I'm loooking at a land rover thats been 4inch body lifted and it looks too much, is it a case of undoing the 12 mounts and replacing the spacers with 2inch ones and lowering back down?
4 inches seems excessive. Should be 10 mounts but you also have to consider everything else assuming they did it right. Bumpers front and rear may need changed. Transfer case linkage was likely modified. The radiator should also be spaced up to match the 4 inch lift so you need to fix that. Im not sure what they might have done to make the steering shaft work with that lift but I would definitely inspect it. Does it have any suspension lift? or an engine swap the may have needed the extra space?
@@jacobcoleak47 thank you. Its also had a 3inch suspension lift, using OME, it's been done correctly using Gwyn Lewis parts. Original 300tdi auto engine and box. I just thought the 4inch body lift was too much and wondered how easy a job it would be to lower it 2 inches.
@@elliot330 you should be able to do everything with the vehicle sitting on the ground. Iv alway used a tractor with a loader bucket to lift the body but an assortment of blocking and a jack will do the job. The best advice I can give you is lift it slowly off of the spacers and keep checking your wiring and lines. Its much easier to disconnect things from the start than try to fix them later.
The shifter for the automatic trans is mounted to the body connected by a cable that has a large amount of slack. It will not be affected by the body lift. The transfer case shifter used mechanical linkage that is mounted solid to the trans/transfer case. It will require a an extension equal to the lift. A nut and bolt that matches the thread on the shift knob can be welded to a small section of pipe with the nut threading to the original shift lever and the knob threading to the bolt. An excessive body lift would prevent the lever from moving far enough to shift the transfer case but 2 inches allows enough throw with out further modification.

can this be done on a drive or do you need a ramp?
