on ProStreet.
Heavy and Light damage barely changes your performance at all, sadly.
The change is minimal, cars barely get slower, like by maybe 10kph and handling does not change at all.
This usually gets enhanced with most mods, for example the Pepega Mod.
The location variety is massive, I'm gonna list all of them here, you saying 3-4 different locations just puts the game to shame.
You got:
Speed Challenges and Top Speed Challenges: The Autobahnring, Nevada, Ebisu and Tokyo.
Grip races: Willow Springs, Chicago, Leipzig, Autopolis, Ebisu, Infineon, Mondello Park, Nevada Highway, Portland International Speedway, Texas World Speedway and Tokyo Dockyard.
Each of these courses have either a Drift or Drag variation aswell. Saying the game has 3-4 different courses doesn't do it justice.
This really isn't any hate towards you, just critique. I respect your video, especially more content after 17 years of the game having been released, but please do some research the next time you try to make a video like this.
Thanks for the info! I do admit the video is crudely made looking back now. Thank you for commenting! 👍
Short answer: no. Long answer: nooooo
Prostreet is all I’ve ever wanted in a racing game. Drift cars, tuners, supers and drags strips… all of it was packed in with so much detail that you could miss. I just wish there was even more cars! The game actually was challenging!
Literally nobody around me has ever said shit like "prostreet is mid." If you have someone around you whom say shit like that, I highly suggest that you get a new friend group to save yourself from all the bad taste.
the majority of people disliked prostreet back when it came out, which is a shame, but nowadays you mostly have people who like the game, because those who disliked it have probably already forgotten about it
Truth
This game feels like what Turn 10 was going for when they made Forza Horizon but they kinda failed. This feels like a real car/music festival
...no? Its just different. FH didnt fail at all, specially in FH1
Pro Street is one of my favorite NFS of all time. I used to spend hours tuning my Supra for the drag races. Had a 5.98 seconds pass and tought that as the best thing on my day after school. The drifting was soo good, the high speed races were amazing and actually challenging, the customization was better than most of today's games, the grafics were amazing for the time it was released and...The game is actually canon...Ryan Cooper was the character from the previous NFS games!!!
I'm struggling to find this game for PC and be able to revive this memory again.
I remember I had a tuning on my Supra back in the ps2 having a time of 4 point something seconds during the drags. I took a picture but I lost it ☹️. The only way to play the game on pc is to sail the seven seas unfortunately 🏴☠️ from what I found.
My go to was the 69 Charger for drag racing it was nuts
@@justinfgthe game is abandonware currently, you can download it legally, also all fixes for the game are avalible. You can even access all DLCs by installing scripts or whatever it's called.
NO its fucking EPIC
It stood out on its own but back then it was overshadowed by Forza Motorsport 2 and Gran Turismo 4. After NFS Shift games getting much more success, the ProStreet gets way more love than it deserved back in their days.
This is still one of my favorite track racers overall, and given how modern track racers went, ProStreet still offers its unique stand.
Funnily enough, GRID Legends is a carbon copy of it.
I couldn’t get into grid legends the same as Prostreet. I have about 2.5 hours played on legends while I have well over 30 hrs on Prostreet. (Combined guesstimate on pc and ps2)
Pro Street's greatest and most unfortunate sin was being the follow up to the likes of Most Wanted and Carbon at a time when Black Box dared to try something new. It probably wouldn't have shattered industry expectations at the time, but perhaps it might have fared better were it released in a different decade, or perhaps 5-7 years ago.
Compared to other Black Box games maybe. Compared to anything made after 2010 it's a damn masterpiece, especially the stuff made by Criterion and Ghost, they have no idea what they're doing.
The black box games had their own vibes compared to the newer devs
Nah, compared to the other Blackbox games it's still not mid
@@MrBossFML Yeah it is, the racing gets pretty stupid after you unlock Tier 2 cars.
@@No-vq1iv i smell skill issue
Man, games like these really rare these days😢
I can’t even think of a game that even come close to prostreets vibe 😔
trruuee
It is the first festival racer ever and had many amazing ideas. Some technical hiccups due to the 1 year long development cycle sadly meant the game had a few broken textures and easy bosses but it doesn't take away from the fact this game was almost perfect in design. This is the only NFS game of the era where upgrades are not linked to progression. If you have enough money you can buy any upgrade you want yet the game is still balanced. That in itself is an amazing achievement. The customization and car catalogue is also almost perfect. The handling only needs to have the delay disabled and then it is amazing.
