Always awesome to see another 13 fan! I've been on the fence on theZ Slide, I have a Concept C, and A2, love them both, both put in work....but, $275 is a good chunk... you had to go and twist my arm on that...Great Video, keep them coming and I'll definitely keep watching!!
I just bought two of these on impulse for black friday at 65 a piece! Was skeptical spending 280 at my local store without knowing what they are like. Been on the metaniums, chronarchs and curados. Couldnt pass the deal, hopefully its a fun reel!
Think I can only swing one more reel this year, Saving up for the new Daiwa Zillion. So for an extra months saving I’ll want to try out the Zillion. Went really crazy with a new spinning outfit. Thanks for another great and honest review!
It’s a good looking reel. Plus having my favorite color orange on it that helps. Seems like the slide location could be a problem with line possibly get stuck around it just from viewing pics. But maybe not.
I haven't had any issues with it and I actually love the placement...guess I should of mentioned that in the video, lol Appreciate you watching brother! 👊
I like the concept z2 but my only gripe is the looseness when reeling compared to the tight feel of a shimano or daiwa. Otherwise I love the way it casts and handles.
I'd rather the regular z over this. It's a solid reel and it's come down in price. I rarely buy the latest greatest because it's always a gamble. I typically will buy not the best but a generation before because that's enough time for people to accurately get acquainted with the reel and find out the pros and cons. This strategy has not only gave me a cold arsenal of gear, but a PROVEN arsenal. I'm still mad I didn't buy more daiwa CT Rs. Those are hands down one of my favorite reels to date. Super good solid reel.
My zillion is the easiest casti g reel I own. It and my komodo ss 200. And I own a few Lew's and Shimano and okuma. Wanting to run the 13 fishing. All these fight end reels are fire. And my tranx 200 is way up there in the effortless casting and it and the okuma are 200 series
That’s Aldebaran and Metanium Bread though. I’ve heard good things about 13 Fishing but 250 bucks will get you a lot of Reel like a Shimano DC or Steez that are the best of the best and a Child can cast lol.. great video my friend Stay Safe
That reel looks good, but I haven't had a great experience with 13 reels. I got the Origin FB. It was one of the smoothest reels I owned, but after 1 year of light topwater use (no hard hooksets, no braid) the antireverse randomly slips. I might've gotten a lemon, but for the price of their reels I'll just stick with Lews.
I've had an antireverse slip before, but it was during colder weather which is common. When I clean my reels I usually degrease the antireverse and add a small amount of oil.
I'm starting to believe that magnetic braking is superior. You don't have to open the side cover, there's no wear and tear, you can make finer adjustments, and it's just smoother. I heard somebody who works with Shimano say that if they had access to the magforce system, Shimano probably wouldn't even use centrifugal brakes.
Magnetics Are the best. And diawas magforce z tops the ranks period. There's other great options out there but magforce z is the best I've used bar none.
I’ve seen one of these in my local shop. I’m seriously considering buying it. Might have to use your discounts that you mentioned. It’ll be my first reel to have ever since I had a zebco push button as a kid ha! I want to get something as an “all around” reel just to have for when the opportunity to go fishing arises. Also kind of want this one because that gray paint color matches my truck perfectly haha! Which rod and line would you recommend for an all around setup? Great review, you’ve earned a subscription from me. Much love from Texas!
Hey Lucas, appreciate the comment and subscription buddy! Definitely a solid deal over at Karl's and with my code TJ10 you'll save an extra 10 bucks! A medium heavy fast action is one of the most versatile rods you can get. If you're not tossing top water with this combo I'd go with fluorocarbon which is a sinking line, but if you plan to toss top water like poppers and walkers with this reel I'd go with mono as it's a floating line and is also more user friendly. 👊💪
@@TackleJunky81hey got another question, which ratio would you recommend? I was thinking about getting the 7:5:1 just because it’s in the middle ground.
Hello I'm having a hard time deciding on what real I would purchase. Both are great reels, but the Curado DC will give you more control...I have a skipping video with that reel. Only down side is it's not the most comfortable reel in hand.

The biggest distinction that I can make between the Daiwa reels pretty much all other brands is that they fell controlled during the cast at all times. The Tatula Elite will cast a long way but it never feels out of control. My experience with 13 Fishing reels (Concept KP, 2x Concept A and 2x Concept Z) is that they have always been right on the ragged edge of blowing up. In the case of my Concept As they would cross that line randomly and without warning. When the brakes worked correctly, no reel I owned could even approach them on distance; but it seemed to be a game of Russian Roulette on every cast whether I was going to be reeling the bait back from a really long, effective cast or spending the next minute or more pulling out a massive overrun. The Z has been way more consistent which is why my main cranking rod still has one on it, but it is still prone to the brakes sticking from time to time and doing nothing to control the spool as a result. To me, the fact that they felt the need to add a secondary brake is an admission that their centrifugal brake design is fatally flawed (which it is).
Shimano and Daiwa manage to get completely controlled casting with only either a centrifugal or magnetic brake, respectively. The likely reason that the reel scratches so easily and the original Concept Z has been more durable is that the new reel has a plastic frame instead of the powdercoated aluminum of the original.
@@helotaxi I can't say I've had any issues with my Shimano reels only having the centrifugal...they have it dialed in for sure! Appreciate the insight brother! 👊💪
I live in Brazil, we destroy our fishing river stock because Hydreletrics and predator fisging kill everything. I like Tambacu and Tambaqui and Pirarara. We catch 66lbs or over and we have to pitch long yards with a 7.8 feet fishing rod and we can't use multifilament line because wen you catch one fish the multifilament line cut anothers.
