Omg this is going in my tbr It sounds like one of my fever dreams Note: autocorrect changed tbr to throat, and I just imagined shoving the book down my throat XD
What a great review! Steampunk elements, a middle-aged protagonist, numbered rains and something as coolly-named as Winnowfire? Sound sooooo cool. I like having the lore unfold as you read provided it's not as purposely obtuse as, say, Malazan. I also LOVE when characters' voices are so distinct that you can have a page of dialogue with no tags and know exactly who's talking. Love that. That's a problem with Rage of Dragons...I CANNOT tell when there is no dialogue tags...among other issues lol
Oh wow I am so glad this series is getting some love. Jen Williams is great. Her other series (Copper Cat Trilogy) is also phenomenal. Always found it a shame they're still relatively unknown outside the UK.
I just finished reading this book and sought out some reviews to see what everyone else thought. Thanks for the excellent video! I love how you framed all the different sub-genres all coming together, and how the characters (motivations and relationships) drove this story. I also like your breakdown of the letters; they can be a lazy way to info-dump, but I think we needed it clear and direct to help get us up to speed on this complex world. I liked this book a lot! I'm glad you did too.
I'm so glad you read this and liked it! I love this series so much and I've been hoping more people would read it. It is one of the most unique series I've ever read. I love the fantasy/sci-fi mix.
Just finished this. Five stars. Amazing! What a set up. I noticed the name of book two pops up toward the end of the book. I am guessing we might get a new perspective in book two.
I got this book after watching this review. I'm in love with the book. Thanks a ton for the rec! I'm already queuing to buy the rest of the trilogy as soon as they get back into print.
Just started reading this one and I'm only about 100 pages in but I'm completely hooked on how bizarre and cool and ominous this world is and can't wait to keep reading and learn more about it.
Just bought this whole trilogy on a whim and now I can't wait to dive into it asap!! You made it sound really fun, so fingers crossed I will love it as well! Great video :)
it's like you know my tbr too, The Priory of the Orange Tree and also this?! I am super glad we got similar tastes and you read faster than I do so I can check if they're worth my time :)
I caught in to this book when you compared it to Elden Ring. I'm not even halfway done with this audio book and it's incredible! Thank you so much for this recommendation! Are there any "If you like this, then try this" recommendations you have for this book?
Loved the whole trilogy :) Pretty unique and moving, super fun characters. Another hidden fantasy gem I'd recommend is the Green Rider series which I picked up on a whim and I'm now losing sleep on book 6.
I have read Ninth Rain and loved it so much I immediately bought the sequels... which I haven't got round to reading of course. Your review makes me want to reread it though, and then finish the trilogy.
Hmm, sounds like an interesting book. Might add it on to the list, but not sure it would really stick with me, especially if I can't get super super connected with the characters, but maybe I'd be surprised.
Need to put this on my tbr feels like 🤔 and btw are you interested in reading an adult renaissance fantasy/gothic novel that I released earlier this month? Thanks in advance!
I don’t think it’s too dense for a 14 year old, but there is some language, and a little bit of sex in the book, although it’s not extremely detailed. Hope that helps!

I’ve heard you talking about this book for years now. I decided to finally pick it up. I’m about 30% in. It’s very creative.

Hahaha, I can’t wait for your Rage of Dragons review 😆 The rains have to do with the tree...I don’t want to give away how though!

Sounds intriguing! I like genre-defying, eclectic reads, so I might need to give this a look. I love your descriptions of the characters!

This is pretty cool because I have been interacting with Jen Williams for years, even before she wrote her first book. She's wonderful.
The Farbod that’s good to know!
The Winnowing Flame trilogy is the best series I've read in years. I almost never give a book five stars, and I gave five stars to all three.
Haven't finished whole review yet but I already know it's going on my TBR immediately. So intriguing !

