my kids actually like making decorations out of materials that can be bought in hardware shops & charity shops, and its an activity we can do together at the dining table together when the weather is cold ❤ Happy Christmas everyone i hope its a Happy blessed one for all
Nice to see the jewel tones coming back. Tinsel! Our mother used to make us put it on strand by strand. Not only that, being frugal, she had us carefully take it off the tree and save it for the following year.
Does anyone decorate with inherited ornaments anymore? 🤔My tree is almost all pieces we've collected over the years or ones we had when we were children. It is a beautiful mix with almost every ornament having a story or memory.
I do!! I rarely buy any new ornaments anymore unless I see one that absolutely delights me. I’ve even reduced my ornaments to red and white themed for my main tree with a bit of gold and silver and other colors (and all my baby themed for the years my kids were born) for my secondary smaller trees. I’ve donated many as well that weren’t sentimental. I don’t have any from when I was a child but I did grab a handful of old ornaments from my husband’s grandmother and his mother.
@lizmerritt2148 I'm so glad that we're not the only ones. Our kids aren't out on their own yet, but we look forward to seeing them decorate their own trees with their families someday. 😊
Mine too, I have ornaments that were my grandmother’s that we put up every year when I was growing up, lots of stories, means the world to me to feel that connection. Some are pretty beat up, vintage Shiny Brites that maybe aren’t so shiny anymore! But I love them.
I purchased several fake birch trees with lights and put all my inherited vintage and antique Xmas ornaments on them. Really shows off ornaments. Agree, it creates this continuum and memories. At 61 yrs many of people I got ornaments have transitioned/passed, so has special meaning for me
Trends are interesting and a way to get people to spend money on things they actually don't need and have no room to store. My approach to Christmas decorating is to throw just about everything I can fit on the Christmas tree and add another string of lights just about every year. There were a few years where I did the "trends" and I do love a natural/forest/wild life tree, but now the look in my home includes pastel bulbs from years ago when pink was "in" and then shades of blue were "in" and before then the trad look of red and gold, and on and on. When you've decorating Christmas trees for 60 years, you just throw up your hands and throw on everything that will fit on the tree.
I’m so glad vintage is back in! I have bins and bins of vintage and antique ornaments I’ve collected over the years. I always do a mix of vintage and some modern. Thanks for this great video! Remember to keep Christ in Christmas! ✝️
I LOVE the RETRO! When we built our home our oldest daughter was only 1 so thinking about kids at Christmas I used multicolor lights while my girls were young! I saw it as “candy colors”. Now that they are older, I switched back to white lights but deep down Christmas to me is always about the children! Now I prefer the cottage Christmas look!!!‼️❤️
Oh I’m so excited because I decided month ago to decorate my Christmas tree in all blue and white ornaments this year. So I’m actually in style!!! Monochrome. Normally I’m always putting up the same well loved decorations, but needed a change this year! Yeahhhh!
I was already getting excited about my Lords special day Christmas🙌🏾, but this video has pushed me over the edge. Everything is so incredibly beautiful. I can’t pick one😱 I decorate every room and I kinda have a mix. My bedroom is in jewel tones (10 years now), so jewel tone Christmas decor would be cute! Dining and Guest bedrooms are French Country. The family, living-rooms, kitchen and hallway are (porch for sure) Farmhouse. I guess I’m French Country Farmhouse 🤷🏾♀️ I have to watch this one again and again!
Thanks Jennifer, I’m doing a chinoiserie blue white theme with pearlescent tinsel this year. I have collect quite a bit of decoupage baubles so will do a vintage nostalgic theme next year. I’m on the look out for orange ornaments too.
I watched you decorate a wreath and had no place to add a comment. I use the wire stands to hang my wreath while decorating and it makes it so much easier. They come in different heights...the ones they use to display wreaths at funerals. I like the table top ones. You have lots of great and doable ideas, thanks.❤
I am going Retro Traditional this year! I can't wait to add the colored lights, tinsel and plaid ribbon. With the world in chaos, this will take me back to a simpler time! Love your videos!!
Jennifer, This year's Christmas Tree and Decorations are exciting to look forward to. I loved all the same family color decorations. Either on the Christmas Tree or Mantel. Thank You for sharing with us. Nancy
Jennifer thank you for sharing! I love Christmas videos and do massive decor! Can’t wait to see more and hope we get to see your house and store decorated! Liked bits of all of them! I’ve started already so hope to see many more videos!🌲🎄🌲
Thank you for sharing! I like the rustic and cottage core trends. I’m decorating this year with a Santa’s cabin theme using green velvet, red tartan plaid, pinecones, snowy branches with a tiny touch of muted gold. I hope it looks as good as the vision in my head!
Love the cottage core Xmas and I’m going to be wrapping more gifts this year in craft paper, but for the grandkids I think I’ll stick with mostly Xmas wrap until they are older. I think if they saw all paper wrapped gifts under the tree they might think it strange & not festive. My vibe though since last Xmas is old world vintage Xmas. I want it to feel like an early American colonial style home, with candle light & rustic elements.
Although my tree has naturally gone red and white because so many ornaments we have colllected through the years are with pops of red, I also absolutely love a silver tree with blue glass bulbs and tinsel (that’s what my grandmother always had back in the 70-80’s). But a truly retro looking silver tree is hard to find now days. My trees are full of character ornaments, snowmen, Santa’s, and even some Mickey and Pooh Bear.
I can’t wait until you do the Christmas decor tour in your store. It’s always gorgeous. It’s still hard to believe you are a grandma. You look so youthful. Curious which trend is your favorite?
My problem is, I love them all. Each one I see, o say oh!! I like that one. Then the next one, oh!! I like that one, that’s the one I wanna do. Then the next one, ooohh, I like that one. Get my drift 😂😂😂 Great video. Thank you for sharing. I do agree with one of the comments, I can’t wait for your 2024 Christmas store tour.
I love the jewel tones. I have done the Rustic look but this year I am going to try achieve the lighter greens with a sprinkle of gold maybe and icicles with tinsels. I have this vision in my mind and am trying for a more minimalistic look. But I always seem to go overboard so it will be a challenge for me. Thank you for your video.
In your other ribbon hanging video, I have fallen in love with the mid blue, white and platinum decorations. But it won't go with the rest of my decor. So red and green, white and gold - AGAIN it will be. I will play with the ribbon tho! 😁
They are so pretty. I like the retro and monochromatic look. I saw some tinsel at a Christmas shop and had to have some. I can’t wait to see more Christmas decorating videos.
Buying used decorations is also a great idea! So many people sell their Christmas decorations. That way ur are not adding to the land fill by buying new all the time.
Gosh I do like these trends. I use grandma’s ornaments, ornaments mage by my kids and special ornaments bought at Bronners. I’m kinda tired of the same decorated tree every years for 45 years. Different trees, same look. I need to try to change it up this year.
Love the vintage lights on mom tree growing up so beautiful but led looks so plastic wish they could come up with something close to the original lights .i know you can find original still today ..Wish she did a silver pom pom tree from back in the day with color wheel . Love the tinsel on the tree .
Overall rustic for me, but the tree is filled with sentimental ornaments and I like a more Scandinavian/minimalist country look for the rest of the decor. Minimal but not modern.
I caution anyone to stay away from tinsel as it can be hazardous. At least the old stuff from the 60s and 70s was. For example, pets who want to play with it can get it wound or stuck around a paw or (neck if the pet is small enough like kittens, stopping blood flow or breathing. My childhood cat almost lost a paw this way. Also, it is horrible for the environment, and miserable to clean up. It usually ends up getting thrown in the trash at the end of the season. I recall though how much fun it was as a small child to throw it on the tree. My Mom would tell us how beautiful and then when we went to bed she would fix it!😆
Thanks for these tips, Jennifer! I used copper, brown and gold/brass woodland theme last year. I incorporated gold leaf garland and a lot of pine cones, feathers and some birds. All the colors were deep and moody, which looked very rich also!
My problem is, I love them all. Each one I see, o say oh!! I like that one. Then the next one, oh!! I like that one, that’s the one I wanna do. Then the next one, ooohh, I like that one. So, did my mother! She was so frugal!!!
I do the same thing every year because I love how the tinsel looks on the tree. Johns wife
We in the U.K. call your tinsel, lamatta. Our tinsel is hundreds of lamatta shards coming off the central string. It can be thick or thin.
@@karenross3457 in my house, it was the annual tinsel or garland war! Mom was Team Tinsel, and Dad for garland… some years, we had both!
I'm 5 minutes in and there's more than enough beautiful examples... Love your taste! 🎁🌲

