I LOVE the amount of affection Kaz showers on the dog - on the table, getting ready to do the down & back and on the go around. And then when they win - the first thing he does is hug the dog!
@@susanroutt6690 Hi Susan. I've only ever owned the toy breed. My beloved Christian passed away last August. I've been called a "Poodle Snob" because I won't consider getting any other breed. That's fine by me. I'm having some health issues right now and I am on the mend. As soon as I am in a better position, I will be looking for another Poodle. This time though, I have decided to go the rescue route. Cheers Susan.
I used to have a little grey toy poodle his name was Orby. He was so sweet when he was a puppy he would whine and jump up onto my bed just to be near me😊
Kaz Hosaka, handler of Sage, been in showing 45 yrs, specializing in toy & mini poodles. Has may Breed & Group wins. He's retiring, may be was sentimental fave.
What an incredible group of finalists. I grew up with Poodles and German shepherds and my mother was an AKC breeder. They were a part of our family and I would watch how she would study the histories and lineages. When I saw the poodle stand after being placed down by her handler and trot off I knew we were looking at perfection. As the poodle got comfortable with the applause she radiated elegance and happiness and showed incredibly. I so badly wanted to see the Giant Schnauzer win as I now own a Giant Schnauzer but that Poodle is perfection. The German Shepherd had one of the most elegant strides I've ever seen in a German Shepherd but the Poodle was absolutely fabulous and immaculate. Congratulations to all those beautiful dogs and handlers. Congratulations to the Poodle and what a wonderful achievement for the handler who is now retiring. I was crying happy tears as well 💓
Glad to see someone understands what dog shows about. Its not about which is liked by one that owns a breed, & think that one should win . And those poodle hating bc of show clip, are ignorant. Sage was groomed to perfection , & Mercedes, th gliding smooth effortless gait..
Kaz Hosaka, Sage handler, retiring after 45 yrs. He was in his 20s, I knew him when I was showing Irish Setters, in 80s. He had many wins w/ toy& mini poodles,
I doubt they will ever find a beautiful dog like that in a shelter… dogs like her are only seen a few times in ones life time. And they take a lot of work and training and high quality good food and shots baths brushing special care . And if they don’t want there teeth to fall out they don’t feed raw soft food. It’s dangerous. They need good quality dry chunks to help keep the tarter off the teeth so they don’t end up with gum disease and you don’t have high vet bills. I raised 56 champions mostly American Cocker spaniels and standard poodles.
I knew Ann Rogers Clark , poodle breeder, first Westm win was w/ toy Poodle. After handling became all breed judge, of some over 100 breeds, I probly showed my Irish Setters at that time in 80s, she may have judgedthem . I think she was judge at Westm. more then any other. She was called " A national treasure". Passed in 06.
I hoped for the poodle and when she won I began to cry with her handler. What an amazing end to a lifetime for caring for dogs and loving them so! Congratulations!!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!
Thank you Sage for bringing your A game so your beloved handler Kaz could retire at the top of the mountain!!!! Stunning poodle handled by a dedicated handler!
Sage was the ugliest dog there. Not really her fault though, she is a show poodle and humans have ruined many a dog by making them show dogs. She’s a useless ornament who wont even walk to the show ring. 🤢 in no way is she best in show
Each of these dogs need a whole anime, cant tell me that gandalf of a shih tzu isnt a inter-dimensional floof mop that cleans tiny planets with cuteness
Loved the Giant Schnauzer, but they all looked as they were trotting - or floating if you couldn't see the legs because of the long coats - on air. Pure charm and grace.
I don't understand why in the US they show Schnauzers still with ears and tail cut. This is cruel and forbidden for long here in Europe. I'm a retired prof handler.
Been acceptable for decades, & done for reasons. I'm a dobie fancier, that is their " look" don't need w/ them ! U may have th perfect conformation specimen bt won't win here in US bc AKC standard calls for be cropped& docked. Not cruel, tails done 2-3 days after birth, ears under anthesia,& properly cared for will be fine. Th bushy tailed like, Corgis, Springers, Welsh, Clumber, Ausies... actually look better w/ tails. But I prefer cropped docked Scnauzers, Corsos, tails off rottw. & ears off AmStaff..
