  • During a downwinder I crashed the kite while riding unhooked so the bar lines got crossed affecting steering.
The safest way to untangle is to get on land avoiding rocks or waves and search for an open space so you can self land safely and untangling both back lines on the ground after securing the kite.
Any attempts of untangling while on water is extremely dangerous and should be avoided even on light wind or waist deep water. It can result in even more tangling and letting to a complete eject risking other people downwind or even a death loop causing severe injury.
Make sure you practice extensively how to self land and self launch before any downwinder ride and do some research if there is any risky place for escaping the water in case you need it.

Yes, very much the safest approach. Would be better to have someone to catch the kite, but beginners shouldn't go at a spot where no one else is anyway.

Great video, keep posting!!! What spot is that? Do wear glows because of cold water? How do you like 679 compared to 633 and 683? How much wind for using your 679 with a 4mq kite?

Thanks. Gloves for avoid blisters kiting every day. Spot is Cumbuco - Brazil. Nice warm water all year. I weight 60kg so benefit from less lift and more steady speed on 679 and still carvy for wave riding. Even breaching on carves. I use a 4m wave kite above 18 knots on 679. Now I

Now I use a W800 S399 replacing W679 S483. Way more glide and speed and same low end so covers a lot more wind range and more fun because of easy pump and less drag.
