I used to do work for a local guy (sadly now gone) who had one of these. Did the tranny, overdrive, complete engine rebuild, (upgraded valve seats) many other things etc. "Ask the man who owns one" was their sales line. It was said that after the war was over for about five years and auto production was going well anyone who wanted a Packard had one. They were a long lasting auto and sales droped off. Some said they put themselves out of business.
Absolutely beautiful car. But I swear it sounds like it has a tire separating. Reason I say, the faster he goes, the faster the noise, and the slower he goes, the slower the sound. Then stop when he stops. Check those tires 😮!!!
What a pleasure it must be to own such a magnificent machine!
That ole gal just glides along pretty darn good for 84. The old Packards were sone well made cars.
Ah the sound of that mighty straight 8 as it pulled away in the last seconds of the video.
Congratulations, an extraordinary car and excellent video.
Beautiful restoration! If only I had....

Always astounded at how quiet these Pack' are compared to the same vintage Ford or Chevy.
They used to say these engines were so smooth you could balance a quarter on the block

Our new stuff isn't this quite and smooth. We have gone backwards instead of forward in 80 years.
