‘Inappropriate’ for Chinese officials to block Cheng Lei at event

- Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says it was “entirely counterproductive” and “inappropriate” for Chinese officials to block Sky News host Cheng Lei at a media event on Monday.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited Parliament House on Monday.
Sky News journalist Cheng Lei was blocked by Chinese officials at a media event between Mr Li and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
“Amongst what is a very important visit … this was an entirely counterproductive and inappropriate act by Chinese officials,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia.
“It should’ve been called out by our Prime Minister.
“It is a reminder that we have two very different systems - the Chinese system and the Australian system.”
How in the world, the Chinese officials can dictate freedom of speech and free press on Australian 🇦🇺 soil?
Having heard from a Chinese friend. The CCP thinks they have the rights to exert their law and even arrest Chinese or Chinese descent on any foreign soil. If you are Chinese who was a citizen of China, the CCP think they still own you.
