I was hesitant to buy one of these, but after doing some research I went ahead and grabbed one. SO glad I did! This little bird is darn good at what it does, you just have to make sure you know what it doesn't do as well. After 40+ flights I am just as impressed as on day one.
Okay. I've owned mine for one year. The Flight plan software is great and easy to set-up. Because of the GPS, It never fails to complete its mission and return, even when disconnected from your controller, plus you don't have to fly the route first to set it up. You can do it from the comfort of your home without the drone running. I understand that's a safety concern but if you know the area and scout it properly, not really. Very sporty and responsive if that's what you're looking for though as with most cheaper drones don't expect it to stop quick when you've been flying like a mad hornet. There's considerable drift after releasing the stick. By today's ever increasing standards, photos and video are just okay and for some folks that's sufficient. If those two things are important to you, don't go Bebop2 cheap (I know, it's not cheap-cheap) or when you can, fly in only the best light. The customer service is frustrating as hell. It's in Egypt (yes, seriously) and everyone speaks with a strong accent, making communication under already difficult circumstances even more difficult. They are patient but you best be too. I knew the names of most every customer service rep there and they did not communicate well with each other in spite of case numbers. My drone was out of service for problems a lot. Different customer serv. reps will tell you different things. My experience is that it easily becomes disconnected from the Wifi signal in urban settings, even as little as 200 ft. straight overhead, not just when there are hills, trees or two-story buildings between you and it. Almost every time I fly it beyond 100 yards (evecn in the open) it loses connection, sometimes several times, anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute on avg. I use a mini iPad 4 and there's lag time, jerkiness and rolling in the video. Definitely keep this well within sight unless you're using the GPS flightplan. On that point, when flying the flight plan for any great distance (say one that doesn't go further than a half mile away), expect to lose connection so you cannot see where the drone is or make adjustments to the camera exposure or in the worst case scenario exit out of the flight plan in case of a potential collision. Scary stuff. On the positive side, it's well made, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. I've had my share of crashes and the worst to happen is a bent propeller and it still flew on restart but was noisy. Stay at least two hundred yards away from any cellphone towers. I lost mine in a lake for that very reason. The tower, less than one-hundred yards away. The Bebop disconnected and hovered in place until the battery ran out, dropping into 8 ft of water. I had no way to retrieve it. To their credit, Parrot replaced the entire drone, but it was a long an arduous procedure and I was without the drone for like a month and one-half. I see the price on it is dropping and with new and more advanced drones coming out, it'll probably be priced about what its truly worth. Just my opinion. The new replacement drone Parrot sent me ... has the same issues as the old one. Recently, 250 ft. directly overhead, antenna pointed up, the drone didn't respond to my pushing the "home" button. That's kind of important you know? I recommend keeping it close for sure in manual "free-hand flight" and don't expect to watch your whole flight through the nose if you fly very far out in the flight plan mode.
Also flight plan is much advanced than even the DJI for sure. Ian's the follow me does a great job too. The controller feels very well built and responsive as well. You won't get disappointed with bebop. That's for sure.
I've heard very good things about the flight planning capabilities, and I'm looking forward to testing them out for myself, now that we've got the preliminary testing done.
roswell flight crew i have the parrot fpv pack-skycontroller 2 and cockpitglasses it did not come with a parrot drone do i need the parrot bebop 2 drone to connect all together and if so where can i buy just the bebop 2 drone only please help
I appreciate the quality and detail of your video,I struggled watching what parrot puts out there for setup and its horrible. I sat with their instructions for an hour and could not get the skycontroller to connect to the bebop, just the blinking red light no matter what. According to their instructions you pair these two up before you hook your phone or ipad up. I ended up using the phone through wifi to connect to the drone, then hooked the usb cable up to the skycontroller and finally a green light :) A lot of messing around simply due to instructions that don't equal results. I am hoping I didnt make a mistake with this drone, the price was right. I am curious what your experience was with the FPV side of the kit?? Thanks again.
