  • In this video we are taking a look at how to create hundreds of buildings with grasshopper with ease. In that way, if you have rectangles, you can create hundreds or thousand of buildings without any problems whatsoever and have them change according to your needs.
This video is aimed at beginners in Grasshopper and Rhino, so you can get along and learn as well.

You’re work is great. Could you do a Video of a parametric floor plan?

      Hey super cool question.
There is a lot of work going into that of automatic floorplan creation, however it is a rather complicated topic that is already getting solved by so many people, which is great :)
I think that it is a good idea to make maybe a simple solution of how you could make a basic approach in grasshopper and scale it up to a massive degree, but a good way of solving it is actually with a great library of floorplans that then will be trained by an AI and applied to the needed form, lets see when this will be on the market :D
Thank you for that great comment :)

    hey man, great stuff!
At 4:22 you mention 'flattening' what does that actually do
and also is there a way to edit the commands to create 'hip' roofs

Hey there, flatting basically means that all the different groups (they are called branches in grasshopper) are brought to the same level.
Lets say, you would have a 3 branches of rectangles, and I would assign 3 other branches of height. The branches now correspond to each other and change accordingly. However, once I flatten the branch or the complete tree, this connectivity gets lost, and they would only work on one input, instead of three.
I think there are defnitely ways to create roofs that are more unique and have different gable direction and include windows.
that's actually a good idea for a future video, i will look into that
