The painting looks good one thing I have learned by watching theses videos is Alex shows us that nothing is impossible . This is why I love this channel he is so genuine about everything he does even when he makes mistakes shows us that it is human to make mistakes and learn to bounce back and become good at everything you try.
Alex always amazes by his readiness to take on all sorts of different projects with such enthusiasm - a great example to the young. And he could not have had a better tutor in this endeavour.
I was a professional potter for over 45 years, now I’m retired and last year I started painting, I love it! It is never to late to learn something new!
He does it again. Me. No interest in painting. Watches this video.... Going to the Hobby Shop on Saturday. You know Alex, when you see those people that post a comment on a video along the lines of "As soon as I see the video link I clicked" well thats what you do for me bud. Keep it up as this was another banger!
Alex is simply the best example of a beautiful human being. He is so transparent and loving in all that he does, and the outcome of his experiences for me, is less important than his willingness to undertake a challenge, with humility and an open mind and heart, and take us along for the journey. Love this guy! ❤❤❤
Nial, I have genuinely learnt more from you about art in this video, than on an entire year long art course at a London college for adults. And Alex, you are a gem, and one of too few good people on this planet. Thank you for sharing your interests in such a beautiful, fun, educational and positive way. Your painting is beautiful, hope you will continue painting :)
Look at you, Alex the Artist!! WELL DONE YOU!!! These videos are getting more and more interesting with whatever new venture you are getting into. You are in search of and seeking your "TRUE NORTH"! [phil.] Clearly Nial is a very accomplished Artist and has a lifetime of experience. Practice is the best teacher. Nials work is really good. He has such a 'whispy' [wispy with a whip] influence in his works. Like his father I have a fondness for the old masters. I studied them my entire life as well. I've been painting since I was a small child, in all mediums. AND every time I start a new art project, I still get that excitement rush, as I did with the first one. When I paint, I love doing ducks, swans, birds/fowl, ponds, waters, and most any kind of landscape. I will venture into many other types of arts as well. It expands us as individuals. The more we try, the more influenced we are with life's gifts given us. We really are a spoiled lot! There is this very famous quote: "Art is never finished, only abandoned. Artists are never really done with a project - there's always more that can be improved." - Leonardo da Vinci
Im working my way through your videos Alex and firstly I wanted to say Im really enjoying them. I am so impressed by your painting. When i was a lot younger I could draw Disney characters from a comic but that never seemed to help me when I did art at school. So I have always told myself I cant draw and therefore, cant paint, but having watched you and Nial I feel I could at least give it a try - thank you
It always amazes me how you can present a new topic to me witch I never really had any contact with and instantaneously make me super interested in it. Can't wait for what's next!
This is actually amazingly informative. I honestly think yours came out great, and it just shows how important a calm, patient, and passionate teacher is. Nial just wanted yours to come out nicely, and it looks just as good as his which is credit to some natural ability and excellent mentoring
What a great person, sharing his knowledge in such a calming and wholesome way, a really cool guy, a perfect match for you...Nice painting too, you should be proud, thanks again for offering glimpses of a softer lifestyle 😁❤️👍🏽
Your artwork was so good Alex, I’d definitely be proud of myself if I painted that. Seems like you found yourself an excellent teacher, such a great way of explaining colour and the structure of a landscape painting. Another great video, thank you.
@@gracens5548 hi and thanks. I do some short courses here in Norfolk and have quite a few people who travel (some from overseas) to come and learn from me. Please contact me through the links Alex has kindly posted (my website or Instagram ideally) and let’s talk. N 🎨
Of course you did a brilliant job at painting - you took that breathtaking photo! You do have a eye for this stuff and you jumped right in even if you were nervous.....marvelous outlook Alex! Loved this!
Well done for giving it a go Alex you captured the mountains really well, and thanks to Nial for the excellent tuition, I feel inspired to try it again now.
Love Nial's story, and his sky paintings are amazing. Reminds me of Turner. He is a great teacher and I'm glad you showed interest in this and your co fidence will grow the more you try it (I prefer acrylic, just because I'm impatient to wait for oils to dry, but the processes are similar).
I actually like your painting more than Nials to be honest, Alex. I like your mist better because it looks more fluffy to me. I don't paint much, but I do art, and it's very interesting watching you learn about it and relating to your thoughts about art. Very cool video, 10/10 narration. Keep it up!
This man is a lovely teacher and you are a terrific student! I can draw but color and painting always intimidated me so I stopped. This is inspiring. Well done, you!🙌🏽
you did fine Alex. it looks beautiful and perhaps your next painting project can happen in the wilderness at a little creek or on a hill side with a sun rise or sun set in the background. I'd love to see you create a live painted painting in a calm open space where you can let your emotions flow on to the canvas.