They do the tails when 3 days old they do feel it and it’s still allowed in England and other countries because they don’t feel it if done right. Ears look better cropped on schnauzers and all the ones that are usually shown that way they are supposed to do that around 4 months and they deaden the ears so they don’t feel it tails on working dogs like that it’s not only for looks it’s for safety if they are doing their job it can get broken or worse ripped off by another animal. Read your AKC dog books. Pets don’t need ears done but tails yes.
All the dogs and owners did an amazing job ! Congratulations to the runners up and a special and heartfelt congratulations to Sage and Mr Hosaka! Last Show what a way to go out! Don’t get no better then that!!❤
I remember when Kaz was starting out I was showing standard poodles 4 championships I had finish their Championships. Tim Brazier was my handler for 2 and the late Bob Peebles helped finish the other 2. Loved Kaz so gifted. Sad to see him retire.
I've shown dogs; even if it was just in 4-H. Both obedience and conformation. And I will say without a doubt that the dog(s) who win WANT to win. They become very competitive being on the show circuit. And they often compete against a lot of the same dogs. Friendships between dogs develop; also rivalries. It's a marvelous world to be in. I miss it! Some of them actually get snobbish, over proud of their own success. Never doubt they enjoy competing. If they didn't; they wouldn't be winners! And these dogs are LOVED!
Yes they do enjoy th attention, are crate trained frm puppy hood, I showed Australian terriers, & Irish Setters in 80s, was a fun world, course we're rivalries, between breeders of same breed, who's dog(s) were best, & critized behind their backs to others. "that dog shouldn't have won, look at its bad hocks, top line, ear set, eyes, ...etc.they could be catty ..but there were get togethers, dinners socializing after th shows I was into terriers,& showed at th all Terrier Show in NY day before Westminster, & Montgomery County , Pa. They were good times !!
🏆🏆🏆🏆when you're first dog ever was a long haired chihuahua ❤previous dog black haired miniature poodle and current amazing dog is an apricot toy poodle! Well my poodles never could compete with such fantastic hair do 😂😅😂😅 Amazing breed absolutely adorable Well done UK 🇬🇧 😊
To think God gaves us dogs to love and enjoy brings a tear to your eyes. We had to put our dog down and that was years ago. It was so hard to do. He was part of the family.
So very, very, happy Mercedes won the First runner up. The reserve winner. She was absolutely gorgeous. Loved ❤ her. Congrats to Sage. She was precious. 🤗⚘️⚘️🇺🇸✌️🙏🌟🌟🐾🐾🐾🥩🦴
Sporting group a cocker spaniel, I just can't picture a Cocker Spaniel bringing a duck back to me! Them poodles always win, always. High maintenance and beautiful and I might add so very smart. I had a Terri Poo and she was so smart, the smartest dog I ever owned. Wendy was her name and her mother was a pure bred poodle and there was an opps and we got Wendy. Anyone of these fur babies could have won their all exceptional. I love them all but my favorite I think is the Shih Tzu as this one doesn't take their eyes off the handler. They so aim to please. I love this one
I want to give all these dogs a treat.
Inbreeding human= 🤮
Inbreeding dogs= good?
Animals treat like objects! I feel like in circus!!! Desgustig. People are cruelty creatures.
yes!!!! I showed my parents dogs at a young age . I miss showing dogs
Indeed. Just astounded to see so FEW people there at the MOST IMPORTANT show of the entire thing. Sad. It's usually PACKED.
The poodle is fabulous and Kaz is a marvelous handler . Congratulations to him.
I LOVE the amount of affection Kaz showers on the dog - on the table, getting ready to do the down & back and on the go around. And then when they win - the first thing he does is hug the dog!
I’ve never watched one of these, but I stilled teared up at the end. Such a great story - and what a dog!!
The German Shepherd was awesome - the way she runs is a trot! All beautiful dogs!!
Only th Germ Shep has that " flying smooth effortless gait"
Her Handlers won Best In Show a few years ago with a German Shepherd that he owns. Beautiful Germans.
My two favourite breeds, the Shepherd and the Poodle. I have been a Poodle owner for years and they are the most wonderful dog!
My daughter got a poodle and my entire family “poodled up”. 3 standards and two minis… so far. 🥰

