Glad to see a vidieo from you again. For some reason I keep getting unsubscribed from you channel along with some other popular farm channels. I try and do most of the mechanical work for our farm so watching channels such as yours is a chance to learn about something I haven't worked on myself.
Hell skid steer 101 should be required watching and listening to you make a saudie lake makes me feel better as I was the only one in the shop and had fifteen trucks to service meaning a oil change and some filters minimum and so when I was reading the trucker whaw sheets and trying to catch the most serious problems like three inches of weld holding cup and saucer on bunk that should of had about two and a half feet of weld and no wiper on drivers side (making parts up to give jist of that evening) and checking dip sticks before returning key to that truck, all seemed low but some oil on stick without the wipe and check again as in hurry so add two more gallons to each truck and slip on floor and do a summer salt in a oil lake as I hadn't put one oil pan plug back in being in a rush on the second five trucks (first five go without hitch) BUT... BUT butt head just wasted fifty gallons of oil and its my mess to clean like I don't have enough to do. Even better boss drops in... sees oil and turns around and leaves, hmm I am thinking as I am cleaning and next thing I see is the boss in a pair of my old coveralls and rags and stuff helping me clean up with a smile saying.... Oh I have done this too... ya find the plugs yet ha ha ha ha... he is human and no deduct from wage, just stayed with me and helped me get caught up. Ya you know its nice sometimes to have company when normally I do my best alone
Nice video, thank you. But I seem to be unsure of what the actual problem was? You had a bunch of fluid in the transmission presumably? Excellent fix up but maybe I missed what the actual issue was, thank you very much.
On the 1845B, the chain boxes are supposed to have 5 qrts of motor oil.. big box, lots of condensation!! I change it every or every other engine oil change.. always comes out cream😂🤣 I don't have those little windows though..
I’m trying! RUclips is a hobby for me and recently real life has been keeping me pretty busy so I haven’t been able to do much here. Hoping to change that soon.
Loved the Ottawa story as I worked for them for 26 years. Makes me wonder if it was the same truck that a worker left the hydraulic tank drain plug out of. We had many gallons of fluid on the assembly line floor and it was not water. Good stuff!
But what do you do when the factory torque spec on the lug nuts causes galling of the threads. Put the lugs on at 130 lb/ft as spec with a calibrated torque wrench and takes a 4 foot long 3/4 drive breaker bar to take them off because the 600 lb/ft impact won't touch them.
Cute little thing!! Brought home a Cat 236B, dead motor. It's the same size as my Case 1845B.. had some hard dragging to do! Put some old roofing tin under it, slid it off the trailer and into the extra bay below the shop.. been there about 8 years now.. but it's ready for a new engine 😎 got an old Hesston 8200 swather, ain't worth anything here anymore... So.. probably going to have a Fiat engine in place of a Cat branded Mitsubishi..😁😎 Condensation is the reason the chain boxes should be serviced yearly.... Good job!!!
Hiya. I swear, before you even pulled off the wheels. When you were removing it from the trailer and mentioned that the wheels were not turning and it was 20 degrees, I said "water in the drive case", yes I am that annoying guy who talks to the TV. I really was not thinking that much water, lol. So common to find oil/water emulsion slime in there.
I got a Fordson Major tractor here doesn't move from about the end of October when it freezes until the end of April when it thaws out. It's constantly getting condensation in the rear axle from weather changes here in Canada. it destroys new oil in 6 months so we just let it sit and drain the water off the bottom a few times a year, is it ideal no but it holds over 50 liters of oil so changing it's worth more than the tractor. Throwing the safety manual out the windows ok and being more worried about the wrong silicone, but wait until something happens to you or a friend, although we hope it never does . There was a pretty big mouthed youtuber always commenting on the safety police in video's. Yeah that ended well the day he flipped a skid steer over backwards on truck ramps doing something with it. He got lucky but He proved the point crap can happen to anybody, even with years of experience doing something and making a stupid mistake ! There are even things I've done years ago we talk about now, and think that could of ended so different if things went south in a hurry. Glad you figured the issues out , take care guys.
People who think anti seize is bad have never lived near the coast Im not even in the rust belt of American im just in Australia but living on the coast i antiseize everything wheel studs brale caliper bolts all ths bad things Still a good chance something will be seized
My dad pulled a similar trick on our old MF 300 combine about 30 years ago. It had a rubber hose that came out and dropped down behind a drive tire to drain the engine oil. We stuck a five gallon bucket down there and opened the drain. Went up top and swapped the filter and maybe a little something else. Dad opened the fill cap and poured in 6 quarts of Quaker State's finest and pulled the dipstick to check it. WTH??....AWWWWW🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Hello from Riverton wy. Fellow 1830 owner. Get rid of the Renault engine all together. It is very easy to retrofit a Kohler 980ch into this machine. Email me with any questions on this machine I am 90% into a full rebuild on it.
Well my public service toward curing the population problem has been done! I have been neverseizing my lug bolts for more than fifty years so I must have whittled down the overpopulation by a bit if your "eight lanes of traffic and many school children" is accurate. Funny how I have never missed those errant tires when it happened?? By the way, thanks a lot for disproving my theory of 'water as a lubricant'! Now I will have to start buying the expensive stuff (you think 20% might be ok?). I saw that headline picture and thought this would be about a skid steer having a baby. Boy what a disappointment. Take care. Doug
Ha i hope you guys build decent wireing harnesses and run then in a decent manner Funky electrical issues seem to be the common thing fron just shit routing amd cheap parts
That was a lot of water. I wonder how all of that water got in there on that skid steer. Since when was water considered to be an oil substitute?? LOL Pretty good fix in the end. Stay safe.
Each wheel well has a hole near the top that allows you to see the chain. There should be a gasket or cover pressure set into each one to keep things out. If you are torquing the tires (which always do on a skid steer) the tires will sometimes rub the sides. If the tires are wet and the gasket is missing it is going to go inside.
I know Jim. I tried using the shotgun mic instead of the lapel one so you could hear us both, but the echo was an unfortunate side affect. We’ll try something different next time!
Great vid, fixing a problem I had never thought would even exist before. Why do you think that much water got in there in the first place? Was there suppose to be a bath of oil in that area instead?
What is the recommendation on type of oil you use and then chain cases and how much each side I have the exact same machine that were just now starting to go through it
Hello Blake, I didn't see anything in the video on the electrical issue being fixed. What was that issue? Obviously drive chain frozen solid in ice is going to impede movement. LOL
It is if you are doing big round bailing. It usually has either 540/1000 PTO, and good weight/HP for handling big round balers. Hydraulics are important though, the higher pump amount is best when looking for compatibility. If though for those doing big squares, a much higher HP tractor is recommended.
You know you guys putting tin man Jizz on the studs is going to cause the wheels to fly off. Especially when the poor farmers mocking cow shit at 5 mile an hour and then The wheel fly off and take out some poor heifer
Classic scum bag employee trick; wants a Monday off work, fills the skid steer gearbox with water on a Friday, leaves out doors over the weekend in minus 20° bingo bango skid steer won't work on a Monday. "It was fine on Friday boss" Wasn't too taken with the internet bashing Blake, it got very boring, did a lot of skip forwarding. (Will RUclips change water to oil like it did the first time)
I can see where you’re coming from, but after spending way too many years on Internet forums and groups I can assure you there is often a large gap between how most of those folks perceive the way things should be done and the way things actually get done. Heck, I learned more in my first 6 months in a shop than I did a year of tech school. If we can’t laugh at ourselves...
@@GuyinWY That would involve a LOT of time operating it that way. Then again, many owners don't know what preventive maintenance is all about. I thought the water would never stop flowing.
I remember back in the 90s when those little case skiddys were all that everyone used. It’s crazy how far the industry has evolved.
Improper maintenance is responsible for a lot of problems. Glad you found it so quickly.
John in Pensacola
I particularly liked the raw nature of this one.
Mine has never had that problem, luckily. Still starts and goes as she should.
Glad to see a vidieo from you again. For some reason I keep getting unsubscribed from you channel along with some other popular farm channels. I try and do most of the mechanical work for our farm so watching channels such as yours is a chance to learn about something I haven't worked on myself.
I believe in schmoo. My dad taught me to use it to forego problems in future repairs.
Seen the same thing happen on an 1845C. The plastic chain case covers crack, and water gets in. Locks the chains right up.
@@tombroger5930 They're solid machines. Easy to work on. We have four of them at work.
Thanks, Blake.
Wow....nice to see this little tractor running once again!!! Beautiful!
Really enjoyed the shop time.

