    Very good video, beautiful gear. You guys make a nice Team. Anthony is very direct, concise and knowledgeable while with Benjie Kim provides good enthusiasm and excitement. Love the Seeker Ulua, like to see that in a 20 lbs composite. Having the right rod and reel for the particular fish size and style of fishing is important. Mostly, I would think 2-rod and reels would be sufficient. Medium for casting and live bait. Medium Heavy if bigger fish show up. 3rd setup for deep jigging. Possibly a 4th setup just in case you get into cow tuna.

    I’m looking for an all around jig stick that I could through poppers on. The rod I’m looking at is a Shimano teremar tmc90xhb2. It’s mono rating is 30 to 50 but dosent say it’s power pro rating. I’ve felt it in shops and feels like a 30 to 70 but still loads up well and cast lures 2-5 ounces. Do you think this would suit my needs? Also what reel would you recommend other than a Tranx 500 because they don’t make a lefty so I’m kinda stuck on what reel to get.

I recently tried a right handed conventional reel and it felt super awkward. Could not cast well at all. Should I get a left handed bait caster? The advice have been mixed. Some ppl say not needing to switch hands when using the left bait caster is better. However, others say you need to use your right arm for cranking power. Help! I am leaning towards a lexa 400 HD. They are not cheap. I don’t want to get the wrong one. Thanks!

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  2 года назад +1

      @@johnchoi5981 hey John, imo you should get what you’re comfortable with and what works for you. I will say that I’ve never seen a right handed person using a conventional with a handle on the left side.
      As far as baitcasters go, it really is dealers choice as far as I know. Personally, all my low profiles are left handed because that’s what was taught to me when I was getting more serious, and now it’s just something I’m used to. But I do see the benefit of not having to switch hands after the cast.
      My recommendation would be to go to a shop and ask to hold the lexa 400 and see what you feel most comfortable with and go with that.
      Hope that helps 🤙

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  2 года назад +1

      Hi Angel, good questions - yes, when referring to a certain pound setup, it is referring to the leader. So the same reel can have a different leader depending on the trip but its best to match whichever leader you're using to a rod that can accommodate.
      And absolutely you can go with braid as main line in the 40 to 60 lb range. That's actually what I have on my conventionals, but mono can also be a great option.

    What Reel To Get
    It’s my dads birthday and one of his buddies got him a Phenix Black Diamond PSW-S 700H. It’s rated 20-60 lbs and I want to buy him a reel to go with it. I have a budget of around $250, and I want to get a reel we can fish for dorado, yellow tail, and more big fish.

    • @BenjieKimFishing
      @BenjieKimFishing  9 месяцев назад

      At that budget I'd look at the Penn Fathom NLD2 25 or 30.
      I'm running the Penn Fathom 25 NLD2 with my Phenix Black Diamond 809XHJ 20 to 60 and it's basically my all around work horse setup for fly lining. I've caught small bluefin and yellowfin up to 40 pounds and have had no issues.
      The Fathom is an incredible bang for buck option. It's priced a bit higher than your budget, but I think would be worth it.
      Just my opinion though, go with what makes the most sense for you!