Just started reading this one and I'm only about 100 pages in but I'm completely hooked on how bizarre and cool and ominous this world is and can't wait to keep reading and learn more about it.
I started reading this because I find our tastes often align and I am loving it.
Well, you made that sound so interesting, I might just have to add it on my TBR. 😊 Plus, I just saw it won the British Fantasy Award in 2018!
oooo i bought this recently and have never seen anyone talking about it but this sounds like i would love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am reading it right now. Halfway through and loving it.
I'm getting my first kindle in a few days and this is going to be my first book on it.

Happy to see Jen Williams reviewed, I like her writing a lot 🤓
Adding this to my TBR!
Sounds interesting! I've added it to my wishlist, thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing this book, I'd never heard of it.
You’re very welcome! :D
Sounds like a great read. The cover caught my eye a while ago and with your review I must give it a try now.
I'm here mostly for the cover, its amazing!
Oooo I have never heard of this book! I love getting new fantasy recs since that is mostly what I read!
I definitely need to pick this one up! It sounds fantastic!
Have a great weekend reading to you!!
You should totally read Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth. It has a wonderfully crafted world and some pretty awesome character development.
I caught in to this book when you compared it to Elden Ring. I'm not even halfway done with this audio book and it's incredible!
Thank you so much for this recommendation!
Are there any "If you like this, then try this" recommendations you have for this book?
This book wasn't available on any of my audiobook apps. . . So I just bought a physical copy because of this recommendation. It sounds amazing!
This sounds like a promising author for me to check out in general. Thanks for letting us know about her!
I had added this to my TBR last time you mentioned it but after this review I've just reserved it from my library, can't wait to read it!
The book is hard to find, my library doesn't have it. Kindle doesn't have it and its expensive on Amazon. It sounds really good though.
It’s not as expensive on book depository I believe! If you don’t mind the wait of shipping :)
@@ebnovels Just found it and added it to my cart.

The ending of book 3 is just plain awesome!😁
Ah yay! I already purchased the next two :D
Looks promising. Been looking for a good series to get into. This might be the one

You are simply awesome to listen to.
You had me at “Indiana Jones”. 😄
I want to try this now. I’m trying to limit my book buying because of low budget, so maybe in January!
Did you finish the series one after the other or take a break @elliot ?
I just finished reading the trilogy because of your recommendation and I am RUINED, it's so good
I’m at the point where I add your recs to my TBR before I even watch the video. 😂
Awww, that’s awesome! I hope you like this one :D
I just downloaded this on Kindle but live in the UK, I am guessing internationally it has not been deemed worth publishing digitally?
Yeah, I guess not. Idk why though :/
Interesting thanks for review
It seems to that Nine or Ninth is the most common number used in a title of a fantasy novel or series. 🤓
Lucky Nine. 😅
Alright, I'm sold
Girl I already bought this book based off your last vlog! ;P
Hurray! I hope you like it :D
I was liking this review, I love an older female lead, but then you said found family and I added it directly to my cart.
Also if anyone has recommendations of fantasy where the lead is an old lady I want it please!
I've been dying to read it for quite a while now.
The thumbnail is hilarious.
Need to put this on my tbr feels like 🤔 and btw are you interested in reading an adult renaissance fantasy/gothic novel that I released earlier this month? Thanks in advance!
I don’t accept books for reviews, but thank you :)
Seems cool!
The magical tree god is dead, but I’ll see what I can do.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Black, lesbian, middle aged, indina jones? I'm IN
Yeah, that’s the character who wants to research these sites! She’s awesome, and has all her wealth from selling wine. What a gal 😆
Umm.. Another slow burner recommendation 👍 Goes to my never ending tbr :-)
Right. It's just ridiculous at this point. Is there rehab for book collecting?
Looks awesome. I like fat books and i do not lie.
It’s not available on Kindle?!
I don’t think so, which is definitely a bummer :/
It’s the Indiana Jones as a lesbian black woman for me.
Boop
My cousin made this book he will slap u lol
Can a 14 year old read this? 😅