I do too. All the ornaments over the almost 40 years together! All my children have been given their collected ornaments for their trees

I’m such a red, green, white and silver bells girl. I like the very dark green & wine red. I can change up on many other decors, but not Christmas. 😊
Agree! I just love everything that sparkles.
#5 except no mushrooms for me. Dried hydrangeas ❤
I love jewel tones and went with them last year--it looks so good! I might just stick with that forever.
Thank you for all the tips of the christmas tree decorating❤✨️🎄

Great ideas love the jewel tones
Rich tones inspire me
Thank you for informing us on how things go together
Thank very much for you inspiration Christmas vintage decoration ideas🥰🥰🥰
I remember, as children, us putting "angel hair" on the Christmas tree. Which was basically fiberglass strands.
That's okey, the old tinsel probably had lead in it!
I remember that! I forgot until you said that!
I am doing a dark green, dark blue, and copper/bronze theme. Love the moody colors.
Oh, that is going to be so lovely!
I'm doing dark greens sage bronze color with lepoard accents though out the rooms
Thanks Jennifer, I’m doing a chinoiserie blue white theme with pearlescent tinsel this year. I have collect quite a bit of decoupage baubles so will do a vintage nostalgic theme next year. I’m on the look out for orange ornaments too.
Please share your completed tree! I am also doing a chinoiserie tree.
Oh my word! I am going to have a little blue chinoiserie on one of my store trees! Yours is going to look amazing!

Loving the cottage core look, it has a touch of the Dickensian, Little Women feeling about it ❤
Thank you so much!

My husband loves the retro look, so I will decorate the den for him. The living room is for me. It will be red, green and gold glam all the way.
What a smart way to compromise on different styles! :)
Thanks for a great video!
Thanks for the Christmas trends for 2024. My favorite is #4. I love the monochromatic look.
That is such a lovely look! Thank you for watching!
I love 3!! Rustic is what I love!!❤

Cottage Core Christmas 🎄 ❤my favorite 😊
I love lights inside and out. I try to put up exterior lights in the fall, before it gets cold.
Monochromatic and Cottage Core are my favorites!
My favorite is #5 Cottage core, so homey and welcoming. Thank you for ideas.
You are so welcome!

Surpringly, it was the retro look that gave me all the feels. 🎄
Wow! Go girl!
I can’t wait until you do the Christmas decor tour in your store. It’s always gorgeous. It’s still hard to believe you are a grandma. You look so youthful.

Well, thank you. I think my trend I lean the most to is Cottage!
The cottage core is my favorite! 🥹
Me too!
Love cottage core!!
Loved this! I’m a new subscriber and will definitely continue to watch!
Well, welcome!
My favorite is the cottage core Christmas, but not the mushrooms.
I couldn't get into those either!
I alternate between #1 and #4, can’t wait for more holiday videos.
