OK, here's the rundown for Jingle Bell Rock - Layne Stein, their beatboxer, was the arranger & creative director, plus the grinch - and the guy in the audience who got the boombox to the face. So, he planned and did the stunt. Everyone in the audience was friends/family. The 2 week old baby was making his debut - Eli (the rock tenor, rhymes with jelly) is dad and of course mom was holding him. The woman dancing and doing the filming in the audience is Cindi, Layne's wife. Kathy - Geoff's wife and their production manager - was sitting next to Geoff. Adriana did her first performance with them at age 15 (either Frozen or You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch, I don't remember which was first) - I think she's 19 now. (They found her because her parents are Geoff's friends). Her vocal skills are off the charts.
@@mattofficialstudiosIf you want more fun from Voice Play then please do a reaction video to (Voice Play ) Hilarious Deep Dive Into Voice Play. His wife Kathy is the waitress & the others in the background are their family members & friends. You will absolutely love love love it.
One can never get enough VoicePlay. I highly recommend Valhalla Calling, My Mother Told Me, In the Air Tonight, Seven Nation Army, Dream On, Warriors, Trapped, Panic Parts 1 &2 (if you do that though, you have to watch Trapped first then Panic parts 1& 2) and basically all of their songs
Great reactions. I'm so glad that VoicePlay pulls in some of their real life friends, like Adriana (her parents are friends with Geoff), Omar (Cesar's roommate and an outright force of nature), and Rachel Porter (former coworker when they sang at amusement parks, now sings on Broadway). You mentioned Elliott Robinson, and yeah, he was the bass for Home Free before Tim. Gosh, I loved his collab with Bass Gang! IMHO, Geoff, and Elliott are the most buttery basses out there with that hot chocolate warmth in their lower chest notes.
Jingle Bell Rock.... The audience is them and their families and friends. The baby is Eli's newborn son Asher which means Blessed in Hebrew. He was a week old when this was filmed. Whiskey In The Jar.... This is an old Irish folk song from the 1600s. Covered by many artists including Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, Metallica and many others. Whack for my daddyo. Whiskey In The Jarro = Shot for my dad. There's whiskey in the jar (bottle).
Omar and Cesar (flowered shirt) are actually roommates and best friends. Oh, and the sleighbells in "Jingle Bell Rock?" That's all Layne, the beatboxer.
Fun fact, Tony Wakim (former VoicePlay member and current co-owner of Pattycake Studios with Layne), filmed the Jingle Bell Rock video on his iPhone because cameraman was unavailable.
Yes, Jingle Bell Rock is definitely too short! But there's lots more great (and longer) stuff in their channel. I'm surprised nobody in the comments has recommended Nothing Else Matters yet, or Hoist the Colours, Creep, We Don't Talk About Bruno...you get the idea. 😆 (Elliott Robinson wasn't with these guys, but Scott Porter was a founding member.)
Jingle Bell Rock is about half a century older than Mean Girls. VoicePlay, even if they weren't old enough to automatically know this off the top of their heads, would have looked the song up before covering it, so if they mention Mean Girls in the title of the video, it's presumably because some aspect of their cover (or perhaps the video) takes additional inspiration from something in Mean Girls. (Not having seen the movie, I can't speak to the details.) Compare to their cover of Tennessee Whiskey, which credits Stapleton because they sing a bunch of arpeggios, similar to his cover of the same song.
The dance and video concept is a parody of the talent show in the original Mean Girls movie with Lindsay Lohan. You can search just that part. The choreo is an exact copy of the movie
You should have the video info for SMB Peaches. I saw your request about 2am last night. See Adriana in VPs We're Good! This group is the fellows that were on stage in New Jersey with Chicago. Geoff impressed the trumpeter there. Wicked is great, Attention, Nothing Else Matters (and they said Metallica couldn't be done a capella), Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush/Stranger Things season 4), Halo (watch it all), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), their post-apocalyptic trilogy: Warriors (Imagine Dragons) - Dream On (Aerosmith) - Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), Phantom of the Opera.
Geoff does the Oogie Song which they done a few Nightmare Before Christmas. Adrian has done a few songs with them too Like Frozen 2 Medley, Your Mean One Mr Grinch and Good 4 You.

Layne kicking the boombox into his own face has me dying! 😂
Whiskey In The Jar is actually becoming a favorite for me.

it's short because it's a mini, just a long mini. they didn't have time for a full release this month due to doing a concert with Chicago last month.
Oh yes - jump into the rabbit hole. You'll like it. 🎉😂❤

@@mattofficialstudios Seconded on that suggestion. Especially if you've played Skyrim! Or maybe their Halo cover?
Two reactions! Great fun, thank you!

They say this is a reenactment of a Pitch Perfect scene. No, I think it was Mean Girls.
#VOICEPLAY #HOMEFREE #BASSGANG
If you want your brain truly melted by the beatboxing, go watch their cover of Seven Nation Army. I am convinced that Layne is not fully human.
Loved this!!❤❤❤❤❤
Generally, when they feature a guest they put them front and center.
Dream on, Caesar takes the high note
Geoff does the Oogie Song which they done a few Nightmare Before Christmas. Adrian has done a few songs with them too Like Frozen 2 Medley, Your Mean One Mr Grinch and Good 4 You.
Pls react to Voiceplay cover of hellfire!!.
You have yourself a deal, my friend