The only reason this game has lower reviews is because of the immature audience of the time wanting another open-world racer.
This game is my childhood and i'm proud to be a deadbeat fan of this game goddammit 😤
NFS Pro Street is Dark Souls of racing genre
It tortures players
that's why it had mixed reception. Certainly not a game for everyone
Got it at launch, hated it as a kid but as my love for motorsports grew, so did my admiration for pro Street..
literally the game that introduced me to grassroots racing, from HPDE, autocross, drifting, and time attack.
First nfs game I ever beat, im happy people have been warming up to this hidden gem
Best festival racer to date and is one of the few trackday racer to ever exist, which says a lot because the only other game I know to fulfill one's trackday brokeboy racer fantasy is the super niche Japanese exclusive Tokyo Xtreme Racer spin-off called Racing Battle: C1GP and Dirt 2... kind of (there's also Heat, but it barely qualifies as one).
Trackday racers are untapped potential, it make your typical clean and for the most part vapid classic closed-track racing games feel more alive, gave it the oomph, the vibe, the atmosphere, and in RB:C1GP even interact and hear the thoughts of other racers with their own personalities.
This is my first favorite NFS series because when I was a kid, I bought 5 PS2 discs just wanna end the game. But I did end the game in PC. It was very exciting!
There is a part in Fast and Furious 1 called Race Wars
That's literally NfS Pro Street to me
This video has:
ProStreet mentioned ✔️
Good and solid opinion on ProStreet ✔️

Outstanding video, straight up new sub.
Thank you so much! Much appreciate the sub 💪
Tbh I LOVE the drift physics in this game yea I get it that it isn’t everyone cup of tea it I love it ❤
No not at all 😂 I still play it on my 360. I hated it when it came out still bought it but man it aged so perfectly
Announcer has voicelines about every single driver who is part of one of the kings teams.
The literal only issue i had was the assisted drifting absolutely drove me up walls and you couldnt turn it off which was maddening haha
Good video bro keep up the great work
Love ya brother lmaooo
2:10 if I could insert the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme here I would. I freaking own this car and I have always wished I had a video game growing up to play it.
The ONLY NFS game I missed playing growing up was….
PRO STREET!
Now I’ve gotta go find a copy and take my Lexus to the end🤣
Update: you gained a subscriber (or two if you catch it later 😅) great video man. So cool to hear the story of how you got the disk!
@NickJohnsonSaxophone thank you so much for the support! Lexies don’t get enough love in games these days 😭
For pc you can find it in internet archive and the mods to correct it at NFSmods
Good game. Okay video essay
The speed races are peak need for speed
This was at the time when race days meant something, specially on the street scene. Details, cars, progress, customization, engines, vibes, racing disciplines, you name it. To me is my NFS ever. It could be better, the commentary could reflect on every member of the teams, not just a selected few. The kings could be more developed to be harder instead becoming memes except for Aki Kimura. Controls, for me works better on PC because is the only way when you can use clutch and configure controls at your own style when in the console you have to adapt to the presettings
i still love prostreet one of my fav nfs games the soundtrack different car classes was amazing
This is my fev part of the franchise. Pro street Forever 🥰
Some of the King cars like Aki's car is good. And you can tune them in the practice mode
bro same i lost my copy of pro street, had to rebuy it
this game re-made on frostbide or something and update cars and not the crap "I drift everywhere to go faster" would be so awesome !!
Also to add on that 'Ryan cooper is not any of the previous players' thing, He is literally mentioned BY Name in undercover.
He is??? I never heard that when I played 😳 now I have to find this
@Bakuru its just a, quite frankly bad theory the community has came up with
Bro thought we have 2027
Prostreet is definitely far away from mid. This game is goated. Seriously. Perfect.
Good video . Pro street goat
I first got the PS3 version from a Gamestop in 2014 and my dumb 9 year old self thought it was the NFS game that released for that year.
Also, UNDERRATED CHANNEL SPOTTED! PROCEEDING TO CLICK THE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!