Look like a fun project huh thanks for sharing great video
We all know how tractors surprisingly have thirst problems. Been there, done that. Usually needs an upper reseal somewhere. Nice ranch you have there.
Great video and well done GENTS !!!
Thanks for sharing. It was fun. Hope you can find time to make some more. I really enjoy your channel.

Love the comedy routine! Got several chuckles. Keep up the comedy.
While ice isn't a common problem here in Florida I still learned something! Thanks for the video!

Really enjoyed the video! I can't believe how much water was in there lol

Good job great video. Lubricanting water great stufff half the price of regular oil.
I hope you all get it fixed soon, it’s a nice little machine.
Where have you been? Real fun video. Keep em coming.
Working like crazy, then my computer died and was in the shop for two weeks.
Cool video thanks for sharing
I liked the video, but where did all that water come from? How did it get in there, and how did you prevent it from happening in the future? Thanks.
was thinking the same thing ............
I had a case skid did the same thing, but never could find where the water kept getting in to it
Rain water and a bad up🤩😍😍per case gasket could cause water to get in

Oil instead of frozen water (Ice).
Simple enough fix Blake. Wonder how often water is the issue rather than a mechanical problem? -Bob...
I would love to see a skid steer do 90
question how/where did it get so much water. get in.. does the person know about preventative maintenance?

Yes, it’s supposed to run in 4 quarts of oil. Rain/ snow melt and poorly sealed covers are the initial suspects.

water is cheaper than oil
true but it gets fussy about the temp of the air ........too hot and it disappears too cold and it goes on strike ........