The same handler also won the 2002 best in show with the miniature poodle Surrey “Spice" Girl. He is dedicated to show the breed!
Oh no way!
Do you think he'd volunteer his children for my pure breeding program?
Kaz Hosaka, handler of Sage, been in showing 45 yrs, specializing in toy & mini poodles. Has may Breed & Group wins. He's retiring, may be was sentimental fave.
Spice beat Mick the Kerry Blue Terrier, the first dog to win both Crufts and Westminster. (Mick won the latter in 2003.)
I'm looking for volunteers for my pure breeding program. Do you think he'd let me pure breed his children? Or would that be unethical?
Gorgeous German Shepherd 😍
Perfect type, effortless correct gait, breeders are breeding back to correct type, not over angulated over sloped, roach backed , as were
My favorite breed ❤❤❤

All dogs are beautiful. Sage, congratulations. Excellent job to Kaz!!
I hope this encourages people to adopt black dogs. They are often overlooked in shelters.
As are black cats,. but black labs are very popular
All of them were great but my vote was for the afghan hound

Thrilled for Kaz! I remember when he first came to the US to work for Annie and Jim. He has worked so hard over the years.

Wow, Kaz Hosaka's 45th and Last Westminster Dog Show... Congratulations and Blessings to him! Go Sage! ❤❤❤🧡🧡🧡👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

German Shepard was amazing. What a beauty🐾❤️
The Afghan Hound was my favorite, he/she seemed to be having such a good time❤️

Mercedes was my Best In Show!! Such a beautiful German Shepherd!!
Seems like they rarely choose the larger dogs
Mine too!
horrible disfugurement of the breed
I agree!
Me too - elegant, beautiful and useful!
Just amazing the judge got not only best in show correct but also the reserve. Truly amazing Westminster Show indeed. I love dogs so much !!
I've never not cried all the way through. Beautiful amazing Doggies!
LOL that beautiful little poodle had such a poof of hair she almost looked standard and she was carried everywhere
These dogs are amazing ❤

GSD’s & Poodles have been my favorite since childhood.
German shepherd is the best❤
Judge is giving Carol Burnett energy. The evening wear always kills me.
Right?!? 😂
Me Too. 🇦🇺
This is our Oscars, Super Bowl, Tony Awards, Emmys. We get glammed up for it! :)

Beautiful German Shepherd 🥇❤🏆🇦🇺
Congratulations Koz, Annnie is smiling and knew you had what it took. She is stunning
I remember when Kaz first arrived here, Annie talking about his complete obsession to learn and do well at handling. That's what it takes to succeed.
Afghan hound was most gorgeous but they can’t win every time I get it
I love POODLES 😂❤❤🎉
For me it was the Giant Schnauzer. Just perfection !
Absolutely! i might be a little biased, though. 😁
They all been judged best of breed, group win, all are fine representatives , comes down to showmanship at this level , Sage certainly " asked for it"
That was an impressive Schnauzer.
@@SG-mj3dj He certainly is !
The Giant Schnauzer was my choice too! Just stunning.

I don't know how they pick a best in show.... they are all beautiful creatures.
Yes!!!!! I love my poodle and all poodles. I really love the Pumi. I want a Pumi
Great show. That haircut helped the winner.
Beautiful animals❤
There all ADORABLE❤❤
I LOVE CANICHES💕💜
Respect to manger. A master!!!
There was no competition. The poodle ate, and left no crumbs.
"ate it", 😝 old fogey here, just learned what that meant !! Yes is true!!
So much work, so much training, so much stress, so much dedication. You can see it all over his face, this meant everything to him.
Congratulations Sage!
They're all good boys and girls!
The ladys are CHAMPS!!!!
I wanted the German Shepherd to win. I wish the hair style wasn't such an influence on who wins.
No it's not only th condition of th dogs hair/ coat, also conformation , that's why are moved, hair can cover faults, but not thmovement/ gait.
I just love this.
Yeah!!!!!! Way to go Sage! She made daddy proud. Good girl!
don't let Khristy Noem in the building.
She was disgusting for that
Lol politics. Always ruins everything!

So happy he won . RIP Kaz
Poodles are magnificent

King Clarence all the way.... if you know, you know!
I hope ppl wld also see how beautiful mongrels are.
Give stray mongrels a chance to hv a cosy home. All dogs deserve a good life and family.
Great dogs! Especially my favorites, Germand Sheperd and Miniature Poodle ❤! Congratulations 🐾❤️!
She's ACTUALLY made her choice. (As opposed to conceptually making her choice, presumably.)
So very, very, happy Mercedes won the First runner up. The reserve winner. She was absolutely gorgeous. Loved ❤ her. Congrats to Sage. She was precious. 🤗⚘️⚘️🇺🇸✌️🙏🌟🌟🐾🐾🐾🥩🦴
Wheres King Clarence? I want a recount!
Dadimir Putin dropped the ball and totally sabotaged him AGAIN!
He had serious chances at his class☝️😁
The giant schnauzer was amazing.
The vast amount of knowledge those judges must have to judge on the spot is astounding.
Wonderful ❤❤❤❤
Sage is beautiful ❤🎉
I’m crying for Sage
The German shepherd is the only one I like. I think the fancy cuts look weird.
All cool..wonderful
