I think that dark shade from the palette looks incredible! I think it's quite an interesting dark shade, however it's a nice contrast! Especially when you popped it in the socket. Love this, Ruth. Thank you x

this collection looks really good on you ! i was at a chanel event for the gabrielle launch and experienced the palette essentielle (clair) with the rouge being used both on my cheeks as well as lips. the concealer is meant as a fuss free option to touch up the entire face, hence the large amount. the memory cream eyeshadow was also used on me - a gorgeous versatile shade indeed ! x
Love that sexy eye look. I've never thought of doing a nude lid with navy under the eyes. A much more sophisticated look than how I used blue eyeliner in the 80's. 😝 I agree, no highlighter on the tip of the nose.
That bright orange lipstick looks gorgeous on you. I'm already looking forward to next summer too! Anyway you've done an excellent job showing this collection and how to wear it.
Those eye colours are so beautiful on you. I love how you layered them up. And that orange red is insane. Interesting colours for autumn winter. For me though I will always live in bronze eyeshadow, brown liner and a deep burgundy lip for autumn.

I love the Essentiel palette. I have medium toned skin and have the color you feature in the video. It is great for a no foundation day. I apply the "color" to my cheeks with a sponge and it blends beautifully. It is also great on the lips for a subtle flush of color. The highlighter is brilliant on the inner eye to brighten (but not glitter)
What a great review!! Thank you for giving your insight! I am surprised you don't like the Rouge Allure Ink! I adore the applicator it is one of my favorites! Try watching the Chanel tutorial on using them. When you see how they apply it you may like it better! The deep shade in the travel palette can be used as blush or lipstick but I do love it for a grungey eyeshadow look. Good luck 💖
You look fantastic in this, Ruth. Love your hair...so much more modern than long, Kate Middleton-esque...not that yours really did look very KM but maybe a little bit, as long bouncy hair does on everyone... and that peacock blue with the bronzey brown looks inspired.
Thank you for this video. I'm a Chanel fanatic and I love seeing your impressions on the collections. I was very confused about the Palette Essentiel as well, but from the Chanel videos I get the impression that all that concealer is to be used all over in a way that is practically foundation, then the highlighter and the blush. Though I gotta say the way you used the colour looked super cool and modern, both on the hollows of the cheeks and on the eyes, much better than the Chanel suggested apple of the cheeks. (Love the eye look you got out of the quad as well!)
Hi Ruth, Everytime you talk about the weather in London it seems we in New York are experiencing the same thing! Just picked up Memory, love it. I adore the Rouge Allure Ink's so much, I wear them so much!
I think that reddish color in the concealer palette follows the idea behind the red lipstick concealer trick that people had discovered that goes underneath your concealer if you want to cover up certain discoloration or I may be completely wrong! It is a lovely cheek color too :)
I have been into makeup now for 4 years and after so much time you kind of get a little bit bored with all the collections that are coming out every season, but Chanel ALWAYS gets me. Lucia Pica is really fantastic at her job. I love the look of the collection and that she says: "Sod off!" to all the unspoken norms of season coloring (pinks and pastels in spring, gold and red and glitter in winter and so on). You created a beautiful look (but I have to say your looks have been fascinating me in the last time anyway; looks very rock chic to me with this kind of smokey eye makeup).
I love the Rouge Allure Ink, but I also only have just one color (number 150 if I remember correctly; and I am too lazy to move to look it up, HA!). It looks kind of matte on my lips without drying out my lips and more important without thining down my lips to a non existent something in my face. The first and until now the only matte formula which gives me more volume. I also don't mind the applicator; since the color I have is a kind of a pinkish red I often use a lip brush; but I understand that these applicators can be a pain in the #*%!
Well, the Essential Palettes...I have to say I don't like these kind of palettes where everything is supposed to be in. There are so many beautiful women out there with so many different colors and undertones and they launch 3 palettes?! I don't get it. But I have to say this blush color kind of suits you...very interesting. Good for contouring on you but as a blush...don't know.

Model Recommends I absolutely love the palette. I got the light and the blush is quite nice. I carry it with me for touch ups especially on those no foundation days to hide a blemish here or there. The highlight is my favorite 😍😍😍😍
I love every single items! I think I have tons of dupes for the eye quad but I really really want the lipsticks and the single eyeshadow pot.

