How To Fix Can't Load Android System Recovery Screen Seicane or Other Car Stereo Head Unit

- So... yeah. This is a video I didn't think I was going to make. I honestly didn't think my first attempt to fix this was going to work. But, it did. So now I am catching you up.
Here's the screen that came up:
Can't Load Android System. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.
Seems easy enough to hit that "try again" option...but there are no physical buttons on this device. Only soft buttons and a single reset button. Here's how I solved it.

Now for everyone, wich cant use they Keyboard over USB.
If you Connect your Keyboard to the USB.
Press ALT+Print hold the 2 Buttons and Press I or E . After this you cant use your Keyboard and choose your Option in want

I was so desperate, my 2 usb keyboards and 2 wireless keyboards didn't work. Then i followed your instructions, and bam it worked. Thank you so much
Pro tip - if your touchscreen only has the usb-c inputs, try and locate the usc-a > usb-c adapter that came with the unit or run to the store a pick one up. Once you have the adapter, plug everything into the the top usb-c port next the SIM card slot and headphone jack. Your keyboard will now work and you can successfully click the “Try Again” option. Your device will reboot and work like it’s brand new
What a legend, I was thinking my unit was toast and was going to buy a new one. This worked great and I can't believe it was so simple, thank you for posting this up.
thanks for the video solved my issue as well but just a NOTE; for people who doesn't have reset on the device like the mercedes GLK devices a reset can be done by removing the cables to battery for 5 seconds and put it back

Thank you soooo much for making this video. Google several other youtube videos but their system is slightly different than ours. I had the same situation where the touch screen didn’t respond to my fingers. I also try plugging in a usb keyboard and still didn’t work. I was about to give up and saw your video and saw that you were able to make it work with a usb keyboard. So this time I actually had the usb keyboard plugged in before turning on the system. IT WORKED!!!! So it made a difference for me when the keyboard was plugged in. If i plugged in while the system was on it didn’t see the keyboard. Weird…such a niche product so I really appreciate you taking the time to make the video.
I was not able to enter the recovery mode…your trick to use the keyboard actually worked for me I was not able to touch anything on screen and then i used the keyboard and able to reset the device thanks a lot man….🙏🏻👍

I have a 10inch UGAR unit. Was playing with developer options and had the secondary screen screens all outta wack. Couldn’t figure out how to get it to go away. And I find your video. Grab my dongle and keyboard from desktop.. BACK IN BIZ! 🤜🏻🤛🏻 you’re the man
This worked for me. I just pressed the reset button with the keyboard plugged in, then just bashed ENTER 5 or 6 times. The screen then glitched, so I stopped, and the unit opened up as normal. Nothing was lost, and now works fine. Thanks
Thanks for the video, came across it looking up that's on my px5 because it was 'stuck' on this screen as well and thought I had to replace it. Saved me 600+ bucks.
Thank you for your video and explanation. I did try the USB wired keyboard method but the unit would not recognize it, therefore I couldn't restart the *try again*
After emailing seller, he advised to simply slide one finger up or down in the screen ( as your video shows) if you need to change function of reboot . Then slide finger left or right to simulate the ENTER . I just swiped finger left to right as system was on *try again* prompt and it worked. Hope I've helped someone who has similar issues.
Thank you! For me, the keyboard didnt work at first, I kept it plugged in and clicked the RST button, after it restarted I was able to click Try again with my keyboard and it started working again.
Plugged in the keyboard, wouldn't respond. Pushed the reset on the front of the radio, nothing. Pulled the radio fuse, waited 30s. Turned the radio on, keyboard worked, problem solved. Thanks for sharing the information.
My system didn't load further than logo and i also got stuck at recovery screen, not being able to move or select anything, but thanks to your video i remembered i had seen an usb coming out somewhere and plugged my wireless usb in and could get it to work again !

For others, in future, you don't need a keyboard. Tapping the screen will toggle through menu, and long tapping the screen will choose what is currently highlighted.
Thanks for the info, just incase anyone was wondering, I hit many combinations of screen corners and it rebooted not sure which one worked. I think it might be top left bottom left bottom right top right.
Thank you man. You saved my life. I've been trying to do something similar to my head unit. The only difference is that my screen turned completely black. When I plugged the keyboard I was able to use more functions like trigger google assistant. It took me to settings and I did a backup and reset

Can you force recovery mode using a keyboard? My rst button doesn't seem to let me access recovery mode

The keyboard didn’t work for me but balboa1203’s comment did. Joying Snapdragon unit. The trick was extremely long full screen swipes up and down to move the selection and a long full screen swipe to the right to indicate enter. 3/4 length swipes weren’t enough. I selected “try again” and it started right up.
Hey I have a problem with mine, it's in a continuous loop on the boot up screen. Even to using the pin to restart doesn't work need help

Hold the reset button that you need like a paperclip on the front and hold the home key at the same time

Nice video. Came across it while looking for a solution to a different problem, but on my head unit, clicking the reset button factually allows me to scroll through the options and holding it allows me to select an option. Not the same unit but a similar one.

I got this screen on my mobile device (UleFone Armor 9) and I thought everything was gone from my device. I just ended up turning the device off and on again and it started up the way it normally does. No idea why it happened, but it's fixed now. First it was Windows with the "blue screen of death" and now we have the Android "black screen of death" haha

I just got this issue!! Great idea! I will try to fix mine! Just another issue I have, and wanna know it you felt the same.. I experienced a lot of radiofrequency interference on my VHF radio and I realize that the main cause is the head unit, so I used some ferrite and installed a on/off button on acc for communication on week signals on VHF. Regards.
But how get the factory reset screen. I am trying to get that factory reset screen.

