@Hbmd3E My bad, I missed this being the top fantasy hockey forwards list. I get it that these lists are always offensive. If you watch the last 2 seasons, Barkov affects the game more defensively than any other skater. Gretzky in the finals said he's the best defensive forward since Trottier. That means better than Bergeron, Kopitar, and Datsyuk. I'll take the Great One's call. Look, I'm not saying he's first or second just saying he's better than Sid and Drai. If you want to have an argument about Matthews in 3rd and Barkov in 4th, I think the case can be made. At the end of the day, Sid isn't who he used to be and his career to this point has been better than Barkov. But the pens have choked away playoff positions the last 2 seasons in the last week, and Barkov has carried the Panthers to the cup finals both years. Yes I get it he doesn't have the best fantasy numbers but he shuts down opposing lines and still manages to put up ppg numbers. The Drai case is simple. Over half of his points are a direct result of McDavid. Furthermore in the finals, Drai came up empty and was frustrated enough to throw a cheap elbow that was borderline suspendable. Nobody who wanted to keep playing in that series would have thrown that elbow unless they thought their team was better if both of them were off the ice. Barkov took the elbow and the cup home with him.

Long time subscriber and huge fan. I'm part of a group of hockey fans from all over the world and from all different fan bases. We call ourselves "The Gang," and we've been a group for about 14 years. Many of us have met and seen games together all across Canada and the US. I've turned every one of them into your content over the years. I've never asked you a question before, but I'm curious, what do you think of Dylan Larkin overall? Is he a legit 1C or is that role a bit of a stretch? Where are you on his game overall?
I am thinking this means more who is the better player, then who should have been drafted first. Mackinnon seems like the better skilled player. Both have cups now so you can't really use that argument either way. Barkov would need to keep up his defense and start hitting 100 points for the next 3 or 4 years and have another cup to add to that to say he was a better overall player.
Yeah, that was what I was getting at (who finishes as the "better" player). I find it interesting to look at re-drafts once the players of a class all retire. With MacKinnon and Barkov having 2 vastly different playstyles, it'll be entertaining to see how they finish their careers.
Barkov will always be undervalued because Defense in hockey is team oriented. I mean I'm not sure either team gets a cup of the pics are reversed, but Mackinnon's speed I think gives him the edge.
In light of Mathews getting the C in Toronto, I'd like to see you do a list lf best Captains in the NHL. Captains as leaders vs Pure Player ranking? Some discussion about what is a captain's formal and informal responsibilities, and what makes a good captain could be a great discussion.
I like your rankings. There is not doubt no body is as game breaking as Mcdavid as he is the best point producer in hockey. But what Mackinnon brings to the table in terms of intensity, speed, tenacity, physically and with his capabilities to bring a "i will do what it takes to not lose attitude" and not needing to rely on point production to make others around him better allows him to be one of the most all around players in hockey. But man oh man, the dawg is someone you want in your corner when the chips are down.
This had to be the most difficult position list. Goalies stop pucks, defenders defend and chip in offensively if they're great. Forwards are all over the place in terms of value.
Not bad list, but few changes I’d make. Crosby too high. He’s the best player of his generation, overall, but not necessarily last 5 years. Still have him top 12, but lower. Also, not sure about Kaprizov. I’d take Rantanen and/or Petterson over him every day of the week and twice on sunday. Also Eichel, big fan of him, but idk if I’d put him on the list. Ah maybe I would. The sample size is a bit lacking. “The best ability is availability”
Shannon avoiding the homer look by steering clear of J.T. Miller, but him & Rantanen need more love. Eichel & Kaprizov stick out as guys who shouldn't be here. If you're a top 12 forward you should at times be able to carry your team on your back. It's not just about points even though both the guys I've mentioned put up insane numbers that way too.
I think that lists like this can be bit controversial since even the forward players have so different roles. I think Barkov could produce more points in a cost of defensive play. Its hard to say which is most important. +/- or just solid amount of points.
If its career top forwards this is fine, but if it's according to last season, I would just put Barkov to nr.1. He did win the cup and had absolutely ridiculous playoffs.
Imagine If Kaprizov had decent line mates. He would have 130+ points every year. Unreal player and probably the 2nd best natural goal scorer in the league right now

As someone who picked Aho in the playoff pool this past year... hmmm... not sure I agree with your police work there...
Thought I'd see Forsberg on here! Regardless, great video Shannon.
I enjoy hearing your opinion, especially as a new-ish fan.
McDavid plays the game on a different difficulty setting than everybody else, I'm just happy to be watching the sport during his era.
would love to see a follow up of who you think would be a good fit for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th line if all of these guys were on the same team
That a fun list to watch. Thanks for putting the time in!!! If I were to pick this list apart there's probably not much I would change. Pretty cool Crosby is still making the list. The only thing I would change is Petterson would be #1 lol jk I guess that's the only thing the Canucks missed out on they made the list for goalie and Dmen .... can't win em all I guess. Keep a thick skin with the stupid comments people write I think you're doing a good job!!!
