- Google Forms makes collecting information easy, but sometimes you don’t want everyone to be able to fill out your form. Have you ever wanted to set restrictions on who could complete your Google Form? There are multiple ways of accomplishing this and the above video will walk you through two different options.

I spent two days to find this solution! Thank you so much!!!
This worked for me up until a year ago, and now the concatenate formula seems not to be recognized in my google form. I see the banner that says these options will only work with the old version of google forms. Is there still a way to use the old version of google forms? Or is there a new way to make this work in new google forms?
Great tutorial. Thank you. 5 years later and Google still hasn't added a built-in feature to limit access to Form Submissions...
The password does not correspond to certain user or column. So as long as I have one of the passwords, I can submit the form. Is it possible to make the entry correspond to certain user with certain password? Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial. There’s no way I could have figured this out on my own.
What happens if a Student ID is repeated in a subsequent submission? How do you ensure that there is only one submission per Student ID?
Great tutorial. Is there a way for me to restrict certain users (identified by name or contact number) from completing the google form? like a blacklist list?
How should I use this in new version?
I love this! However, my student ID list is over 1000. Do you happen to know the maximum number of IDs that I could validate?
Did you try it?
Thank you very much. But I see that the same ID number can be use twice if the person has two gmail addresses
Thank you so much for this! I am helping to organize a Mock Election and we are going to give students the choice between voting online vs. a drop-off ballot. A teacher was concerned about people possibly voting twice. I think I can take the people who sign up for a paper ballot with their email and use that info to prevent them from participating in the online ballot as well. I'm sure there are other hacks, but this is great to know for the concern we have. Thank you!
oooooh. how did your mock elections go? because we're in the same boat
Hey man, I think you need a more individual specific key. I myself have four different email ID
Anyone can enter another's ID & enter. So, can we restrict the access of the form itself? Yes, we have that restrict to organization option, can we restrict further to particular accounts?
Hey, what type of question did you use for the student ID number?
Can someone post his CONCATENATE formula?
Hi, but what if we have a lot of ID numbers, and it will make an nvalue already? how can we restrict out participants?
There appears to be a character limit now when you paste from the spreadsheet. Last year this process worked with 1700+ ID numbers (12663 characters), now I hit a limit after 6217 characters. Anyone know of a workaround?
I have been trying to do same and it is not accepting the characters
HELLO, is there a way google forms validation can restrict a number from been entered more than once??
Fabulous. Thank you so much.
How can I keep users from editing the form when submitting information?
can this student ID be unique or non repetitive ?
One question: Basically will i be informed that what password the user have entered as shown in the video i.e if student A has entered 123456 will it be shown
Super helpful! Thank you!!!
The same thing is not working when I did🙁, why?
How do I limit the student to only login with his/her ID number only once for that particular form? this way, the student can only login one time
I managed to do this, however in Excel 2010, when I want to do this for about 300 students, however beyond 40 students this doesnt happen
In the first, does each student have specific ID?
i am not able to find advance setting
Great stuff! Thanks for posting
Very useful tips. Thanks.
please explain the concatenation formula again
This video was so helpful! Thank you very much for posting.
It doesnt work for me? I dont know what i am doing wrong?
Is there a way to restrict access to specific candidates to selecting specific options/ from a list?
Hi there! Have you managed to find an answer so far?
are you limited to how many ID # you can enter?
Is it me or is this really blurry???
Thanks for posting this video. very useful
How it do now
Excellent stuff!
Thanks! It helps a lot!
Thanks so much! Sooo helpful!
i cant find this format...how to do it?

Thank you so much. Really it's very helpful
Hey, I can't find the option for advanced settings for questions
response validation
You really solved my big issue. Thanks !
Thx soo much. Thisnis seriously helpful
This is superb
Helped a lot, thanks
We need the CODE
Thank you So much
this is what i'm looking for....thank you
is it working?
No, as long as they have one of the passwords, they can submit the form
Is there a way in which we can limit the Google form to be filled out by only the owner of the form? I created a system to take attendance using QR codes through a Google form on a spreadsheet, but I need. The Google form to be filled out only use in my use your name as a teacher, is there a way in which I can do that?
Yes. In the sharing settings (collaborators) make sure you are the only one in the field. When they try opening the QR code, they will be required permission.
Wency Guerrero Hi there, I tried doing what you said but it didn’t work. Any other suggestion? Thanks!
@@sisisobrinoalvarez8612 Hi, so sorry. I replicated it using my personal email and it seems it will only work if you have a paid G-suite. I was using my work account that is why it was giving me that option.
Not working for my form😔😔😔
Help me...
I really love you man
Perfection!
It helps me in my online voting
Me Too, You really solved my big issue. Thanks
I have the same issue and I can´t found a solution. If you have more than 1000 ids you should use another solution. If someone found a good one I really appreciate it. Thanks
thank you so much. and now I have an idea. I found out that my student fake his identity in my google form just to see the question to look and prepare the answers and I was looking for more secure way to identify them besides than their name and gmail. thank you so much
Great ... make a password that is shared. OR give everyone their own password ... that they can't change because you created and controlled the password process. And passwords are in the clear. Something that looks so promising, like Google Forms/Google Sheets integration, ends up less than useless. I often think that the IT world is going backwards at times when I see stuff like this.
Dude you are actually a god! :D
done thanks
Wow - that's maddeningly insecure. All you have to do is right click on the form and hit inspect, and you'll get all the acceptable fields. :(
hi could you explain which part did you mean as maddeningly insecure. I like to try to follow the tips in this video but i am very bad at formula. so if you have other way to set up user id, a good explanation or tutorial would be a great help to me. thanks in advance!
@@kpoplovers92 The part where this method transmits the list of acceptable passwords in the html code when the user opens the form.
Hi, may I know why i can't restrict Google Form Participants after trying the first method?
1. create a new response sheet
2. key in the id
3. set the formula
4. in the response expression, click match and copy the formula from the last id row in the pattern
but still can't work😟
Hello, excellent video. Thanks. But is there a way to restrict some specific emails or mails that are from other schools? To avoid copy my form. For example restrict: alva@gmail.com, all the emails that contain @school.com. Is this possible? I really appreciate if you can help me.
