    Tune in over the next three weeks and Scotty will show you how to make your very own surface Lure or Stick Bait.
    How to make a Surface Lure Part one, I remember back at the age of 15 making my first home made lure from small cedar block, I shaped it with a pen knife and sand paper, the shape was a bit strange but it worked well and a few weeks later I caught a Bass in the local creek on it, talk about a fishing buzz.
    How to make a Surface Lure Part one will have you making your own lures, this is a very easy and straight forward video one of three you will need to watch to complete you first home made lure or Stick bait.
    Hope you enjoy this video and learn a few tips & tricks along the way. Please share it with your friend and subscribe to The Hook and The Cook You tube channel for the latest videos on Fishing & Cooking. Thanks Regards Scotty & Paul.

    Finally a video that doesn’t have thousands of $ worth of tools to make a $10 lure

  • @tomjeffersonwasright2288
    @tomjeffersonwasright2288 6 лет назад +2

    Great video. I like using common tools and materials, not buying $25 of pre-made parts to assemble a $10 lure.
    Your way is long on skill and short on price. I like it ! ! !

    For top water lures, what woods do you use?

  • @preferredstock9338
    @preferredstock9338 7 лет назад

    I loved the 3 videos. What diameter dowel are you using? I understand it all depends on the size of the lure I want to make but I want to make a few ranging from 150mm - 250mm so I want the same size as what you've used. Thanks for info and keep up the great work. I've subbed.

    • @TheHookandTheCook

    Thanks for all the information, my cuestión is what kind of wire do you used, I wanna buy it.

    • @TheHookandTheCook
      @TheHookandTheCook  7 лет назад +1

      Best to use Stainless wire to prevent rust, .5 to 1mm its all about the size of lure you are making ad the fish you are targeting, Bream, Bass and Flathead say .5mm then for Kings, Gts and Barra maybe 1mm or 1.2mm hope this helps.

    Would the wire eyelets hold up to fish in excess of 100lbs?

    • @TheHookandTheCook
      @TheHookandTheCook  6 лет назад +2

      I caught quite a few Kings to 15kg and it stayed together, only cost me $3.00 to make, day three seen some ware & Tare.
      I would say smaller fish from 1kg to 10kg then you might be better running the wire right through the lure, good luck.

    How big is the gage is the wire that you're using?

    • @TheHookandTheCook
      @TheHookandTheCook  8 лет назад +1

      +Eddie P Eddie up to you mate I used 1mm stainless but may have been better with 2mm, it depends on how big the lures are and what fish you are targeting, Thanks. Regards Scotty & Paul

      I use N° 14 and N° 16 galvanized wire, and go well.

  • @Mercenary_32

    What is the gauge of the wire? Thanks 👍☺

    • @TheHookandTheCook
      @TheHookandTheCook  6 лет назад

      The wire is .5 to 1mm but its all about how big the lure is I guess, smaller fish lighter wire and larger fish lure needs more strength, good luck.