rchelicopterheaven It's best to turn wifi and BT off on your phone. It interferes with the Skycontroller's wifi and causes signal dropouts and reduced range.
Hey, Ryan! I'd go with the "H" -- given the choice and the price difference. As I assume you're aware, we've done extensive reviews on both, which you can find on our channel. I love the Q500, -- probably the best drone for beginning pilots, ever -- but the "H" is better in ways large and small, and for just $150 more, that's what I'd buy.
Excellent drone. Easy to repair yourself. Flys like a champion and takes excellent pics and decent video. I get up to 1.6 miles range and 25 min on each battery minimum. As I said best part is that it is VERY durable and repairable. I have mavic as well but I love flying bebop much more. Easy to set up and you are flying in 10 seconds.
Didn't do enough damage to require any repairs, but I believe it... We're also testing the Parrot Disco yet, which I managed to fly into a tree (being exclusively a multirotor guy, I wasn't fully prepared for the fixed-wing experience). Did some damage there, but it was easy to fix.
Should get the flight review video out in the next day or two... I was really surprised by how well the digital image stabilization works -- it's really like nothing I've ever seen before. You'll be able to see for yourself soon enough and make your own judgment!
Glad you could fix it if parrot would manage to put it offer camera replacement which would be 2k then it would be I think the best selling drone in market as a prosumer grade quadcopter.
A friend highly recommended the Bebop 2, so it's in the mail as my first drone. More important than the FPV headset is that the camera shoots in Adobe DNG, which is an uncompressed format editable in Photoshop. As a photographer, high-quality aerial photos = $$$$$.
You may take a look at my channel... there are 2 bebop videos. It is very versatile, you can fly with RC, smartphone, smartphone with gamepad and if you want, you can add a wifi repeater for range extension with a smartphone. It is flying very well, it is reliable and tough. The software stabilization is working fine. There is not every month a new release with name advanced or pro ;) But they are improving constantly the software. Follow me is working well. Biggest cons for me are: no SD card slot and the camera has problems to focus when it is below 0°Celsius. We will see what the CREW will tell after the flight test... ;) I am curious :)
Funny how the phantom fanboys or people that only can afford Walmart drones, complain about the bebop2..which it's an excellent drone for the price..I'm not a professional photographer or anything so the pic/vid quality is good enough for what I do..plus I have went over 2 miles with the skycontroller2, and if things get sticky ,the drone always comes back to me! I also like the way it looks (like a jet fighter rather than a weird squid) and the agility of it, not to mention that It's built tough enough that if you crash you won't break it easily...parrot customer service has been great to me too
Awesome comment dji fanboys see that there is no 4k on the drone and its suddenly trash i like this drone alot and think that people need an open mind when trying to compare a 400 dollar bebop 2 to a 900 dollar mavic
Is this like when Chris Anderson at 3DR stood up at the first InterDrone conference and told us all that, by January 2016, if a drone wasn't running the Linux operating system -- it's just a toy? How'd that work out for them, anyway? Hmmm... Anyway, DJI sure is selling a lot of toys these days...
I'd stop well short of saying it's terrible -- especially given the recent price cut from Parrot. In fact, at the current price, I'd argue it's downright attractive. However, it does take a radically different approach to several problems that people have considered settled for a while now, such as: How do you stabilize video? Brushless gimbal. Can you manually land the drone? Yes. I was just out today getting some additional content for the flight testing video, and I couldn't get it to land, and I couldn't override the auto-landing feature to make it land -- so it sort of danced around until it ran out of juice.
As a Phantom owner I've just bought the bebop 2 and I find it to be absolutely awesome, you must have had a faulty unit buddy, mine is incredible, and I love it.
Excellent machine still.

just ordered one of these. after just one try of my friends bebop 2 i was sold. really good fun. 👍 nice video thanks for sharing
How did the bebop work out for you
So I have a store near me where they have the Typhoon H for $749 and the Q500 for $599. Which should I get?
Hey, Ryan! I'd go with the "H" -- given the choice and the price difference. As I assume you're aware, we've done extensive reviews on both, which you can find on our channel. What is the purpose of the Configuration Button?

He's just fine, I'm happy to report. He started his own business providing IT consulting and services and it keeps him pretty busy these days.

Wonderful video as usual however that cannot be said for the parrot, which is terrible
