In this video, I gave a conservative estimate of about a 70% survival rate on these thinned seedlings. With the batch that I potted up in this video, I have had a 100% success rate so far (over a week later!). So there are a lot variables that go into the process that might effect the outcomes, but over the years, I really have had a lot of luck with this! I hope you do too!
I am definitely in that “I don’t want to hurt the babies’” phase of gardening. But I have finally got used to pruning and dead-heading, so this is the next step. 😝 I actually don’t have much in the way of seedlings yet, but hope to for the Fall.
I still fall into that category too! You work so hard that you don't want to waste it! But it makes such a difference to thin for most varieties! You can do it!!
I just pour a half cup or so of water into the cell I want to thin, then gently pull chosen seedling at the right time. This allows me to let them get a little stronger, even if their roots are tangled a little.
Ysyyyya Kaylee another great video. Great advice mate. Actually Julia in England is going into spring and has sweetpea seeds popping up. On the other hand here in Australia, it is Autumn but still plenty of things to plant. Love your videos. Take care
That's kind of fun that you two have opposite seasons! Fall is my favorite - I adore autumn and I'm already looking forward to it! So soak it up for me too!
Thanks for this video! 2nd year gardener here. I wish I had watched this before thinning out some of my squash seedlings! I didn't realize they can survive and regrow their roots from that state. I ended up digging around my thinned seedlings - hoping that didn't damage the primary plant too much.

Cutest supervisor ever!!😻 Awesome seedling advice, thx Kaylee!
I really have such helpful supervisors! But they are major micromanagers! 🤣
Oh yay! Happy to see a success story; I just did this to my tomatoes and was freaking out 😂
Another very informative video - 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! ♥️

I love your siamese cat. I miss our deceased cat Tinker Belle that was a shames. Interesting video!
Oh I'm so sorry about the loss of your cat! Siamese are such a fun breed! We just love ours!
thanks for the vid. just what i was looking for. I have a very similar cat but he would have been much more destructive in there.
4:23 cat butt shown off
We like to keep things racy in this greenhouse 🤣
@@RootedRevival Cat's know what we want. OR my cats have trained me to think that's what I want???
This maybe got too weird
@@eulerizeit 🤣🤣🤣 oh they definitely know!
