- Graeme O'Neil takes a look at how Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Grofff reacted to their own and each other's Tony Awards wins for "Merrily We Roll Along".
So proud of Radcliffe! He found ways to improve his skill and move away from the initial franchise. He didn’t allow the industry to pigeonhole him and it is tremendous how much he improved vocally.
it was so sweet seeing how happy the other nominees were for Daniel and Jonathan. Daniel’s been an actor for so long, played one of the most iconic characters ever, and never won a major award and he finally did. Jonathan has been an INCREDIBLE broadway actor and hes finally got his tony!! look at them go!! so proud of
So glad Daniel Radcliffe won. Congratulations.🎉
Groff is a superstar.. Stands out in everything he does. Well deserved.
Dan is such a bright and kind person, and his love for his colleagues says great things about the type of people they must be.
So happy for Jonathan and Daniel! I saw them in February and they were amazing. Lindsay too!
It’s so rewarding to see Daniel’s efforts to stretch and grow be rewarded. It was wonderful that his parents were there to witness it. Supportive parents make all the difference in being free to pursue what you love.
So happy for both Jonathan and Daniel deserve it. They both work so hard and to see them be honoured in this way is fantastic good for them.
Daniel R. has made reference to the fact that HP put him in a financial position that he can pursue roles he wants to do, rather than ‘needs’ to do. When you look at his career that has allowed him to really interesting and quirky roles, which aren’t necessarily ‘mainstream’. That has allowed him to develop as an artist and has paid off in recognition. Long may it continue.
I can’t believe Daniel Radcliffe has a Tony
I saw Daniel during his run in Equus years ago and got to briefly talk with him at the stage door afterwards - I'll never forget the way no one else attempted to say anything to him but instead just thrust all their playbills at him as he passed. His time during the HP movies was a masterclass of working with some of the greatest actors alive (at the time), and I'm sure he was given sage advise that he has clearly taken with him to the stage. Super glad to see his career thriving like this.
I am so proud of Daniel to win a Tony
Jonathan Groff crying in the acceptance speech is so on brand 😂
well it was his first tony win too since his first nomination 17 years ago
Groff long overdue, finally rewarded by the Tonys 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎭
Hard not to love them both!
He's going to get nominated for a lot more things in future. If he gets put in the right movie with the right director he has the potential to win awards.
So glad to see them win!
Thank you for including the other nominees at the start of this video. I have been looking everywhere for that.
What daniel has done with his career is amazing
"Yer a winner, Harry!"
He is a stellar actor. I saw him in a very dark movie and he was great.
Jonathan Groff ❤ SO well deserved!
Well deserved to them both. Incredible show and cast
Wish I could have seen this play.. I really enjoy Daniel's acting
Congratulations to you both.
Winning this Tony Award is going to open more doors for him.
you'll always always always be my darlin Harry Potter. Love u Dan!!!
Both were so deserving
OMGOMGOMG JONATHAN GROFF FINALLY WON!!! 🤩🥲🏆👏👏👏 I always felt that he should've won something for Hamilton because gosh look at the effect of that King George role when HE played it, that's some Loki-levels of zeitgeist come on! that's a kind of magic that should always have something to be awarded. so we can all finally say Tony-award winning Jonathan Groff!! 🥲👏🥲👏🥲👏
Saw the show in March - they were amazing in it.
Congrats Daniel!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This made my heart burst 🥹💜
Lindsay (2023 Tony Winner), Daniel and Jonathan should take a picture together with their Tony Awards.
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉❤🎉🎉🎉
that face looooool
that's gotta be a meme
FINALLY
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just came across your site, and wonder who in the hell are you? You try to give the impression that you have earned theright to be a critic. NOT!
He doesn’t deserve it
Apologies to JKR
What does his issue with JKR have to do with his deserving an award for excellence in acting?
@@mpb3481 It doesn't. This person is just bitter.
I'm sooo happy for Dan gosh 🥲👏🏆🥲👏🏆 yes that Harry Potter fame is a doubled-edged sword but he is part of pop culture of such levels that's difficult to achieve anymore, and him as Potter is still beloved until now and we should be thankful for that. but yes he finally got his due Tony and he deserves it 🥲👏🥲👏🥲👏.
Had the privilege of seeing this show, last month, and this was the icing on the cake. This ensemble, not just Daniel, Lindsey, and Jonathan, brought this show come out of its 40 year coma and gave it the ability to shine. So pleased that both Daniel and Jonathan were honored with these Tony Awards and very sorry Maria Friedman, who brought this show back out of the dark, did not. Her vision made this happen and she picked a brilliant cast with whom to work.
Having seen Daniel on stage in London some years ago we all knew he could act, but I didn't know he could sing as well, and Merrily is such an amazing and tricky musical to perform. Wish I could have seen the show on Broadway. I wonder if it might come to London?
Graeme Oneill needs to learn how to speak properly. He needs to slow down and enunciate properly. Disgraceful for a commentator/ narrator
Yes I totally agreeenenbendjdbdbdhsks. Ssbjejs enrr jerk rvr e enejejebe enejejebd. Guhuh
I’m so proud of Daniel!
When "Charly" was first said EVERYONE was confused, even Daniel!!!
Yeah, all the nominees are listening for their name, and you could tell Daniel's first reaction was "it's not me" and then they say his name, and he just lit up with surprise!
Agreed. I want to see the show- tricky from UK :(
Fifty points to Gryffindor
Whats a Tony award ? Award from a guy named tony?
Tony is the nickname for the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Broadway Theater (same as the Oscar being the nickname for the Academy Awards). She was an early 20th century theater producer, actress and director and co-founder and secretary of the American Theater Wing.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Maybe thank JK for giving you your first break
get a life
I'm on Rowling's sides on all that nonsense that is going on, but it really wasn't her who gave him the break. It was the studio, the producers, the director. They choose him for the role of Harry Potter. Which was written by JK, sure, but then every actor who's had a break in an adaptation, should always thank the author of the novel which was the basic for a movie that gave them a break 678 years ago? lol.
Grow the fuck up.
@@oscarfun100 not to mention that Harry Potter was a movie role, and this award was for his performance in a live musical. He thanked the people who made that happen, like his singing coach, his stage co-stars, etc.