Love your content bro get to enjoy my cereal 😅
You should draw a level bold line under 12 and start there to help make the words straight. I was tripping on the angle the whole time...great video.
I would take Mikko Rantanen over everyone 9-12 (except maybe Kaprizov)
What ? No habs player ? we revolt.
Sike, we love you THG, Keep on the insane work.
"Psych" - maybe THG's next video will be the Top 112 forwards and you can get one or two?
Fun fact: Draisatl has more points on this list.
MacKinnon has a higher points percentage.
Kinda of a fun thing to consider.
As a pilot you’ve tempted me to fly circles around Chilliwack to try to appear in a THG video 😅 9:10
Kaprisov on another level than Gaborik? Am I sleeping on him? Gaborik was a sexy player.
Funny You say that, couple friends and i were saying how alike those two are all around. Pretty wild who similar they are
Another level is a stretch
Crazy Jason Robertson, Point, Rantanen or Forsberg doesnt make this list. Lots of great players rn
For nerds, the 1-9 are yet again, Preds themed
Long time subscriber and huge fan. I'm part of a group of hockey fans from all over the world and from all different fan bases. We call ourselves "The Gang," and we've been a group for about 14 years. Many of us have met and seen games together all across Canada and the US. I've turned every one of them into your content over the years. I've never asked you a question before, but I'm curious, what do you think of Dylan Larkin overall? Is he a legit 1C or is that role a bit of a stretch? Where are you on his game overall?
2013 Draft was MacKinnon #1 and Barkov #2. It'll be interesting to debate who was the better pick one day.
theres no debate, both went were they should have gone.
And Seth Jones was considered #1 for much of that season lead-up.
Matthews and Barkov should be above Draisaitl imo. Both are way better at defense, well disciplined, and less lazy
You are mistaken. Drai is way better.
@@dorikindotjp Matthews is useless in the playoffs tho draisaitl is top 3 playoff performer of this decade
Matthews doesn’t hit or play defense. Or pass
@@nunya_business1702lol nice job proving you don’t actually watch him play
@@nunya_business1702Matthews was nominated for the Selke.
Thank you for your service
Gotta love the Bettman portrait
Dude. That jersey is awesome.
As many assists as his peers have points is a stat I only hear about Gretzky crazy that mcdavid is doing that
Love the jersey shan
In light of Mathews getting the C in Toronto, I'd like to see you do a list lf best Captains in the NHL. Captains as leaders vs Pure Player ranking? Some discussion about what is a captain's formal and informal responsibilities, and what makes a good captain could be a great discussion.
Video idea: guys that should be in the hall of fame but aren’t currently.
Solid list
whoever says pastrnak isnt top12 has gotta reevalute themselves, he's arguably top 1/2 RW in the league
Love the jersey!!!!!
Skeletor might be better?
How Crosby has never been nominated as a finalist for the selke is mind blowing to me, imo hes the best all around player ever
That man at arms jersey is lit
Eichel is a slight surprise.
I will be curious to see 13-24 best forwards, now !
#12 Sonny Milano
#11 Sonny Milano
#10 Sonny Milano
#9 Connor Milano
#8 Sidney Milano
#7 Nathan Milano
#6 Auston Milano
The rest don't matter
Love barkov on the thumbnail
Great list
Shannon avoiding the homer look by steering clear of J.T. Miller, but him & Rantanen need more love. Eichel & Kaprizov stick out as guys who shouldn't be here. If you're a top 12 forward you should at times be able to carry your team on your back. It's not just about points even though both the guys I've mentioned put up insane numbers that way too.
You underrated Barkov.
Ooooooo a little bonus!!!! Love it lol
Could you do a fantasy forward "sleeper" list? My league is deep and often I scramble to get a sleeper or two.
it would be kinda neat if you did this for pools.
like once a week.
that way i dont have to dig around in your old content :P
I think that lists like this can be bit controversial since even the forward players have so different roles. I think Barkov could produce more points in a cost of defensive play. Its hard to say which is most important. +/- or just solid amount of points.
Thanks Gary
Thank you for this! PS: Any plans on words about Sam Rosen retiring after next season?
If its career top forwards this is fine, but if it's according to last season, I would just put Barkov to nr.1. He did win the cup and had absolutely ridiculous playoffs.
Luv the Jersey
Imagine If Kaprizov had decent line mates. He would have 130+ points every year. Unreal player and probably the 2nd best natural goal scorer in the league right now
Imagine if Kaprizov played with an actual first line center
Pretty bang on