Well done Alex, another video that could be boring but is so inspirational! It's about a year ago a AH commented you should get a real job, and do something that contributes to society. You were cruising to 50k subscribers and funding your way, in life I guess. You genuinly are creating content that is educational, inspirational and will allready have changed people's life's. Your audience will likely be 1M by the end of the year. Your energy, style, talent in editing and passionate approach as you explore the world is unique and a gift to us all. There is nothing on TV or RUclips quite as special and broad as what you are creating. The jump was brave, your content is awesome, you should be very proud. Your contribution to society is greater than most people's will ever be. Thank you and well done!!
I am CP4(close to fully) colourblind, hearing you speak about what colours you are seeing and how they interact with eachother is so alien to me and I find it impossible to comprehend what you are seeing. Brilliant video though Alex 🙏
Love the journey yourself and this channel are going on, Alex. Learning new skills is a huge part of what’s fun in life. Exactly what I needed to watch on my lunch 👌🏻
I'm an artist and my first watercolor teacher in college mentioned "The fear of the great white page". So he had us by some inexpensive paints, brushes and big sheets of paper. The assignment was to do something big, playing with the paint. I really liked him, a great teacher! Also, he bought my first painting! The challenge with watercolor is there is no white paint. If you want white in the painting, you have to avoid putting any color there. It's not easy! Your painting looks really good. You can be proud of yourself.
I must say Alex, your talents as an artist grow more with each video you release. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Outstanding achievements!! I've greatly enjoyed each of your videos, you're soon becoming a jack of all trades, and a close master of them as well. 😘👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
For such a young man (I'm 70 yrs of age) you are such an inspiration in your willingness to try different sports, crafts, etc and prove that anything can be achieved if you try - well done.
I love your attitude towards life, you bring such joy and make my day brighter. Your painting was amazing, you are an amazing student. When I looked at it on the screen it looked just as good as Nial's. Thank you for sharing your part of the world with us - From Southern California
I haven't touched paint since last year because I was afraid to mess it up. Seeing you paint such a beautiful piece as a beginner just gave me inspiration to continue my work It's important to remember that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process, and it's okay to mess up sometimes. Sometimes I forget that I shouldn't let fear hold me back from pursuing my passion for painting and art in general. thank you. I didn't think I needed to see this video but I really did.
Very informative video Alex, the result is quite nice. I think i said it before in the comments on a previous video, you inspire people to try things out and by doing so discover their talents.
Following your channel I find myself watching things I would never normally watch. If this was on TV I would change the channel and find something else. The music over this video was perfect 👌👌👌
I’ve always wanted to try it, I think with someone there explaining how to present your colors is very helpful. You did a great job! It was a very informative video and fun to watch and learn🎉🎉
Loved the vid the art was awesome i think i might start sketching again I use to really like art but when I moved schools I quit now as an adult I think i might try my passion again your vids are so inspirational because you are always challenging your self with something new so thankyou for inspiring me and keep it up. :)
That's A LOT of information for a begginer, oil paints aren't the easiest to use either. For someone starting off I'd recommend getting acrylic paints (they're cheap, dry fast and you can use water to dissolve it. Getting 5 paints is enough to make every color: black, white, magenta, pure yellow and cyan) and a sketchbook with thick paper. Making lots of smaller paintings is way better than one big study. I'd say, for a hobbyist painter, enjoying the process of learning/creating is a far more important than the finished result I hope you'd want to pick up a paint brush again someday and have more fun with it ❤
I think the best thing about oil painting is that you can always "scrape" off what you did or paint over what you did if you don't like it. If you did that good on your first day, imagine if you spent a hour a week just perfecting it.
Alex, that was absolutely fantastic!! Totally inspired to try painting again, already bought the paints and kit but they've been stuffed away in a cupboard as never got over the daunting feeling of 'where do I start?' You should be super proud of your painting, even more so as it's from your 'own eyes' on one of your epic adventures!! 😉
Nice work, Alex. If that's your first painting 🖼 from school, that looks amazing 👏 👌 and when you put it on the wall, it looks like you have been out and paid for it from the shop, and I bet it was relaxing to do you are jack of all trades now nice one Alex 👍 😁
Always bringing something new to the channel I think you have a good insight in what people like and I think it makes the channel so much more interesting than what is on utube at the moment great work and not a bad painting either keep up the great work 👍
Didn’t fancy watching this as painting doesn’t interest me but I’ve gotta say that’s one of the best videos I’ve seen Alex makes me want to try and have a go at oil painting nial is so chilled and relaxed and informative really interesting to find out how it all comes together on canvas thank you
The painting looks good one thing I have learned by watching theses videos is Alex shows us that nothing is impossible . Thank you and that’s great to read. Alex was a brilliant student and proved that, like most things, it’s about learning technique first.

It always amazes me how you can present a new topic to me witch I never really had any contact with and instantaneously make me super interested in it.

Really interesting Alex, I've never really thought about the breakdown or build up of an oil painting. Yet another feather in your cap.
