Tooth decay, or dental caries, start as plaque which is the sticky film that builds up on your teeth. The bacteria found in plaque produces acid that destroys the surface of your teeth. The acid can eventually cause your tooth to decay, which can also lead to it creating a hole in your enamel and this is how you get a cavity.
Some common signs of cavities:
Bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth.
Bleeding gums or Facial swelling.
Redness around or inside the mouth.
Continuous toothache or mouth pain
Tooth sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet and sour food or drinks.
Some common reasons of cavity:
Unhealthy Food items.
A poor oral hygiene routine, such as failing to brush or floss daily.
Not getting enough fluoride.
A persistently dry mouth.
Ways to reduce the risk:
Brush your teeth at least twice per day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Floss once a day to remove food particles and plaque.
Clean your tongue everyday with a tongue scraper or tongue cleaner.
Do not eat sugary and acidic food items.
Milk is very good for your dental health.
