- On Rock Rods episode 86 we are back at Hawk Pride Offroad Park in Tuscumbia, Alabama with one goal in mind and that is Making Rock Bouncing Great Again. That means no dirt hills just a bunch of massive rocks and ledges to truly put these Custom Built rock bouncers to the test. SRRS aka the Southern Rock Racing Series has been getting a lot of flack this 2019 season about running dirt hills for their Rock Bouncing Racing. Good thing that here in Alabama we have plenty of rock to make the perfect Rock Bouncing Hill Climb for SRRS Racing. It's crazy how the power of the Gold Rush buggy can get you out of spots that other buggy's would be stuck. I would like to see Timmy get in it and go up a good hill and just see what happens.

that gold rush chassis straight broke a rock in half
Comparing n/a hp to centrifugal hp, like hell bent vs gold rush, it looks like the more linear power curve of a n/a engine is better suited for this application. You can make the numbers either way, but the centrifugal setup will always lack bottom end being that it’s boost is rpm dependent.

Does turbo lag cause much of an issue in some of the slower and more technical sections? It's hard to tell from watching on video, but it's got me curious as to the benefits of natural aspiration or even a supercharger over turbos.
They each have their strengths, I like Supercharged

So I'm new to rock bouncers. If I'm correct it's a run what ya brung formula aside from safety. So my question is why are guys not using significantly more aggressive tread patterns? Our side by side and utvs have a much more aggressive tread then a lot of these trucks run. Not criticising just curious what the thought process is.
more aggressive like Tractor Tires? All of these tires are competition compound and cut to work in loose dirt and the rocks. And I don't know how you can look at a 46USD and not thing they are aggressive?
BustedKnuckleVideo I'm more into the mud world of off roading. Around my area everyone pretty much runs a tire called an assassinator. Which is a very aggressive large lugged tire similar to an r1 ag tire but not identical. Or they run an r1 ag tire just depends. I'm not suggesting these tires aren't aggressive. What I'm asking is why are they not using a larger lug/ deeper tread pattern tire? Is it that you guys aren't really worried about overall grip and are instead just relying on wheel speed to clear the tire and get you through? In one of your older videos two guys actually make a joke about running r1 again tires and mounting them backwards. Obviously I'm missing something because everyone is running a similar tire for the most part. That's what I'm trying to understand is what I'm missing. This probably the 10th video I have watched of yours and am enjoying it. 👍
many of the courses are a mix of loose dirt and solid rock, ag tires would help in the dirt but hirt you in the rocks so the cut tires that they run are a best of both worlds setup
