There is no excuse to guess yardage nowadays with rangefinders and moving sights. It was different in the mid 80s when I started bowhunting, but those days are long gone. If your target animal moves several yards, don't take the shot if there is any doubt. You owe that level of respect to the game.
I did this same test just the other day trying to figure out what arrows I wanted to shoot this year. Missed a big buck last year because of this . Was ranging up hill and when I paced it off it was a 5 yd difference. Shot right under him. Also makes not want to aim heart but slightly higher .
I've been practicing misjudging yardage all summer. My bow is smoking fast and my arrow is light, but the drop from 40 to 50 is six inches. Point being people keep saying inches matter in archery, they are 100% correct..
Are you planning on discussing your switch from PSE Archery to Hoyt Archery I would like to keep track of like one thing all the light Arrow big expandable broadheads that people have shot with L and then all the fixed place and see who if they could be honest has lost more
He has done a podcast with Hoyt discussing the switch if you want to check it out. Outfitters tend to trend towards big cut mechanical for most recovery due to average shots still killing and easy to track but if your good a fixed won't fail you. Everything has its limitations almost all good hunters agree middle ground is good for forgiveness and penetration 450 to 500 more if your slinging 80 pounds or extra long draw length.
Ranch fairy focusing on one aspect of hunting and throwing the rest out with the bathwater. while saying the industry is forcing stuff on you while simultaneously selling products to suit his narrative and being part of the Ashby foundation..... walking contradiction
The proper arrow weight is so forgiving. Great info here
Loving these different practice routines, really getting my mind outside of the box

That was a great demonstration. I now have to do that with my setup. On the level and from tree stand height. Thank you, John.
Nice Demo john, keep'em pumpin down range. 👊

That's a good looking bow dudley
This and learning trajectory shooting over/under stuff are the 2 most important things I don’t think get practiced enough by today’s bowhunters.

I’ve said for years people need to know their arrow drop. Especially with the heavier arrows or low draw weights.
👍
Was that bottom group of two arrows 2" apart?!😮 Have to tell my wife shes been measuring wrong😑😳

Ranch fairy living rent free in duds brain. He can’t let go of the heavy vs light arrow discussion he had with him.
I didn’t hear anything that dud said concerned a ranch fairy. Whoever that is must be living rent free in your head 😂
