MARALUWAWA CAVE TEMPLE, KURUNEGALA SRI LANKA.
ACCESS ROAD
Take Kurunegala - Dambulla road to Mutthettugala junction
(wellawa junction) Then turn left and go along to wellawa
,Hiripitiya road near about 2KM. After you can see the
entrance road to the temple. Turn left and go up to about
1km to Maraluwawa temple.
This temple is situated very close to Kurunegala city
north western province in Sri lanka. Temple's history
goes back to the 2nd centuary B.C.The temple area is
surrounded by stones and drip ledges caves.Also you
can see rock inscriptions which tell about ancient stories.
Maraluwawa is a cave temple. The temple area is surrounded
by stones and drip ledge caves.There are two image houses in the temple.Paintings and statues in the old image house belongs to
kandyan era.

Language: Old sinhala
Stupa is located on the top of the rock with magnificent
view of surrounding mountains, lands and lakes.This is a very sacred, awesome and picturesque place
to visit.
