Should anyone mix good Plugs with old Ones ? General answer is NO ! if you want to clean the old plugs use the old ones but Should Avoid Mixing the old and new just to save some money as it may cost you in the long term of the vehicle...Tip of the Day !
Symptoms of bad spark plugs can include but not limited to Symptoms of bad spark plugs can include, lack of acceleration,...hard to starts, Engine generally misfires, and not forgetting Rough idling.
When removing old plugs use WD-40 or similar to spray on to the plugs and leave it for a few hours or over night this will help loosen the plugs and make removing them easier
What 10mm socket? You work on rc nitro engine or what? That's way too small for normal cars, 14-18mm here it is 16mm. I had 17mm once, but 10mm no way, 8mm is glowplug on single cylinder two stroke rc cars
if you have one you can use an automotive scan tool like a ODB2 Scanner , usually they have software to test the efficiency of the plugs and sometimes give you an answer if they need replacing or even which particular one
Spark plugs have two primary functions , 1. To ignite the air/fuel mixture, transferring electrical energy through the wire to ignite the fuel in the main combustion chamber.
Always Note when spark plugs are changed in the service manual/book for future reference, and if the vehicle is to be sold as this adds value to the selling price
Some DIY Mechanics don't know that WD40 also helps avoid corrosion on spark plugs. It removes the dust and dirt from the spark plugs. It lubricates them. It improves the connectivity of the spark plugs, this is also the same for other engine parts like batteries, alternators, and distributors....Just thought i let DIYers know this as i like to help people
When removing old or highly used spark plugs you must ensure that EXCESS force is not used when cranking them As they can Snap , this will cause you a great deal of financial Pain, as the engine block need to be removed and the spark / glow plug needs to be drilled out manually
Do allow the engine to Cool before any work is carried out preventing burns , this includes the entire Exhaust system, if you are working from underneath the car
Only if you don't get them out you can remove them while the engine is hot! The right tip should be: Only install and tighten sparkplugs on cold engine block! Never attempt to screw them in while the engine is hot!!!
Could be fun on modern multi electrode versions :-) If you buy the right type and quality parts its definitely a no... Professional workshop got no time for that
Spark plugs do vary in the Quantity needed depending on the amount of cylinders the engine has can be 2, 4 , 6 ,8 ,10 and even 12 plugs needed, some engines can have 2 or more spark plugs per cylinder.
It is a good idea to use copper grease on the New Plugs Thread to ensure future replacement is easier to carry out ..stops any rust or ceasing of the plugs hence avoids snapping the plugs...this also applies to GLOW PLUGS too
I heard that too but maybe ceramic paste is better? Copper does "corode" and gets green with time and on an aloy engine block mixing copper under heat and pressure can lead to burn in... So no no on modern cars, clean threads and the right torque should do
Facts ! ...... iridium spark plugs can last up to 25% longer than comparable platinum spark plugs but tend to be more expensive , but defiantly worth it.
When to replace spark plugs ? this is mainly dependant on the make and model of the vehicle. do check with the manufacture of the vehicle first before any purchases
Always remember that changing the spark plugs is a way of assuring top efficiency and performance and it helps produce less harmful emissions from the exhaust
The electrical energy is transmitted through the spark plug, jumping the gap in the plugs firing end if the voltage supplied to the plug is high enough. 12V usually
@@terry.chootiyaa yes we did.. He's not right, the plug itself doesn't get supplied with 12V end of message. Even if the supply voltage of the whole circuit is 12V which he clearly not said
Try to Avoid mis-diagnosing the problem of Spark Plugs as a ruptured of the intake manifold gasket can also lead to misfires... this is why i say use a SCANNER OBD2 to diagnose any problems before had.
Misfiring of Spark Plugs can also be caused if the gap in the plus is too wide , so do check with the manufacturer for the correct GAP width. ..some times it is stated on the BOX of the Spark Plugs
I have personally found that when i remove all the spark plug in my car repairs and maintenance i sometimes shoot a small amount of engine oil into each spark plug hole, then i rotate MANUALLY by hand the engine to ensure that there are no other issues with the engine.
Performance Spark plugs will have upto 3 electrodes per plug and is more effective and better in providing a longer life span along with better fuel economy if you use the vehicle on a daily basis compared to a single electrode Spark Plug.
Great Vid as usual! But, I think this works great for a normal B200. I think with the Turbo version, there are a few things that are in the way. Perhaps a video on sparkplug removal on a B200 (W245) Turbo someday? Thanks!

If you are Storing your car for a long term period it is a good idea to remove the Spark Plugs and replace them with a set of "ENGINE DESICCANT SPARK PLUGS" these will help prevent rust ,corrosion and Moisture from building up in the engine and will keep your engine in pristine condition......worth checking out !
There are alternate types of spark plugs that can be used too ... these are Iridium and Platinum plugs that are chosen for their longevity mainly, the main difference is the material that the TIPs of the spark plug is made of ,normal ones are usually copper, whereas the other two have tips made out of platinum or iridium, that is the only main difference
Iridium spark plugs give you even better gas mileage along with performance, reliability, and longevity than double-platinum plugs....worth considering when replacing plugs

Spark plugs don't last forever you know ! they deposit buildup of soot and other engine waste over time, they also expand making it harder for the spark plug to make electrical contact ..Hence Causing misfiring !

For videos like this, definitely need better angles or even a diagram/manual to help better illustrate positions as I know the room in an engine bay can be tight
From my experience in life i have learnt that a wet spark plug can be the result of the engine flooding. ... You can clean the spark plugs or you can just wait for them to dry out before attempting to start the engine ...this was usually always the case with Older model cars
? The older engine has a carburetor which is not set hop right that's what's the problem. W245 or B200 does not, if spark plug is wet the could is broken
certain manufacturers develop through R&D Advance Plugs for longer lifespan, Pay that Extra and buy the BEST it really is worth it i know from experiance
Hello, i have the exact same car, while driving i notice that it seems to struggle accelerating and engine seems to shake while on idle so i always go on neutral while in idle mode , do i need to change all 4 spark plugs? Would appreciate your reply, thanks
