    What are some of your favorite ways to deluxe-ify your LCGs?

  • @urloony
    @urloony Год назад +6

    Dice are where it's at, especially when tracking resources for LOTR LCG. d10s color coded by sphere help keep track of what resources are coming from which sphere, which is an impossibility when using the standard cardboard tokens. MC is a little easier to manage, but the dice work just as well. Do you use tokens or dials to track hero and villain hit points when off camera? Just curious.

    • @NelsonAllOverCards
      @NelsonAllOverCards  Год назад +1

      Oh I love dice! I keep looking for some d10 spindown dice which would be great. I’d like to print a holder for them to track up to 99 easily.
      Off stream I use dials!

  • @jackfair4758

    I like burger token boxes. They come in a variety of sizes so I use them for keeping built decks ready to play, as well as smaller boxes for villain and modular sets. With there being so many villain options now, I don't typically want to take my whole collection somewhere to play. This way I can pull a couple villains and mods out of the box easily, toss them into a travel box and go.

    1. Card sleeves are a must, it is laughable when I see people selling their card games for $5 cheaper than buying it brand new and on top of that their cards show clear wear and tear on them.
    Now saying that I will admit I regret going with Ultra Pro over Dragon Shield, I mean at the time one pack of Dragon Shield used to cost almost same as 2 packs of Ultra Pro so I used to go with Ultra Pro, but now I'm considering to switch because of how much more expensive Ultra Pro are these days so if I'm going to spend that much I would rather spend extra $1-$2 and buy the better option, however for the cards that don't get shuffled I use penny sleeves, they do the job protecting the cards as long as those cards don't get shuffled all the time.
    2. Game Mats are another must have, now I don't get the idea behind game mats that replaces real boards in normal board games, specially I find it annoying on every new Kickstarter people ask for the main board to have a game mat option that replace it instead of asking for more unique and original things to be added. However for card games I can't imagine playing my card games without a game mat lol, I found someone on Ebay who will make custom game mats for affordable prices so I ordered couple of those, one have the picture of my kiddo snuggling with her doggo and the other one have me and my kiddo hanging out with some of our favorite video game characters and those are wholesome :D.
    3. Storage lol that's a never ending problem with LCGs lol right now I find the revised boxes are good enough to hold the cards but ultimately I plan to work out one storage solution for all 3 games and that means combining all 3 games in one place, I don't know if it's possible but it's something I plan to do once I know no more new content will be added to my collection then I will start thinking about that ultimate storage.
    4. Tokens, I used to use dice but for some reason dice and dials never work out for me, I find it annoying to pick up a dial and change the numbers on it and same thing with dice I find it annoying picking up a dice and flip it to different numbers so I started looking into deluxe tokens, and while these tokens look cool and all they are expensive, I love my games but I would rather spend that money on new expansions, so I ended up ordering few sets of Chessex glass gaming stones, now they sure are not as cool as those premium tokens are but they do the job perfectly and they cost a fraction of the price those deluxe tokens would have normally cost.
    5. For organizations, I use those card holders but only for board games that have lots and lots of cards with many different decks. For LCGs I find playing those games without organizers make the game look more alive on the table.

    I owned a copy of Mansions of Madness and Arkham Horror LCG, so I'd use the minis from MoM instead to the investigator cards. It helped with readability, since the mini bases are smaller than the movement cards.

    I agree about sleeves 100%! Not only because they prevent wear on the card edges but also because it's my pet peeve when cards from the expansions aren't the exact same size as the base game :P

    Very good Top 5!
    Personally, I sleeve everything haha, then for game mats I only have a few. Right now, for MC I use my Marvel Dice Throne Black Panther and Doctor Strange mats so it's also thematic to MC :)
    Storage is a big deal for me and I still haven't figured out a perfect way to store Marvel United (which I have everything for) but I was also thinking about storing the cards in one of those huge BCW boxes. For MC, I might do that to, but right now I only own the Core Box so I'm not in a hurry. I also want TesseractGames' dividers for MC and Marvel United.
    I also love your Ready/Exhausted tokens that you use so I might get those, but probably a no for the rest because they're not really that useful and take up more storage space x) It's all about storage...

    The dragon shield clear matte sleeves are perfect too just for swapping things to and from decks. My storage is less than ideal where I have my Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, Black Panther, Nebula, Black Widow, Iron Man, War Machine, Venom, and Starlord decks sleeved, put into ziploc bags and put in the 2 big compartments of the Marvel Champions core box, the 2 small compartments are for sleeved modular encounters in ziploc bags, then my Sinister Motives box has all my sleeved villains in ziploc bags and then the Mutant Genesis box has my sleeved Spiderman, Miles Spiderman and Hawkeye decks that I'm working on with all of my game tokens lol.

    For card storage, I really like the Dragonshield Nests.
    Currently use two of them + the core box to store all of Marvel Champions, 1 for all the heroes and aspect/basic cards and one for the villains and fully built decks. Corebox has the different counters, tokens, modular sets and scenarios.
    Though I'm a bit worried that I might need a bigger box than the coreset one when the next major Marvel expansion comes out

    I bought some broken token inserts for Marvel Champions. I wanted the art case but it was sold out. I also bought some dividers. I was planning on making my own but realised it was cheaper to just have someone else print them and get it professionally done. I'm looking to get some better tokens, but I'm focusing on completing my collection first. Missing about ten heroes. I also have a ton of really cheap sleeves bought at Aliexpress. They're not the best, but they do the job. I'll maybe buy some better sleeves for my most used decks down the line.

    Sleeves are essential and I’ve been quite lucky with penny generics from Amazon.
    Play mat is also essential. Whatever size you think you need get a bigger one. Mine is just plain black with no extra graphics.
    I use burger tokens and dice for counters. My dice collection is broad and burger tokens have HP dice as well.
    Storage is Woden dividers inside original boxes because I love the original boxes. Everything is sorted and labeled.
    For display I have UberStax primarily because they are modular and useful in other games.
    For the decks I’m currently using I have a pile of color coded Deck Boxes. Really helps with setup and tear down.
    If I were just starting out I would try to go all in with BtST for my tokens. I really like how they have tokens for just about any situation. The downside is the expense.

      @@tyleryoung3158 I personally like d10s however d6s are a bit easier to store and transport. I use chessix mostly.
      I don’t use them for Arkham, but I use them for counters threat and damage (not villain or hero though I use the dials for that) for LOTR I use them for damage, progress, and resources!
      I have a few different colors so they don’t get mixed up

    • @JJEMcManus
      @JJEMcManus Год назад

      @@tyleryoung3158 I usually just use D6. Mostly to remind myself to do things like Zola retaliate. I keep one big antique silver one in with my tokens for special cases. Like how I can’t remember Wolverine heals two every turn. It seems like I can’t walk into a FLGS without getting a few more dice sets. Is a problem from long before MC.
      The spin-downs from burger tokens are very nice and I have used them but I also got duplicates of all the core token sheets from crazy jackalope so I have original damage counters for days.

    Everyone will probably cringe at this, so feel free to reply and tell me I'm foolish, but I use Mayday Ultra-Snug "Almost-A-Penny" sleeves. They're thin and flimsy, but I've yet to have one split and they're $1.75 for 100, so very cost effective for buying in bulk to sleeve an entire collection of Champions cards if you haven't been sleeving from the beginning. They're not the best at shuffling, but you CAN still mash shuffle and it's manageable.
