I was in the UK recently and got into a conversation about farmers and the IHT. The young university student said "you never see a poor farmer." He obviously read it in a book or heard it on the bbc because I'm sure he's never been outside Southampton let alone seen a farm. I told him maybe it's because they work 24/7 for what they have. I waited to see what the BBC news would make of the tractors blocking Whitehall when I switched it on at 10pm last night - nothing! The government mouthpiece wouldn't even mention it, but they bang on at length about a load of other crap which is quite insignificant. They are disgusting.

What will a farmers strike look like? They have to feed the animals strike or not. There's hardly a ton of field work this time of year and anyway they'll bankrupt their own businesses if they don't plant/harvest. I'm in full support of the farmers, I've ben getting stuff from a nearby farm shop despite the outrageous prices and I always buy British and look for Red Tractor but I'm truly confused how they can effectively strike.

She used to live and work in Dundee back in the 70s and early 80s. I didn't know her but I knew people who did and they weren't fans.