This is for real the best headache preventer.... until you try to press the reset button with an harbor freight pick. It cracked my screen😢😢😢😢, get a paper clip, or something small and dont be in my shoes. (Btw for me 1 reset click move the selection up and down and a long press acted as Enter, also i can connect a mouse to the port and the scroll button on the mouse moves the selection up n down, honda civic)

Press and hold ALT & PRINT SCREEN keys and press either E or I. This tricks works on me

On my stereo there is a car setting thing where in the settings you had to relearn the keys and there is a spot also to illuminate the keys but you still have to calibrate the keys or called

Ao contrário do tio ai eu usei um controle de videogame usb generico e funcionou da mesma forma. Mas tem um detalhe q acho q nao foi mencionado: vc pressiona uma tecla e muda de seleção, mantém pressionado e a opção colorida muda de cor e é selecionado ao soltar o botão.

when i hit reset button the recovery mode screen won't show up and when I did factory reset it's just rebooting the system

where did you plug the keyboard in? I don't have a usb port in my glove box. I have 2 USB ports on the DIN2 radio itself, but only the wireless mouse reacts to the radio. I can then switch back and forth between try again and recovery, but I can't select it. I despair. Unfortunately, I only have this wireless mouse and keyboard with the USB connector. both should respond to the USB plug. but only the mouse does it... if I click with the mouse, nothing happens

Obviously it would not have helped you in this situation, but it makes me wonder if a Bluetooth keyboard can be paired up. I have the 2nd gen seicane too (thanks to your video series on it) the only thing I did different was I added a 8 channel RCA switch to run my back up cams. your ordeal here hasn't happened to me yet... but it'll be nice to know I can recover if it does, thanks!
I am almost 99% positive you can use a bluetooth keyboard... unless of course... the OS didn't boot. :-)

I don't have any little hole for the rest. My 2017 Honda pilot head unit stopped working when I tried to Honda hack it!!! Any suggestions?
My screen works for back up camera and shows Honda link when I first turn it on but then goes black... Tried every button combination, nothing works. Disconnected battery to try and force reset, nothin! Please someone help!!!
What if you accidentally hit factory reset, and now mostly all apps are gone. I see apk installer and about 12other apps. But how do you install google chrome or any web browser so that I can download other apps?

I try to upgrade my unite to vivid 10 n this is what happend. when i reboot the radio by unpluggin the power from the back n plug it back again boot to img logo them stay there when i restart by holding it with a little paper clip sends me to the recovery mode but i only get black screen with the led on.

For days ive been Iooking on the internet for solutions to my philips android tv, i installed usb with wipedatatool, i tried to do update from usb with original firmware, i tried to reboot, i tried to find the wipe data in the bootloader but it isnt there (i even tried 1-2-x-4 method) i can only choose REBOOT NOW or UPDATE FROM EXTERNAL but when i choose one of those 2 options i get a black screen with android laid on its back and saying NO COMMAND. I cant acces the tv with ADB neither because the usb debugging wasnt enabled before i lost acces to the tv. Its a Philips 7600 series LED I dont know what to do anymore help!

Please help... My unit was working for months now all of a sudden the sound keeps switching on and off every 3 seconds, streaming from the phone or playing direct from unit its the same fault. Its gotta be something simple but I can find what it is 🙈🙈🙈🙏🙏

I have purchased a 2 din brand evus model.DD571A version 1 with android7.1.1 at a good price, but I think it must be broken,
after connecting everything works perfectly, but my surprise is when I connect the bluetooth,
the devices connect but without sound (good with sound but very weak), and I say devices because I have connected 4 or 5 (tablet, smartphones both android and apple)
and with everyone the same thing happens to me,
I have looked and tried all kinds of settings to no avail,
I have updated the DIN tb software I have updated the bluetooth with the files provided by evus technical service,
VERY KIND AND PROFESSIONALS, I have restored it from the factory, and it remains the same, the radio sound, USB music, movies etc ,,, are heard perfectly,
but everything that comes from the phone, either by bluetooth or by USB, is very loose, almost imperceptible, even putting the equipment and the smarphone at maximum volume,
as if it doesn't amplify that sound.
I no longer know if it is due to a fault, for lack of some type of file, and for any application that is interfering with me,
because the sound that comes in (by bt) I listen to it through an app, which has ipod installed, (by the BT's own application, although you can control all its functions: stop, pause, go back, go forward, etc, , the audio nothing at all),
thing I do not understand when the connected devices are all android.I have disassembled it to see if it had something burned, apparently I do not see anything strange, just a few clues a slightly raised track in the general feeding part,
but no, it influences a lot, since the bluetooth module is powered, because the devices connect, without problemLET'S SEE SOMEONE LIGHTING THE WAY A LITTLETHANKS

My unit remains stuck at the white “android” writing and does nothing... 😞 i am trying for months to get to your screen hoping that factory will get everything fixed but i did not managed to get to your screen. CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY ADVICE HOW TO GET TO YOUR SCREEN WITH THE FACTORY RESET?! I tried with keyboard but dunno if there are some buttons that can bring up your screen.. Thank you. PLEASE RESPOND

Have you had any other problems with this stereo. I know you have had it for a little time now and was seeing it it was still working like it should
Still going strong! I really like it. I've had this same data corruption happen again, and I used the same method to clear it. It seems to happen when I am messing with things, either turning it off/on/off quickly while maybe it's writing temp files or something. But, it's easy to fix. Sound quality has still be great, and I love the mapping and cameras. Not sure if you have seen any of my Moab videos.. but you can see it in use in some of those vids. Adding the PAC harness was well worth it... much stronger bass than the stock Seicane canbus adapter.
