This is the first easy French video where I actually understood everything without looking at the captions :) I think the question being simple definitely helped with that but also I can tell that my listening is getting a lot better. Thanks easy French 🙏🙏🙏
Hi Lulcy--I'm having a LOT of difficulty with my listening, as I'm sure that happens to everyone just beginning to learn French, but man it upsets me. May I ask how long you've been learning French to be able to understand this video WITHOUT looking at the captions? I want to know approximately how long it'll take me to get to your level. :) Merci!
Hi @@ChrisstineLynnn! I’ve been learning French on Duolingo for about 963 days now and I think I watched my first easy French video a year and a half ago or so. I sometimes watch them as they’re uploaded although it’s not really a habit or routine. I remember when I first started watching I couldn’t understand any of it even if I tried reading the subtitles. But over time as I watched more and more, I guess you just start picking up on words and phrases and what they sound like when spoken quickly and casually because that’s exactly what’s happened for me! It takes a lot of focus, especially in the early stages, to latch onto what you’re hearing or reading as it’s being spoken but over time you get better at it. It’s the reason that my vocabulary and level of speaking are so much more advanced than what I’ve learned on Duolingo so far - there are all these words and phrases and mannerisms that people use all the time (not to mention the accent) which I’ve just absorbed by listening. It’s really fun :) Best of luck to you!! I’m a kid so I think patience for learning a new language has come easier to me than it might for you, assuming you’re an adult, just because adults have less time and they feel like they should be more competent and their brains are less elastic and stuff so it’s harder to learn or something. But as I’m sure you know, adults succeed at learning new languages all the time so obviously don’t let any of that discourage you. You got this, just be patient and stick with it and there’s a 100% chance that within 2-5 years you’ll be basically fluent TLDR: I’ve been learning French for 3 years and easy french has been by far the most helpful resource
@@lulcy789 Thank you so very much for all that info and for taking the time to write it. Wow, a year and a half until I may get to the 'don't need subtitles' phase. I will surely be patient and stick with it. I do agree with you-- even just listening to these videos, then when I go to my Duolingo lesson, somehow I swear it's a bit easier. Thank you again!! :)
I liked the question - simple but open for the interviewees to talk about a range of subjects, and there were good follow-up questions. Also quite a lot of past tense which I struggle with
These videos are very useful for those who know some French and wish to improve. But it's fascinating how the French write long words with every vowel, consonant and accent in place....And then slur over it all in speech!😊 1:50
Do the people being interviewed know how to view the published videos? Do you ever get comments from them? Wondering if they are proud of their brief encounter with stardom... they sometimes seem mildly embarrassed to recount the minutia of their plans, but to us, everything they do is wildly fascinating!
can anyone explain why the young guy said "des petits films" translated to movies? Like little/small movies or what? Why not just des films or something?