I love the formula of the rouge allure ink! I apply them using my finger and it gives a sheer wash of colour, then I blend it out with a clean finger to give like a blurred/live in look. If I fancy a glossy finish I'll just put on a layer of glossier balmdotcom (or any lip balms really). I also love how it's not long wearing unlike other liquid lipsticks!?
I got the Essentielle palette as a gift and I also thought it would be really dark, but I can get away with the concealer in the summer. And I think the blush is a very pretty, sort of 'fallen rose' colour to mimick the effect of being out in the wind/cold. I don't plan to buy the eye colours but you totally inspired me to do a similar look!

I love Road Movie so much and NightFall Velvet. I hate the liquid inks, too weird in texture and do not set down at all. I have to buy Memory now i have seen it on you. What suits you generally looks great on me too. Blush looks great on you and deffo don't get the sily highlighter on the end of the nose unless you want to be a clown. Great post thanks xx
This is a beautiful modern way of wearing those bluey colours Ruth! I watched the tutorials on the Chanel website and thought hmmm bit 80s... I might pass on this collection however now I'm desperate to get back home to Sydney ( as I work in the outback Australia 🇦🇺 no Chanel out here) before the collection sells out!!! Aaaagggghhh!
Great review. I, too, had no idea what to do with the palette until I started playing with it. The nail color reminds me of "Frenzy" but is much nicer.

Gorgeous. I got the beige Clair essentielle palette and thinking on getting the medium one . They look perfect for travel and as the instructions inside the package suggest, the cheek color can also be used for the lips that makes it a complete makeup on a palette.
There is a good plum lipstick in the range called Suzanne and I reckon that pallette cheek colour would go well with that! Think it is actually quite interesting for autumn.
I like the idea of trying to create a look with just that 'essential' palate :)
I have the Allure Ink in Choquant and really like it. I will say this formula is very fiddly and requires a lip brush to push the lipstick to the edges, but if I leave it to set for 10 minutes, the longevity is good and doesn't dry my lips. I will say that the Armani Lip Magnets are my favorite liquid lipstick formulation, but I think with either line, the deeper pink or red colors tend to fare far better.
You and Caroline Barnes are just the most down-to-earth, natural people on here with great experiences amongst a sea of YOUNG, jobless, entitled kids doing make up which incidentally includes your long lost cousin...Anna(Edit). How on earth can these youngsters afford high end make up and clothing is beyond me....and I earn a fair bit through REAL work, but still cant comprehend.

I'd say kingfishers blue. Wish I didn't have hazel eyes because it probably wouldn't work for me, but it is the most gorgeous colour.
Ah medieval pageboy made me audibly lol! My thoughts exactly, prefer the cheek colour in the paler palette but the concealer is too light, so one of the counter staff suggested I buy both the light and medium shades and mix them together..hardly cost effective Chanel! xx
The quad looked so interesting online, but I had the opportunity to swatch it yesterday and decided against getting it. The color payoff of the dirty navy was disappointing and the beige simply did not show up on my skin. So I figured, two duds out of four isn´t good enough for that price.
I actually love the applicator of the Rouge Allure Ink, I'm able to be very precise when I put the lipstick on. I have 148 Libéré and 140 Amoureux, but while 148 is my favourite lip color/product, I find 140 dreadful, it looks so similar to my lips color that no one notice I'm wearing anything, which wouldn't be a problem if only the formual was better, it just moves all over the place and it's quite the hassle to wear.
PS: I never though I could fall in love at first sight with an orange shade but First Light is so beautiful. I never buy tradicional lipsticks because I feel stupid while putting them on, I know, it's strange... but there are a few colors that are so tempting I might just give them a try

I loved Chanel eyeshadows but since I decided to buy only cruelty free make-up I don't buy Chanel anymore. It's a shame that brands still do tests on animals.

That wine colour reminds me of 'lake', the original make up artistry colour used for ageing and bruises!! Most strange. Eye quad and cream look nice, but not sure I'd invest.
The darker shade in that palette could work as a lip tint

Absolutely loved everything, including the last pallette. Although i still don't quite trust Chanel nail polishes.. do these ones really last? at least a couple of days? gosh, because Chanel chips on me in the first 24 hrs

I got the lightest essentielle palette. I love the blush and highlight, but the concieler quality for the price tag is a joke. Kind of yes for touch ups, but not better than any drugstore version, even worse. Just because its Chanel I'm trying to find a way to make it work. Should not be like that.
The darker color is probably for your lips
If I did my makeup like that, I would look like I have cried with makeup on and then rubbed my eyes. Because I am not a model!
