My father was an MP during the time they filmed this movie in Germany. Every time I watch it I think of my dad.
In Germany they just got on with rebuilding. In the UK they stood and looked at the ruins until the 70s.
Irish here. I remember my father taking me to London in 1974. The amount of war damage was amazing. Britain was bust. No money to rebuild
Aa lot of money went in to help rebuild Germany. The UK was bust, largely through the cost of the war, and having to pay off the Lend Lease liabilities which the US demanded in full.

In Poland, it was until 80th and the life was awful during this time with Soviet total supervision

The Berlin Airlift was in the summer of 1948, not during WW2.