Thank you really appreciate the like and sub 💪
Most wanted (the old 1!!) with the blacklist
Pro street and then nfs heat are the 3 beat to ever come out. Yes underground 2 was nice with it but these are my top 3! I still have a copy of pro street for ps3
I still have my copy of Prostreet for the ps2! My ps2 is still kicking it like it came out the box brand new
i had the same top 3 until I remembered all the things I forgot about underground 2 (extremely customizable tuning for a street racer, being able to customize even the engine bay, having an airstrip to test top speeds, sponsors). heat is definitely underrated though
@faded7217 airstrip to test top speed?
I dont know if u got a mod on for it or what, but the damage indicators have zero gameplay affect on any version of the game. If it does, it’s incredibly dumbed down to the point where you can’t notice it without breaking out a calculator. Purely cosmetic.
The damage i think it works like an HP bar rather than performance issues
I remember picking this game up from a local game store. The cashier was ringing me up and he called his boy over and then said, "Yo look at the game this kid bought" and they just started HOWLING laughing. I'll never forget that shit because prostreet is probably my favorite in the series.
And I guess it was just me but I LOVED drifting in this game. The car you picked genuinely mattered. Like the announcers were saying the GT was a weird choice not because it was a muscle car, which could be argued its more than one, but because its mid-engine with incredible grip and balanced weight distribution, not really designed to go sideways and hold it. Muscle cars like the Chevelle were actually REALLY good choices for drifting. Though my personal fav and probably one of the best options for drifting was the RX7. The drift track on Tokyo dockyard was a fav of mine too in that car. Used to be pretty much drifting from turn one to finish in that thing, even on that straight away section that you have to manji through.
no shot they laughed at you for buying a banger game, lmaooo
@@justinfg Yeah it was like a couple years after it came out so the love for it wasn't there like it is now. They probably were fans of the OGs and ProStreet was just too different.
I get what he was saying in the video, but I agree that I liked it too. TBH, it would actually be extremely difficult to put REAL drifting mechanics into a video game. Countersteering is actually hard to realistically put into a game mechanic, because it's 2 mechanics clashing with one another. You can balance that in real life, when the 2 mechanics are working independently, but in a game where it's just code, it's actually almost impossible to make 2 codes "clash" intentionally 🤣 so considering that, I more so judge drifting mechanics on how it feels, how it LOOKS, and how much they can get into it.
The fact that, like you said, they actually manage to make different cars feel differently drifting is actually a very big plus, most games don't do that. Also, they make real drifting cars the better drifting cars in the game LOL for example, the RX-7 is largely considered the best drifting car in real life. Which is why it's the best drifting car in this game. That's also why the Drift King is the only difficult King to beat on here 🤣🤣
@Bakuru ...huh? Since when is countersteering hard to implement? Theres tons of games which do have countersteering
@lRedKill3r nah you missed what I mean LOL the actual physical process of countersteering is traction against momentum. You can't really do THAT with virtual code. So usually the "drift" in a racing game is one code simulating the motion. That's why it looks so "perfect" as the dude in the video said, because it has to be
this game was perfect game , i mean perfect ,only kids who didn't know anything about was hated this game
You should try the pepega mod of this. You will enjoy it defo.
I’ve seen it a lot but I’ve never tried before. Def will soon
@@justinfgit will have a lot more cars and new engine sounds. The LFA sounds perfect!!
honestly, this game birthed forza horizon. no other game was festival based till this came out lol🤷♀. had it been open world there wouldnt even be a speculation of midness
Such a nice video, could be better but i like it.
Thank you, I’m trying 🙏
Is pro street mid?…. lol nah bro, this in my top 5 nfs games. btw speed king a joke 😂
Edit- Top 3 in third place, that good
Also you can consider me a cheater in this game
What mods do you use?
I used Prostreet redux and raytracing HD
Mid and prostreet don’t go hand and hand whatsoever
I LiKE Pro Street PS2
Good game just not appreciated when it was released
I don’t know ANYONE who’s hating on Need for Street Pro Street, however if you were talking about NFS Unbound, that game deserves hate in my opinion
It was the prevalent opinion when the game came out. People just eventually grew into liking the game, happens awkwardly often with NFS titles
Based pirated windows copy
Nope one of the best nfs games was unfortunately not appreciated at the time
I think this game was actually underrated. The worst will still be undercover for me.
WHOS CALLING THIS GAME MID?????,
...about everybody when it came out
This game is a personal favorite of mine 💯🤘🏼👊🏼🤜🏼💪🏼🫵🏼😎
